A while back I stopped to refuel at Rotten Robbie, Sebastopol. The pump that I happened to choose had a nozzle that kept shutting off every other second! Moreover, the catch on the nozzle that keeps the fuel flowing was broken and not working. My hand began to hurt from having to keep restarting the pump, but the worst surprise happened because there was nothing to indicate that my tank was now full. Instead of shutting off automatically, the gas kept flowing into my tank until the tank suddenly overflowed and two streams of unleaded gasoline began shooting forth, fountain-like, from both the left and right sides of the hose which was still going into my tank! The left stream of gasoline sprayed onto the left side of my mid-calf length black sweater, which was really upsetting, as it is a clothing item that I love and wear daily, and more of the fuel drenched the ground. After this my sweater exuded an unmistakable gasoline odor; I had no choice but to dryclean it for $15. I complained to the cashier about my mishap and suggested that she tell the person in charge there that that hose or at the very least, the nozzle was broken. Though I thought I heard her agree, she was not very sympathetic to my problem. When I asked her if there was water to cleanse the gasoline-infused pavement and my compromised sweater, she directed me to the reserve of dirty water used to squeegee car windows. Her apathy made me realize it was time to cut my losses and go home. When I arrived home and told my partner about it, I was amazed to hear him say he'd had a near-identical experience with that same pump spewing gasoline onto his coat and shoes a number of months before !! I've been to other Rotten Robbies where the fuel pumps are well-maintained, but my experience at Rotten Robbie, Sebastopol was unfortunately and quintessentially rotten! read more

They finally replaced their car wash door and back in business. There are only a few places that offer a brushless car wash. Does a decent job and they have brushes and buckets of soap you can use before hand to pre wash. For the most part have been pleased with the results and going there is my weekly ritual. Helps when parking under a tree as the wax seems to keep the sap from sticking....The few times the machine did not clean as it usually does they always gave a rewash and apology. They are very much a local business that earned a loyal customer base as their staff prides themselves on customer service and building a healthy relationship. read more

I went into the store to pick up a few drinks for some army buddies of mine and hadn't even heard of one of them. Upon entering the store the person on duty was courteous and receptive to my obtuse sense of humor. Great start! She helped me locate the aforementioned energy drink and again was engaging and appreciative at my attempts at levity. I left that store feeling seen and heard. I may be easily validated, but this is the kind of employee I would hire in a second, one that gives extra attention and obviously possesses excellent customer service skills. Car Wash doesn't like dirt and rinsing so it avoids it, apparently. When I kindly told the big, jolly fella who worked inside the store to pass on the crew who repaired the car wash that the car wash wasn't removing the soap, dirt and cobwebs, even on their premium wash, his reply, "It's just a machine; and it doesn't remove cobwebs". He recommended I give my car a good wash before coming to the car wash and using their towels to clean after the car wash. I wish I had time to thank him for his "manly xplaining" advice. He probably assumed it was my first EVER automated car wash experience and I didn't know about automation, as I'm over 50 years old. read more

Rotten robbie stations are noted for their cramped quarters. this one is no exception. it was not always easy to get in and out of here if one is driving a truck. Years ages when diesel options were few, i got diesel here. now with diesel selling everywheres, i seldom fuel up here. the lanes are cramped. the chances of an accidental scraping a bit higher. (the saying the crack was so wide you could drive a truck thru it is applicable here) gas drips -on the main road. well, sebastopol has only one main road.. -pricing a little higher, never the cheapest. -pump and go. read more

I can never understand why this station is still in business. Over the course of 10 or 12 years, I have gone there, had a bad experience, stayed away for 2 or 3 years, decided to try once more, had a bad experience, stayed away, repeat. I have never used this station and not found that 2 or 3 or more pumps were either not functioning or only partially functioning (e.g. you can only buy premium fuel, no other). And one only learns this from a taped up sign, after you have driven up to use the pump and all the other pumps are taken and now you will have to leave the station and then drive back in, loosing your turn. The owners have attempted to cram too many pump stations into too small a space; it is almost impossible to maneuver one's auto around other cars whose owners are inside paying or buying and so you must sit and wait till they return. Rather than have all cars enter at one entrance and all cars leave at another (a plan that would help, a little, to alleviate the space problem) cars can enter from either way, making for heads on mixups that are difficult to unentangle however good willed both drivers may be. The set up is lousy, the service is lazy, and the maintenance is non-existent. The prices are no cheaper than many other stations. So, I ask again, why is this station in business? why does not everyone stay away, let it fail, and perhaps some owners who care and actually give service will take over. read more

Quite challenging to get into the car wash now they built a back garage on the front for noise control, but overall a good wash.

Shocked! You really have a problem employee here. I stopped into this gas station for a car wash the night of June 21st, 2014. First of all, it is very difficult to get into the car wash and requires back and forth forth even a small Jeep to make the turn. When I got into the wash it sprayed the first run of soap onto my car and then the lights on the unit flashed and the drying blower turned on and an arrow told me to pull out with my car still full of suds. I tried to call the station from my cell phone to have them finish the cycle with no answer. I got out of my car which was still in the wash with nothing running and a thin grungy man with very bad teeth took a very aggressive posture and tone and told me to get back in my car, that I am not allowed to get out of the car inside the car wash. I said no sh*%. Can you see all of the suds on my car. Rather than apologizing and offering to help he said that he didn't like swearing and to leave, he will give me a refund for my wash. I asked if I can use the hose that was sitting right next to the car to rinse it off and he yelled don't you touch that hose! I said that I am going to rinse these suds off of my car if you won't help and he said I'm calling the police!! I said go ahead, rinsed my car and left. None of this should have happened and he should have treated me like a customer and not a criminal. read more

I went in to RR Seb today and I asked the employee David " how are things going?" he immediately responded with " the line of customers is too long and when i said me asking how things were going was a figure of speech, he said he didn't get a lunch break the line is too long and hes cranky. i almost get the impression hes blaming the customers for shopping there. I'm nonconfrontational by nature but you need to retrain him, his customer service skills need improvement, i don't know if hes bipolar or if he just likes to complain, either way the company's reputation is reflected by him. I hope he gets the proper customer service training he needs, we all have customers in life. other wise the gas is cheap and the car wash works today. read more

I'd give the car wash a zero if I could. I have a new car and because I live in the area thought I'd try it. The chrome and Windows looked worse after the "wash". Waste of ten bucks. I won't use it again. read more
