Excellent teacher. He really cares about the kids. I recommend this as the best studio in Round Rock.

First the good:…read more Master Yang and Master Higgins are outstanding instructors! They obviously have a love for Tae Kwon Do and for teaching in general. You and/or your child will likely learn a lot under their teaching. They will dedicate time to you and/or your child to help you along in the process. Now, for the disappointing: When you sign up, it appears you are signing a contract, which is completely understandable. As it turns out, not only are you signing a contract, you are applying for a loan, which will go on your credit report. Keep this in mind, as signing up (unless you are paying cash for everything up front) will likely impact your credit report, as it did ours.

We thought he would lose interest after a week or two because that's often what happens but he loves it and still talks to everyone about his progress constantly. He also has ASD and it can de difficult for him to focus sometimes and he occasionally has meltdowns, but the instructors are amazing and we feel very comfortable with everyone here. We actually believe that the classes have helped him focus and his social skills are greatly improved. Master Yang is incredible with the students and very motivating as is his entire staff.

We were greeted and well received once we walked through the door. My daughter is bit shy and reserved when first meeting new people, but they immediately made her feel welcomed and guided her through her first class. I was in Taekwondo as a child myself when I was around her age, so I have some experience with martial arts classes. I was very impressed with the instructors' ability to connect with the kids and how much my daughter loved it. She immediately told me that she wanted to go back. We were provided some pricing information, but I really appreciated that we weren't pressured into signing up for anything that day. Since my daughter insisted that she wanted to return, I signed up for a short trial because I was wanted to see if her interest would fade before making a longer commitment. I have enrolled her in music lessons and soccer, but she didn't enjoy those activities as much as Taekwondo. I offered to take her to try out some other schools in the area, but she liked ATA Maldonado Martial Arts so much that she only wanted to go there. After the trial ended I signed her up for a year because she really enjoys it and looks forward to her classes. I enjoy seeing her at home practicing her forms and kicks. I have seen her confidence and discipline increase. Also, the Maldonados are great people who truly care about their students. You can trust that they are in good hands. During class, my daughter was accidentally kicked in her knee during a drill and she was in a bit of pain. Mrs. Maldonado immediately grabbed an ice pack and helped my daughter recover from the kick. Mrs. Maldonado gave my daughter the option to return to the class when she felt ready and also told her that she was free to go home. I was thinking that maybe my daughter would want to go home, but she insisted on returning to finish up the lesson. My daughter was a bit embarrassed for shedding a few tears in class, but then Mr. Maldonado reassured her that it was perfectly normal to cry and that she had no reason to feel embarrassed. TLDR: Maldonado ATA Martial Arts is a great school run by great people. My daughter loves it and maybe your child will too. You have nothing to lose by checking them out for a trial class!

Unsafe training, bad mats, and poor environment I walked in fine and left injured…read more I decided to try out this gym because it's close to my house. From the moment I first walked in to ask about a free trial, the atmosphere felt uncomfortable everyone looked at me like I was some kind of intruder instead of a potential new student. No one greeted me or tried to make me feel welcome. That should've been the first red flag. During training, things went from awkward to dangerous. Someone decided to pull on my heel extremely hard not even applying a proper inside heel hook or any legitimate control and I felt a pop in my knee. I immediately knew something was wrong. That one careless move left me with internal damage in my left knee. I can barely move it now and can't afford the medical costs to fix it. It's been painful physically and mentally because I came here just to learn and have a good experience. On top of that, the mats were terrible. They had almost no grip super slippery even when dry. It's the kind of surface where you can slide around during drilling or sparring, which makes it way easier to get hurt. A gym that takes safety seriously would invest in proper mats like Fuji or Zebra mats, not the cheap ones that feel like plastic flooring. I'm not posting this out of anger I just want to give people an honest warning. The environment here doesn't feel controlled, and safety clearly isn't a priority. If you're looking for a competitive but respectful place to train, I strongly suggest going somewhere else. I train at Kingsway, and it's a night and day difference still very intense and competitive, but everything is structured, the mats are safe, and people actually look out for each other. That's how a real gym should operate.

Parking is an absolute mess, especially in January/February when everyone's trying to keep those resolutions going. Signing up for classes on the app is a mystifying experience -- I try to sign up a few days early, and the app says I can't sign up yet; then I sign up just before class, and it says I'm too late. So I rarely/never sign up for classes -- this doesn't seem to be a deal-breaker. I am really into dance fitness, though, and if you ever go on a Tuesday evening and see Disney World-style lines wrapped around the building, you know that Jay is teaching "So You Think You Can't Dance." I don't know how to adequately express how wonderful these classes are. Come in whatever mood you're in, and you'll leave with a smile on your face. His dance class has been seriously life changing for me, and I'm so grateful to have them at Crunch!

In my gym going experience, it was/is constantly overcrowded during those times. I signed up for Crunch to be able to take the workout classes - The only time of day where I was able to take these classes were in the evening times. The Legendary Strength class with Coach Blue was by far the most challenging and upbeat class. Highly recommend his class for anyone looking for a tough and fabulous workout! Unfortunately, I took most of my classes with Charmaine. I was really disappointed with my experience in classes led by this instructor. She was constantly off, beat and off tempo, which made it difficult to follow along - especially in a group setting where timing is important. The music was also blasting so loudly over her mic that it was hard to hear any of her cues or instructions. On top of that, Charmaine rarely demonstrated the exercise clearly, so I often wasn't sure if I was doing the movements correctly. Overall, her classes felt confusing and frustrating, I didn't feel like I was getting a safe or productive workout. In my opinion, other instructors in the gym were much better, but my experience with Charmaine as an instructor was constantly disappointing.
