I explained that I was expecting an estimate and that I'd be going out of state for two weeks and hoped the estimate would arrive by the time I got back. it did, and I had questions, so I called back. The woman who answered the phone seemed confounded by my request and said I needed to sign the contract and send it back. I explained again that I had questions that needed to be answered first. She wondered what my questions were, so I explained what they were. In a none too polite manner she said someone would get back to me. No one ever did.

Their quote was literally double the other quotes I had gotten and the markup on some items was ridiculous. The furnace model was listed on the quote so I looked it up and they were charging me nearly 5x what it cost. And it isn't like they were rolling in labor or other parts because everything was itemized. In the end, I went with a different company who did great work for half the price Halco wanted.

The next 26 years Hubbard maintained all plumbing: low flush toilets ( B vent staring at Hubbard while installing toilet), sink, hot water heater and all plumbing maintenance. All those years the B vent was not finished correctly yet Hubbard never informed me of this error on builder part. April 2013, I requested a bathtub be installed and was scheduled for June yet called and never got a service call appointment. May 2014 home inspected for sale Chad Hubbard arrives and tells realtor and buyers : it is noted the B vent is a fire hazard, not code compliant, and potentially noxious fumes. Chad Hubbard states " as you see Anne I cannot state all is well when there are several life safety issues" When a plumber ignores "several life safety issues" in a home that he has maintained for 26 years I question how safe my family and friends are when doing business with Hubbard Plumbing.

The technician, Mike, arrived around 10:15 and fixed the problem in 30 minutes. He was very cordial and knowledgeable. He wasn't cheap, but find me someone who is and let me know. People dont understand that being a plumber in this day and age is tough with material allocation being insane. Homeowners don't understand how hard these guys have to work and they do work hard. They are professional, trustworthy and honest. Unlike other plumbers when they cut holes out of your wall they make a nice clean cut for easy patching and always clean up after themselves. They use moving blankets to protect the area they are working in and make sure to discuss the job with you before they start working. If you need quality service work these are the guys you want at your disposal. They are locals and very tight nit with the Ithaca community. One minute they are changing out your shower diverter amd an hour later they are installing steam piping at breweries. These guys do ALOT pf different jobs big and small. Give them credit where the credit os due. I dont care how many times they have to go get parts. Things change in a split second and your old ass house is the problem not them 100% of the time.

I had a plumber look at a water pressure issue (apparently nothing to be done about that, so no worries) and a dripping tap. The plumber disassembled the tap, told me they needed to order a part - as usual, these always require some brand specific cartridge - and they'd get back to me once they sourced it. He did not put the tap back together properly, so I had to figure out how to reassemble it myself, and Warden never called me back about the replacement part. Weeks later I still have a dripping tap. Would not call these folks again, guess I'll teach myself how to replace the cartridge on my own so I can be assured of a decent job.
