The chicken sandwich was crispy and tender although I would have liked more sauce on the sandwich to balance out the bun. The crinkle cut fries had plenty of Parmesan on top and a side of a garlic aioli sauce that was delicious. The shake was thick and with large chucks of nuts. I ended up just using a spoon!

So when my wife said she wanted a little something while we wandered through a heatwave in Philadelphia, I thought this would be a safe harbor. It was not. We ordered cheese fries and a banana pudding milkshake. The fries arrived looking as if they had been cooked last Tuesday and kept under a damp towel since. The cheese was cold and had formed a sort of yellow skin. It reminded me of school cafeteria food, but with better marketing. The shake was okay. The banana flavor was nice enough. But the Vanilla Wafer Cookie Crumble inside was too ambitious for a straw. Every third sip turned into a game of suction-based roulette. You could pay fifty cents extra for rainbow sprinkles to support GLAAD. That was a good idea I could get behind. The execution, like the fries, was half-hearted. It felt more like an upsell than a cause. The worst part was the store itself. We had planned to sit inside for a few minutes. Restore our core temperatures to something in the double-digits. Regain a little hope. But the tables looked like they had not been cleaned since lunchtime and the floor was trying to become one with the food. We took our sad little snack and walked back to the hotel. Two stars. One for the idea of Shake Shack. One for the milkshake trying its best. That is all.

I had a hankering for chicken and waffles today and I could've gone to a number of restaurants in…read morethe area for this, but today I decided to try my one go-to place for the best chicken sandwiches in town: Hangry Joe's. I've seen the chicken and waffles on their menu many times and was always hesitant on ordering it only because I didn't want to feel disappointment and possible regret for not ordering one of their well-known, delicious options of chicken sandwich (the Sando) or chicken fingers. I don't know why I was so afraid to order it other than thinking the waffle wouldn't be that good, but I was so very wrong. Their chicken and waffles are great! Let's start with the chicken... fried to perfection and slightly lathered in your choice of mild to spicy sauce, these chicken tenders are simply amazing... and huge. Bite into a chicken tender and juices shoot out of it. That's how juicy they are. The waffle (divided into quarters) was so good. Lightly crisped and dusted with powdered sugar on the outside and a beautiful soft texture inside, this is a great waffle. You get syrup for the waffle and your choice of sauce for the chicken. All for $12.95. So good! Other options include a Korean chicken nugget combo that includes steamed white rice and fries, chicken wraps, and wings. Service is pretty quick. I ordered to go ("ASAP - 10 mins") and the order was ready in 14, but please don't fault them for this. Once you taste the chicken, you will forgive them for any tardiness.

I was looking…read morefor something quick to eat for a quick lunch the other day and when I passed by, I decided to go in and give it a try. The colorful, cartoonish decor of the restaurant's interior put me off a little at first. The brightly colored, chicken-themed cartoons on the walls seemed to me like it was geared for kids. It is most certainly not. Hangry Joe's is made for chicken lovers. The choices on the menu were all tempting. Every dish on the menu features chicken as a comfort food, and I am all about it. I ordered the Chicken Sando, which was both huge and delicious. My pal got the chicken wings, which he said were the best he ever ate. (He specifically raved about the dipping sauce.) Now I want wings! There are five levels of heat for your chicken, from mild to smokin hot, and so everybody, even those afraid of heat, will find something to their liking on the menu. The service was good, and though the prices are a bit on the high side for fast food (we paid about $30 for two meals.), the amazing chicken and accompanying flavors make a trip here well worth it. In fact, in the two days since I tried Hangry's, three friends from NY who had tried it during their stay here over the weekend made an stop there before heading home to bring home some more of that chicken. Now that's good chicken!

We had our meal 2 hours after it was prepared because a Door Dash delivery turned into a pick up situation due to not being able to find a driver. Nonetheless, dropping a couple of stars because the chicken pieces in the burgers varied significantly. There was one piece that was 1.75x the other piece. Secondly, one box of fries was overflowing while the other wasn't. The packaging wasn't consistent which I think can go a long way for a franchise's branding. There were black boxes and then white styrofoam boxes. Love the honey packets, glad to see they are smaller now as I am sure they can go to waste.

There was one young lady on the register and another "handing" completed orders to patrons. We placed our order and then proceeded to wait ... and wait ... and wait. People who came after us received their food before us. The least they could have done was make the shake. They didn't -- the young lady was busy trying to get everyone's orders in. We were waiting for about thirty-five minutes or more. (We got there at about 6:20 pm and didn't leave with our food until about 7:10 pm) I asked for no spice and cheese added. The fries were a nice crisp texture and I absolutely loved the pickles. My son didn't (I ate his pickles). The chicken sandwich was ok. I would definitely order it again. My son thought his meal was good but not worth the wait. He also was disappointed that the shake was a basic Vanilla Shake with the Oreos on top and not mixed in. All in all I'm not sure if we'll be back.

The service was fast to get us seated, take our order, and bring our food. The interior exudes taco bar vibes, decorated with Christmas lights, and is bigger than it appears from the outside. The metal chairs are a bit light, so just be careful getting up. It wasn't too loud considering the amount of people inside, and we even saw a good number of families. There is a hot sauce bar, which isn't really advertised, but you can take a bottle back to your table for seasoning. We ordered the (1) pollo (chicken) tinga, (2) carnitas, and (3) vegetarian (mushroom) tacos for the $1.33/taco Taco Tuesday deal (minimum of 3 tacos per type required). From the Happy Hour $5 menu, we ordered the (1) chorizo quesadilla, (2) classic house margaritas, and (3) churros. Overall: -The pollo tinga tacos were a bit dry, even though there was crema, and we felt there was more lettuce than other filling. When we added a hot sauce from the sauce bar to these, we enjoyed them more. Otherwise, we'd pass. -The carnitas tacos were delicious! Full of filling and juicy, we would reorder these for sure again. -The vegetarian mushroom tacos were good, juicy and flavorful. However, we preferred the carnitas tacos. Probably pass next time. -The chorizo quesadilla was awesome. Super flavorful, great cheese ratio, and not too greasy. It was more toasted instead of crispy, which I prefer. We'd definitely reorder these too. -The house margaritas come with either tajin, sugar, or salt on their rims. Great drink at a great price. -Lastly, the churros were pretty average, but really hit the spot! Rosy's Taco Bar promises cheap tacos and drinks for Taco Tuesday, and I'd say it certainly delivers. We had a great time, and I'd recommend anyone craving cheap tacos to stop by on Tuesday!

The food is healthy, but not in that bland, everything tastes the same way. Every dish has its own personality, and the flavors actually pop. You genuinely feel good eating here. The rice is cooked perfectly, everything is fresh, and you can tell there's real care behind the food. It doesn't feel like you're just grabbing a quick healthy meal. It feels like a completely different dimension of what "healthy" food can be. Both chicken options are incredible and my go to every time. The Jamaican dry rub chicken is on another level, and when you pair it with the Brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes, it will take you straight to another galaxy. It's the kind of meal where you pause mid bite just to appreciate it. The sauces are a whole experience on their own.
