    Rotten Robbie gas, Sebastopol.
    Cynthia H.

A while back I stopped to refuel at Rotten Robbie, Sebastopol. The pump that I happened to choose had a nozzle that kept shutting off every other second! Moreover, the catch on the nozzle that keeps the fuel flowing was broken and not working. My hand began to hurt from having to keep restarting the pump, but the worst surprise happened because there was nothing to indicate that my tank was now full. Instead of shutting off automatically, the gas kept flowing into my tank until the tank suddenly overflowed and two streams of unleaded gasoline began shooting forth, fountain-like, from both the left and right sides of the hose which was still going into my tank! The left stream of gasoline sprayed onto the left side of my mid-calf length black sweater, which was really upsetting, as it is a clothing item that I love and wear daily, and more of the fuel drenched the ground. After this my sweater exuded an unmistakable gasoline odor; I had no choice but to dryclean it for $15. I complained to the cashier about my mishap and suggested that she tell the person in charge there that that hose or at the very least, the nozzle was broken. Though I thought I heard her agree, she was not very sympathetic to my problem. When I asked her if there was water to cleanse the gasoline-infused pavement and my compromised sweater, she directed me to the reserve of dirty water used to squeegee car windows. Her apathy made me realize it was time to cut my losses and go home. When I arrived home and told my partner about it, I was amazed to hear him say he'd had a near-identical experience with that same pump spewing gasoline onto his coat and shoes a number of months before !! I've been to other Rotten Robbies where the fuel pumps are well-maintained, but my experience at Rotten Robbie, Sebastopol was unfortunately and quintessentially rotten!

Quite challenging to get into the car wash now they built a back garage on the front for noise control, but overall a good wash.

Paid for Clay & Wax -- Was Told "Too Old," Then Fixed It Myself…read more 1. Clay Magic & Wax $150 - 1star 2. Seats shampooed $89 - 5 stars 3. Carpets shampooes $89 - 4 stars (they forgot to do the trunck carpet) 4. Headlamp restoration - 5 stars Total $350 plus tip They claimed the dirt and grime that was still left on my car after they detailed it could not be removed yet as you can see it did. I paid for the "Clay Magic & Wax" service and specifically pointed out rough, contaminated areas on my car when I picked it up. Instead of addressing it, I was told the dirt "could not be removed" because my car is a 2013. That is simply not true. I went home, used a basic detail spray and a clay pad, and within minutes removed most of what I was told was "impossible." I documented it with photos and video -- the clay pad was pulling off significant contamination immediately. Now my paint feels completely smooth, like glass -- which is exactly what a proper clay service is supposed to achieve. Let's be clear: * This was not permanent damage * This was not "because the car is old" * This was removable surface contamination that should have been handled during the service The explanation I was given was inaccurate at best and misleading at worst. If I can correct the issue myself in minutes, there's no reason it should have been left behind after a paid professional service. I paid for a clay treatment and ended up doing the actual work myself. I have photo and video proof of everything. If you're considering this place, check your paint carefully before leaving -- because if you don't, you may be told things "can't be removed" when they absolutely can. Since I had to clean the outside of my car which took several hours I would like a $150 refund for the clay magic and wax that I apparently didn't get. Lastly, I have come here for years for the quick car wash and even the quick detailing because it is priced fair for a decent job but when I pay $150 for a job I expect the outside of the car to be clean and to not be fed a lie probably because I am a woman that dirt and grime can't come off because the car is old.

LUV just can't help trying to game their customers…read more I have been getting the "basic" wash for years so I know exactly what it is and how well it cleans my car. I also know the folks who take your credit card at the gate are trained to upsell you and I usually have to listen to some sort of pitch to get a membership or a more expensive wash. I curbed that somewhat until today by handing the card to the clerk and saying "I want the basic $12 wash and that is all I want" and that worked for a few months. Today when I offered the same information with my card to the young man on duty he said "You know, the basic wash is really basic" and proceeded to point to an area near my driver fender and tell me that I had stuck on spots that the basic wash would not remedy. I knew I had no such spots and I also knew he had been told to say that in order to get me to change my order. I cut him off and he told me how many customers who know what the basic wash is get angry with him when he goes into his routine. My suggestion to him was that he get management to realize what an awful position they are putting him in. That is not going to happen with this group. I just think it is sickening that they are asking their employees to lie and it is also ignorant of them to think that any even half-witted customer would fall for that approach. I also know that the higher priced washes (of which I have had many) do not clean the car any differently-they just add shine and polish to the finish and the tires-no deeper cleaning function at all. Luv has such a good product-why can't they do business with respect for their customers and their staff? It would be best if I didn't enrich them at all, but contrary to what their employee wants me to believe, their basic wash does the job for me.

Starting from the beginning, the first time I took my Mercedes to K Tech (an automotive company not…read morespecializing in Mercedes, to be noted) resulted in $5k worth of repairs and maintenance fees. I thought it's a 10-year-old car with around 140,000 miles on it, so it makes sense for it to need quite a bit of maintenance. However, what doesn't make sense, is why 3 months later, I took the car in for an oil change (which they called to remind me to do, and then a day after they called, I received a "check engine oil" light), and proceeded to tell me that my car has a major oil leak and that the engine is damaged? After that, I took my car back and within a few days, the engine failed for good. After reading how many 1-star reviews there are, I have lost any confidence and faith in K-Tech. Why didn't they catch the oil leak just a few months prior? If it started after getting the car repaired, why did it get as bad as it did and break down so quickly immediately after taking it to K Tech again? If the engine was truly leaking oil for the 3-4 months after spending $5k on repairs, wouldn't it have leaked all of the oil and broken down much sooner? Is it a coincidence that right after they called to remind us to do an oil change, my car started alerting me that there was an issue with the oil/engine? Why would my car develop a severe oil leak soon after spending $5,000 on various repairs? Is 140,000 miles in 10 years a reasonable number for a car to begin breaking down just because it's old, especially after spending so much on repairs? I doubt it. Is it a stretch to consider that all of this may have been incredibly deliberate, especially considering how many reviews are from other customers and even other mechanics who are convinced of the same? Even if the damage the car accrued wasn't due to intentional malice, could all of this have been prevented if they chose not to accept work for a car they did not specialize in? Just a few thoughts. Maybe this resonates with someone else.
