Next month will be a year since our daughter started and Professor Andre, Coach Eric, Coach Brayden, and Coach Stormy have been a huge influence on her and we credit them with helping her gain incredible confidence. Teaching them valuable qualities such as respect, hard work, discipline and leadership all while learning valuable self defense skills and the kids have fun every class! My son was able to try a trial class with both gee and no gee. They included him right away and taught him a few moves on the side to get started with. Then he joined right in with the sparing at the end of class. There is always the main instructor Jordan along with 1-2 others to help the kids with moves and keep everyone safe. It's a little smaller than other places but that's okay because the main focus is the kids on the mat. Great atmosphere! We signed up our son the next week and jumped right into classes. The gym is immaculate and should be a considered a temple in the bjj community. Xande is down to earth and breaks down technique in a manner that leaves you a better athlete after every session. The staff at Six Blades Austin is welcoming and made an effort to remember my name after the first time meeting me which shows an emphasis on customer service that is rare in the fitness community. I've been going to the lunchtime class which is generally a smaller group anywhere you go but there was a still a good variety of belts in the room to work with. I've visited many other gyms that struggle to place an emphasis on cleanliness and timeliness in the way that Xande and his team do here. Just about the only knock for me was that it was a 20 minute drive from where I was staying in east Austin, but I had a rental car so it worked out.
