After school program review: My daughter has been attending since January 2021 (the place was hurting for kids because of the pandemic) and the entire summer. The second day of school I was TEXTED (not even called) by the owner Hannah Duncan, that my daughter was no longer getting picked up because she's the only one in the school now getting picked up and other schools are higher demand. An organized place would be aware prior to school starting how many kids from which school needed to be picked up from. I mean, we had to sign up months before school started? Now I have a couple of weeks to find child care. As a parent working full time--this isn't a situation you want to find yourself in. This place can't be trusted. My daughter loves Coach Jessica (as do I) and feels like they kicked her out for no reason because there's plenty of seats on the van. read more

This place has some Fantastic coaches that keep the classes fun and challenging! My kids have participated here for almost a year and their confidence & skills have greatly improved. We can see better athleticism and coordination in them than before we started here. Plus our kids have a more solid attitude of cooperation and encouragement with each other and with their peers. Shady business. Wouldn't want to pay higher fees and extra payment for such messy place just because their teachers are good, because there are other places nearby with good teachers, cleaner facility, flexible service options and staff who can answer your questions on time so that you're not late having to pay extra. Make sure to read the fee policy carefully before signing, eventhough they try to convince you to ignore it saying that it's just standard policy. They actually charge every 28 days, as opposed to every month elsewhere, so you'll make 1 extra payment every year. Many parent's were not even aware about it because thy avoid answering fee related questions. Their fee is higher than other places that are much cleaner and offer similar quality services. Other places put your account on hold if you give 2 weeks notice about not attending classes for a month or more, they do not honor such notices and will charge you even if you are not able to attend classes for several months. I gave cancellation notice 28 days before, but they did not honor because the notice had to be sent 30 days before the last billing, otherwise you'll have to pay extra one month. Any other kung fu classes we've been with would accept 15 day notice. Also if you billing day is advancing by 2 days every month, you'll have to keep track of their chaging date every month to know when to give 30 day notice, which I don't think many parents keep track of. read more

We found them on Groupon my 4yr old son had fun we received t-shirt pants and belt which was perfectly fine the parking was crowded some nights it was hard to find parking. (There's some sort of construction next door) Mid trial We were asked to switch classes but I said we couldn't make the new time and asked to stay in our current time which they said ok. Overall my son had a positive experience. I wish class were maybe once a week maybe 45min or 60min versus 2x a week only 30minutes . The 30minutes fly by I know the kids are young but my son really enjoyed and payed attention he could have done a 60min class easy . It's just hard to get there 2x a week for only 30minutes when I have other kids and other activities going on . Our trail is about up although my son did have a good time I'm just not sure if I want to fork up the $137 a month for it. read more

We got a Groupon for here and what a waste of money! Since we got said Groupon we are second class citizens to the "members". We were told that since they made no money off Groupon they needed to put members in classes first. 4 months later we finally get placed in a class and he gets his "uniform" but since he was there with a Groupon (where they include a uniform) he got a shirt and pants instead of the full outfit with jacket. I guess they need some way to tell who is worth paying attention to and who they can blow off. Tonight was the last straw though, they changed his class time to an hour earlier so I needed to rush around to figure out how to get him there in time. My father in law takes him there and is told my son can't participate because he doesn't have his jacket (that he never got because he isn't a member) we explain how he never got one and then they say "class already started we can't take him now" At this point class is half over and I see a lady with a little girl signing up to be a member. After explaining the situation again they finally take him to his class along with the girl who is wearing pink leggings and a white shirt. I guess not being in uniform is ok if you are a member. read more

So I found this place by scrolling through Facebook one day. They posted a video that caught my attention about a 6-week challenge and losing weight during that challenge. I was intrigued but thought, " yeah right" and kept scrolling. I kept thinking about it, went to their Facebook and website and really became even more intrigued. I finally called and made my consultation. Hannah was so friendly as soon as I walked in. She answered questions and was encouraging and I felt like she understood what my struggles had been when it came to lose weight. After going home and thinking about it, I started their 6-week challenge. I started my challenge before Christmas. I know, I'm crazy. My first class I was intimidated because I had never kickboxed before. Keisha was patient and Sam helped me out every time I was lost or my form needed adjusting. Both ladies push you hard that's for sure! I can honestly say that there was not an easy work out any time I went in!and because they were great instructors it created a great workout. In 6-weeks I lost 20lbs and feel amazing! My body doesn't ache, I don't feel tired and I feel my energy level has gone up. The meal plan guide was amazing and helped me so much because the eating part was where I struggled a lot on my own. It was easy to follow and if I had questions Sam or Kelsha could answer. Having a Facebook group to talk and get tips or answers was handy because sometimes it helps to have others doing it along with you and to give each other support . I highly recommend this place. I recently signed up for the kickboxing classes and I love it! My husband has been attending Kung Fu classes here for about 6 months and kept telling me how friendly and helpful everyone was and that I should try the kickboxing classes. I haven't been to the gym in awhile and I have some medical issues that hold me back in some physical activities but I gave it a shot anyway and I'm so happy I did! The instructors are very friendly and encouraging and willing to help modify any exercise that I need. It is a great workout and I feel like I've accomplished something when we are done. Not very tolerant of children for a place that advocates the benefits of learning Martial Arts for kids. Brought my son for his first class. He was very excited. It turned out it was not a first class but an evaluation. The instructor told me he is not ready for Martial Arts because he was looking around (there was a big class going on at the time that he was watching) and not making eye contact when she was talking to him. She told me to try again when he enters kindergarten. He is 4.5 right now. My son was so excited about this. Such a shame. Manager called me after I left a message asking about why I was not informed that it was an evaluation. He told me kids are not always ready to learn martial arts yadda yadda. They have to have a certain level of maturity and attention span, A faq from their own website: "What age is appropriate for martial arts?" We have programs for kids who are 3 years old all the way to teenagers. And we even have programs for adults. So to be honest - every age is appropriate. No child is too young or too old. We have a class that fits just right. read more

Has been a great experience for us. We started out with the trial deal, but became members before it was over. Love the fact that they DO ensure that only kids who are ready to pay attention in class are accepted. Some kiddos just aren't ready (I was worried at first that mine wasn't!), and they end up distracting the rest of the class. Simple. I also love the fact that not everyone passes every belt test. This place is amazing! I joined their 6 week kickboxing challenge, and needless to say, I was not disappointed. From day one, they laid out all expectations, and they gave me all the tools I needed to succeed and reach my goal. All of the instructors were available at all times to answer questions and guide you through the process. They also do a great job of holding you accountable because they want to see you succeed. As for the actual kickboxing workouts, they push you to your limit. They are challenging workouts, but each instructor still makes it fun. The classes are 45 minutes, and they fly by each time. My favorite aspects about the classes are that each session is completely different. No workout is the same from a day to day basis, so you truly are getting a full body workout every single class. I also loved meeting new people each class. It's a strong group to hold each other accountable and encourage each other. I love the kickboxing classes! It has been one of the best workouts I have ever done. I have done kickboxing off and on for the past few years, I am very happy to get back into it. I joined Round Rock Fitness Kickboxing on a trial basis, but I knew I wanted to sign up just after my first class:). The instructors are very friendly and easy to work along with. I have been taking Kung Fu in Master Duncan's Adult Kung Fu class for just over a year. I keep going for 3 reasons 1. My body is healthier and stronger than it's been in years 2. My mind is clearer so I can sleep better 3. I respect Master Duncan's fighting philosophy and style. We don't just learn the moves for the forms, we learn application. He also incorporates information from other fighting genres when we are sparring or learning self defense, such as Brazilian jiu jitsu, to make us well rounded fighters. The classes are a great workout! My 13 year old also comes to class with me and she is gaining confidence and motivation. He has many kids classes for all levels. The children's instructors are kind, funny, and patient with the kids and tailor the classes to their abilities. This is a great school. read more

My son was a student for 3+ years and when we decided not to go anymore we were asked to send a certified letter. We did so and they never picked up the letter. They then proceeded to charge me again when we hadn't been there in over a month. On top of that, in order to get a refund I had to go in to provide proof I had sent the letter, this was after I gave them the tracking number a month earlier. I think it's pretty ridiculous that they make you jump through hoops just to cancel when they don't provide the same courtesy to you. If you are looking for a Kung Fu teacher........DON'T GO HERE!! read more

Great one stop shop! I practiced Jiu Jitsu and Kung Fu here for about two years. The instruction with afternoon group meets was very effective. The instructor student ratio was perfect to allow for individual instruction and practical application with other fellow students. Any questions were able to be immediatley addressed and all instructors are very approachable. I also sent my two boys for kids classes there. They were always excited to attend and move up to the next belt. However, they quickly realized that the belt wouldn't be simply handed to them and that they acutally had to practice for the testing. To me, this instills a great sense of self discipline. The membership it very reasonable and unlike any other martial arts places I have experienced. There's no annual fees, testing fees, venue rental fees, belt purchase fees and all that other stuff that places will aggervate you with. They have a flat montly fee with a price cap that will allow you, or anyone in your family to participate in as many of their programs as often as you like. I was ultimately able to train for 5+ hours on some days if I so desired. Inquire within Do not listen to poor reviews of people unaware of the technicalities that must be followed with contracts and businesses, loyal or not. Would you quit a job without putting in two weeks written notice? If so, who would be viewed as the wrong doer? At least in this case the business has legal justification to ask for such documentation. Highly recommended for all genders of any age! read more

This review is specifically for Round Rock Fitness Kickboxing. I would give five stars, but I feel there is room for improvement and I do see the effort towards that end. I'll start with the "cons": 1. You might be put off by the thought of hundreds of bare feet traveling and sweating on the padded floor of the gym. 2. This is a group atmosphere - you will be paired for a large portion of the daily session. 3. There are limited class times that may not work with your schedule. 4. The 6 week weight loss challenge focuses on muscle mass and so it would be prudent to weight train or resistant train in addition to this program as there are no free weights or resistance bands at this gym. Now for the "pros": 1. This is a very clean and organized facility - if the feet thing bothers you, I suggest yoga socks. 2. I believe the group setting helped me maintain my motivation to succeed with the 6 week challenge and beyond. There is a large support system that begins with the encouragement of the trainers and continues with fellow challengers. Though I weight train on my own and work out at another gym in addition to my workouts at Round Rock Fitness Kickboxing, I feel I wouldn't have been as successful without these particular trainers and their introduction of the 6 week challenge plan. I lost 14 of the 22lbs to my goal weight. I'm in the best health I've ever been. But ultimately, the results you are looking for will require your full commitment and determination.
