This place is outdated and dark inside. The doubles were not tasty and to me tasted like it was beginning to spoil , plus has a weird smell. Such a shame and waste of time. They need to revamp and get new chefs. Did not taste like Trini food. read more

Went today to order a Double... woman behind the counter was so unwelcoming and condescending. Almost like she didn't want to take my order... I am a Black woman and this is how I feel when I go into some establishments who are unwelcoming to people who look like me.. I will not be returning. The Double was fine. read more

Don't let this picture fool you, this has to weigh at least 3 lbs!! Curry chicken roti and it's what I've been wanting for a while. This one did not disappoint either. This is one dingy Spot! w/ regulars squatting in the booths. The low lighting & outdated decor, makes the spot extremely questionable! I said F it & gave it a shot! The food was actually really GOOD! I had the Curry Chicken & Curry Goat Roti w/ potatoes & Curry Goat over Fried rice w/ Potatoes. The portions were "Humongous" & the prices were "Dirt Cheap" It was over 15 pounds of FOOD, it was massive & I didn't get sick after eating it ;). I wouldn't recommend dining in, but takeout is definitely the wise choice! The only draw back was, I felt the Pepper Sauce was watered down & not as spicy. read more

Invited by a friend to try out this place for lunch today. I am not West Indian so I'm not qualified to speak about the authenticity of the food here but I can say that I know good food & what I enjoy. I tried the curry duck with rice, potato, and daal and they threw in a little hot sauce on the side for me to try out. The duck was very tender and flavorful. Not overly spicy but it had good flavor. The daal was okay but a little thin for my taste and compared to what I've had before. Potatoes were also cooked well and tasty although not overly seasoned - not a complaint, just an observation. I liked the hot sauce - good flavor, not just pure heat - and will ask for more of that next time. I also tried a bit of my pal's curry beef and it was super tender and tasted good. Washed it all down with a West Indian lime rickey soda and that hit the spot and was a good companion for the food. The interior was clean, for the most part, although not super brightly lit. We sat by the door and caught the nice breeze while also allowing ourselves some ventilation so as not to be marinated in the strong (yet delicious) scents wafting through the joint. Still left smelling of the place but, hey, that's not uncommon when you go to most (West) Indian restaurants, right? They give you a lot of food packed into the container so you will either leave stuffed and waddling or have leftovers. I don't consider either a bad option. Pricing is very fair, especially for the amount of food they give you. Hoping to go back, try some other menu items, and bump up my star rating. If I could give it 3.5 based on this visit, I would. If everything were as satisfying as the curry duck, I would have given them 4 stars. Oh well...that leaves room for next time. read more

I arrived late so some of food was gone. Staff were very polite and provided me with a nice helping of jerk chicken. Must say that the young ladies are very polite. They realized that I did not know many of the dishes, but they were very patient with me when I was asking what dishes they were. I love their cassava balls and especially the sauce that came with it. I have not tried the meat and fish yet, next time. Loved the pumpkin, same ( the best), eggplant vegetables, fried up cassava, provisions with onions, and the plain roti. Keep up the good customer service! read more

The food here is the best! Every time I've ate here they give generous portions and there is a variety to choose from. I usually get the rice, chow mein, beef, potatoes, and fish... Always delicious and has that homemade taste! read more

Disgusting! I got myself the rice and peas w/curry chicken and potatoes. I opened the bag at home and it smelt stink I said, " Probably just the smell of the bag ". NO! It was expired spoiled rice. Threw everything into garbage upset. waste of $10 and waste of gas to travel there just for food. An upset stomach. Worst food I've ever tasted. read more

I dropped off my Zipcar 2 blocks down from this place and I was starving. I saw this spot and stopped in. I am really glad I did. This place makes some of the most delicious curry I have ever tasted. This includes London (never been to India ;-) I ordered an all meat plate for $10 as I don't eat starches. I got curry duck, jerk chicken and oxtail. I sat down, ate 3 bites and walked back to the counter for 2 more plates to go. I knew my wife would love it as well. The only mechanic I trust with my modified car is in this area. I drop it off, Zipcar home, return when it is ready. I won't feel so bad about paying to get my car fixed in the future because I will fill it with curry from this place on the way back to the Bronx. I stopped by this place today. The restaurant was dirty with very limited seating. The place was filled with drunk and extremely loud men. If your a woman they will stare at you non stop through out your meal. The bathroom was really disgusting. The food was mediocre at best. It was very bland and had barely any taste. On the positive side they do give a generous amount for the money. There are many west indian restaurants a lot better than this one on liberty avenue. read more

Not for every palate. Strong fans of Caribbean cooking especially Guyanese and Trinidadian is almost a prerequisite. But my experience was good. I have patronized this location for a decade or so. I enjoy the variety of curry favorites. Portions are generous and more so near closing time. The atmosphere is always indo-Carib heavy.
