My daughter loved this camp the first two years she came. She went this year after a gap year the…read moreprevious year and had a horrible experience. She was physically assaulted by another camper. The Director and Counselors avoided responsibility and refused to call the other girls parents. I asked the Director why she was refusing to contact the other girl's parent and she said it was because the girl was a liar and she wouldn't be able to believe a word she said. The girl also stole an iPad from one of the counselors, and other things. My daughter also had an ear infection and strep throat (she contracted both at camp)They would not let her call me and told her to continue with activities even though she was sick. Mysteriously, I never received one letter from my daughter even though she wrote my twice. The camp grounds are poorly maintained and dirty. Unfortunately, we will not be returning

Upon arriving to camp, I was blown away by the location of the camp. Rolling hills and many trees along with small woodland creatures. I love the outdoors and camping and nature so this was heaven for me. Camp is nestled in the heart of the Pocono Mountains and is about 15 minutes from town. It has its own lake and also their own ranch. I do have to say that camp participates in Pike County Athletics, which consists of other camps in the area, and Camp Netimus won first place overall in the Pike County Horse Show in 2010. There are a couple directors that oversee the camp and they are some of the greatest and nicest people you will ever meet. Jim and Donna Kistler were the original directors and are still there today helping out with everything. Brendan and Darlene Calton are the big bosses as I like to call them and pretty much wear many hats. Tabitha Taber is a former camper that is also another director. There are many international campers that come to camp and they fly in to either Newark Liberty or JFK in NYC and are picked up by camp. In addition, we have bus service to DC/Baltimore area, Philly and also NYC that transport your daughter to camp as well. Camp runs for 7 weeks. You have your choice of the full session, or you may send your daughter for 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7 week sessions. There are so many different activities to choose from during that time such as: Archery, Horseback Riding, Ropes, Swimming, Canoeing, Sailing, Kayaking, Soccer, Running, not to mention field trips to baseball games, fairs and much more. They even write letters home to the family once a week (some choose to write everyday). They are allowed care packages from home and that makes the girls very happy. This is just a little bit of what they offer. I hope that you enjoy learning some of what goes on at camp! You should really go check Netimus out! Your daughter will have memories that last a lifetime, not to mention friendships that last a lifetime!

Camp Speers is nothing short of a nightmare. The first thing that happened to me when I got there…read morewas being told that I would be in a different cabin than my friends. This was a total surprise to me because I requested all of them and they requested me. After having to call my parents so they could beg the head leaders if I could switch they let me. Thank the lord that they even allowed that because if they didn't I probably would have run away. When I got into my cabin, I was greeted to ants in my bed and promised that I would get a cot. This cot ended up not getting delivered and I had to sleep on the floor for the whole week. After the ants spread through all of the yoga mat beds, did they actually do something. That something was them spraying a powder that did nothing to the ants. The ants came back the next day. When it was finally time to eat, I was expecting the food to be bad, but not inedible. We were served green French fries and half frozen chicken fingers. The option that me and my friends took were the salad bar. We ended up eating little protein that week which eventually leaded to fatigue and lightheartedness because most of our diet consisted of salad and pasta. When my friend finally had enough of the camp and was getting homesick, he only had one simple request. This request was to have a supervised phone call to his mom. After hours of crying, he finally gave up, with the compromise that the head woman would call his parents. We all suspected that she would leave all of the fact that he was lightheaded from not eating and the fact that there were ants in our cabin. This was confirmed when we asked his mother what the head leader said and she said he was crying about homesickness and did not mention anything else. The last thing I want to mention is the cleanliness of the camp. I left camp speers with a very severe case of impetigo that could only finally be treated when I went to a dermatologist. This was caused by the lifejackets, as the spots were exactly where the lifejacket rested on me. The least they could do is spray them with a hose every night. Instead they let them sit in a garage letting infection grow on them. No child should have to go through a camp like camp speers. This is based on opinion and your child might have fun but in my opinion the only good thing about the camp was the friends met along the way like Philip.

I had seen some postings and some information about 2021 and thought that while there were some drawbacks, it was important to get my son out of the house and doing something for the summer. He has been sitting around too long and I want him doing more. When looking around, there were numerous other camps in the area and other kinds of programs, but when I had seen what greeley offered to what the price would be especially compared to the other programs, I thought that it would have been a steal. I jumped on the offer for a 2 week session and luckily everything worked out. Greeley was great, the people were very welcoming and worked with the kids very well and my son made a number of new friends which is the bonus to him being up and moving.

The kids were mean and cursed during the week and the camp did not address it. When I reported it to the camp directors (Mat and Rose), they never responded to my email. The many activities that were shown on the video were not available (the ropes course for example) due to being understaffed. My son actively disliked his experience. I will also say that this director responded to my review on google within 12 hours of my posting but as a parent I emailed and didn't hear anything for more than two weeks. This Director clearly cares more about image than actual responsiveness to parents or the camper experience. In fact, I am still waiting on a response to my email. We were not told in advance about activities being closed, and we were assured that although there were Covid staffing issues there would be enough staff to run a great camp. This was not my son's experience. There are many awesome camps out there and parents should know that the directors are unresponsive except to reviews.
