The Canyon Coffee and slice of pepperoni pizza
    Kara O.

This little saloon seems to be a decently hidden gem within the Grand Canyon! The bartender was very pleasant and funny. He was by himself but did a good job to keep up with everyone and keep the wait time down. I had a Canyon coffee which was amazing as well as 2 slices of pepperoni pizza. This place doesn't require a reservation and their pizza was great! I would give this a bar-like atmosphere mixed with your local coffee shop so it is definitely a unique, must-try place!

Many American Indians have been popularized in books, documentaries, and stirring motion pictures…read more  The Yavapai Indians, however, have been largely absent from such published history.   Historically situated in central and west‐central Arizona, the Yavapai, pronounced as yah-vah-pie," meaning "people of the sun," were semi-nomadic hunter-gathers who lived and traveled in small groups within specific home territories. Located within Yavapai Lodge in Grand Canyon Village, my partner and I stopped at this establishment for lunch in June. Yavapai Tavern is a casual, charming stone-accented watering hole offering a selection of regional craft beers, specialty cocktails, and a limited pub-grub menu. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. Basically, one orders food at one of the registers, gets a table number, pays the bill, and leaves an optional tip. We decided on the American burgers, one with Provolone cheese and another with American cheese, including an optional side of house-made potato salad or macaroni salad. Our meal was absolutely delicious, cooked perfectly, and full of flavor. However, the wait for food was long. Prices were affordable, especially considering the location inside the park. The staff was helpful when asked directly. This place also seemed to be less crowded than most other restaurants. While there weren't views of the Grand Canyon from the restaurant itself, the atmosphere still contributed to a nice dining experience.

Younplace an order via an app or order at the bar. Only plus is there's a nice fire pit and drinks were decent. Very expensive for what you get. Basically an upscale fast food place and food just a tiny step above. Also weird upon delivery of food we got one fork, no napkins, no condiments. Set your expectations. $80 for a burger, tacos from the appetizer menu, 1 can of beer (no glass offered) and a glass of "large sized wine - which was a typical pour). Just know this isn't a fine dining it's a place when you're hungry after a big hike and anything will suffice. Next time I'd just go to the market, buy some beer a bottle of wine and make a charcuterie board.

Our first experience was a 3, but the 2nd visit was a 5, so 4 average. (The only reason we came…read moreback was because it's so busy at the other restaurants you need a reservation. We were not even there at peak season, and it was a weekday. Definitely plan your restaurants well in advance.) I think the difference was this: what you order and what time you go. The burgers are great. The vegetarian options are excellent, particularly the quinoa tofu bowl. The pot roast was dreadful - a pile of fat the size of my fist. The burrito was extremely average and mostly onions. The service in early dinner hour is excellent, super attentive and friendly. As it gets later and busier it's still friendly but you're pretty much on your own, no waters refilled or check-ins. The building itself is a must-see and worth going. There's a lot of vegetation, so don't come here for the views.

Think about what it takes to get food and labor 100 miles from a major metropolitan area. The prices are reasonable and the food was serviceable. I had a burger with fries. It was cooked properly and the fries were hot and tasty. The bun could have been toasted a bit better I suppose. Our server, Summer, was friendly and attentive. The bar was clean and organized and we were at one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Come on people...this is pretty good based on the challenges they face.

We visited here two days in a row, and the second visit is why I'm bumping this to 5 stars…read more We were in town for a family reunion and since we arrived a day early, we needed a place to eat after a super rough 2 days of driving. The place is huge, but we were seated and served very quickly. The seating isn't the comfiest but there is plenty. Long tables, hug bar, arcade games, and a merch area. We ordered a couple beers (the pickle beer was legit), the carnivore pizza, and the cheese curds. All really good. The self serve water and soda is convenient too. Now our second visit made me love this place. The reunion was 30 family members on two house boats on Powell for a week. We had to preload those boats and by the time that chaos was done, us 'youngins' were beat and needed drinks and food. Sadly, we showed up at 8p, the kitchen was closed, and they close at 830p. But, we were able to order a round, sit on the patio, AND they let us deliver food to eat out there! We would have loved to eat their food but for them to be that flexible was awesome. We'll definitely visit again, next time we're in town.

Service was good, the beer was solid, and the cocktails hit the mark. A nice bonus: you can grab their beer and canned cocktails to go, making it a great stop whether you're staying awhile or stocking up for later.
