Looks like this place has mixed reviews... but I've eaten here for a wedding, and the food tasted excellent to me and definitely stood out. The food seemed extremely well made in terms of Indian cuisine. It was fresh and very tasty, many people went back for a second and even a third plate. My friend hosted her traditional wedding here in July 2023, and it was really cute. The place was spacious, excellent for a wedding or any celebration where there is a large number of guests. Hands down my favorite Indian food that delivers. They never get my order wrong and the food is always delicious.

My girlfriend and myself ordered from Golden Grill late on Sunday after a long drive home. We were craving Indian and wanted to try a new place. I ordered the chicken tikka and my girlfriend got the Dal tarka yellow. We also got 2 pieces of the garlic nan. Delivery time was speedy. We ordered at 7:30 and the food arrived by 8. The delivery guy called and asked for me to come downstairs because he had to double park. Totally fine. Both meals seemed overly oily for some reason. We ended up attempting to remove some of the oil by gently pouring it out. The chicken tikka smelled like a pizza sauce. I put it over the generous portion of rice included with our meal and that helped absorb some of the oil. There really isn't much I can say to describe the taste. Simply put it tasted below average but not bad compared to other Indian places in the area. The nan was good. Garlic'y, fluffy and yummy. I cannot comment on how the Dal tarka yellow was since i did not have any. My girlfriend rated it as average Indian fare and said it tasted good but just had way too much oil. We both didn't finish and ended up tossing the leftovers. I do not think we will be ordering from Golden Grill again. TL:DR - Drowning food in oil! Good nan. Speedy delivery. Surely this huge Indian catering hall would be up to task to tackle a few (2-3) Indo-Chinese dishes on their menu, so I placed an order of Hakka noodles and Gobi Manchurian to-go via the Yelp-app. These items were listed as appetizers, so it was my fault assuming the Manchurian was the gravy kind versus the dry fritters. Nevertheless, the process was smooth, the time of preparation was on the long end of acceptable and the food was deplorable. Generous portions sat in a pool of oil of the paper bag. This was not a good sign for my anxious appetite and arteries. Of course, the two platters were smothered in said oil, but still I would look past that. The flavor profiles were way off base for these Indo-Chi standards. Too much gingery sweetness going on in the noodles which should be dry and the Gobi Manchurian (dry) was smothered in that same sauce. They weren't even fritters; just chunks of cauliflower presumably pan-fried. Needless to say my late night (after 10pm) craving was disappointingly satisfied proportionately to the stomach ache I felt in the morning. Short version: We found a cockroach leg in the food. I am only giving this restaurant 1 star because Yelp doesn't allow me to give zero stars. The health inspection information below was found via the official NYC Dept of Health app, "ABC Eats" where this restaurant is listed as "Golden Terrace Banquet Hall." Delivery was prompt and they bring a mobile credit card terminal so you don't have to give out your card number over the phone - this prevents someone writing down your card number and then someone shady potentially stealing it. We ordered delivery (chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, samosas) and the food was OK tasting. I would have given a three star rating until I found what appeared to be a leg belonging to a COCKROACH in my food. I'm not an expert on insects but it looked like an insect leg to me. Needless to say we threw away the leftovers and the menu to prevent us from accidentally ordering from here again. I just looked up their latest health inspection (July 31,2013 as of this review) and they received violations for "evidence of mice or live mice" on the premises and "filth flies" being present - perhaps this is where my complimentary leg came from... I spent $100+ on a variety of different dishes ...when I went for pick up "RUPI" the manager was there ...(meaning she's aware and okay with the quality of food her kitchen is producing ) ...got my food ..opened it and you can clearly see everything was heated up as it looked gross and smelled the same.chicken samosas were refried to a point where the dough was so crispy and dark it had holes in it, the tandoori chicken was stale and stiff, the chicken tikka masala had "sugar" in it to mask the extra spicy flavor since I ordered mild. First thing first if your curry base is prepped ahead don't add sugar to mellow the flavor that only makes it taste even more like garbage...since your already reheating it to serve people ..the naans were stiff and oily, lamb biryani also had enough oil to fry a whole chicken...I would expect an establishment that has a catering hall would atleast have basic standards. Save your time, energy and money by ordering just about anywhere else.I would give this place zero stars if it was an option!!!! read more

I think they need classes in cooking. For Kadai Chicken I was provided some thing similar to Chicken Jalfrezi, for Hot N Sout Soup there was this soap like liquid with vegetables floating in it. Chicken Soup i didn't even bother to open the can as it had some dead chicken pieces lying peacefully on the bottom with AGAIN some vegetables floating on top. They also need to know what is Naan and what is roti. Never ordering ... ever. read more

Went here after buying a Groupon deal. I ordered the garlic paneer, samosa and vegetable noodle. The food was average, nothing special. Slightly greasier than I'm used to and spicier, which was ok since I like spice. The two stars are strictly for the food the service on the other hand, 0/5 stars. I don't know if the person working at the time just had something against Groupon deals but he was not friendly at all! Maybe even bordering on unfriendly. Unlike many others I did not get the food delivered. Big mistake! Between waiting to have my order taken (15 mins) reassuring the order taker that the deal was marked as "used" on the Groupon app (10 mins) and waiting for the food (25 mins) I'm pretty sure I would have been better off ordering and having the food delivered. Not only did every employee in the place pretty much ignore me the whole time I waited, I was somewhat appeased by at least getting to watch tv while I waited until someone came from a back area only to turn off the tv and leave the room. That guy is on to something! This is New York City. If you really think that the other places you eat in and not only in NYC, don't have the same problems then you are fooling yourself. I've worked in restaurants when I was younger. I am referring to the review below. It's a small room. When we arrived at about 7:30 they weren't really set up for dinner and we waited about 10 to 15 minutes before any valuable communication. There was a wedding being set up in the next room for the next day, so there was certain amount mild chaos. Once the gentleman who was to be our waiter came to the table he was gracious and professional, and everything was very cool. The quality of what I had in this restaurant was fantastic. My friend had the buffet and brought some home and I could taste the care that went into perparing it. We went for dinner last night. We had an appetizer which I had not seen before. When it came to the table I was like, "what the hell is this". IT was so different and delicious I was swooning. Bhel Purri It was puffed rice, potato, onion, tamarind, soy, mint. It was crunchy, it was slightly soft, it was puffy it was delicious. We had Tandoori Shrimp. Absolutely crazy good. Just perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection and without a lot of salt. Freaking awesome! My dinner mate ordered Kandai Paneer which I would not usually order, don't know why. But she did and I was very happy. It too was delicious. And then here I go with lamb again. Lamb Curry. Also delicious. The one overwhelming factor here was that everything we had was not salty but had so much built in flavor from fresh ingredients and that all flavors of all dishes worked so well together. I was ready bust but I had to try Carrot Pudding because I love carrots in any form. I even make carrot juice. And it too was different and delicious and creative as was the rest of the meal. The carrot pudding taste was bit like sweet potato in fleeting flashes of flavor, but then came back to carrots. IT was great. Their Board of Health rating is A. as of last night 7/25/14. There is no one thing that i find negative about this place. Parking gives you some trouble, but other than that, food will set you up. I had a family dinner here with my cousins and we thought it was a perfect spot on a Thursday night to be at. Well cooked meals, fresh naans, drinks were pretty good and the music was serene. On Mother's Day they delivered excellent Indian food. Yes it took over an hour, but we were in an odd area, too far to take a bus and were very grateful for delivery service! The two dishes that we ordered goat Korma and goat Vindaloo(one spicy and one medium spicy) were awesome!! Plenty of food (enough to take home and eat for another entire dinner). One order of rice easily feeds 2 people and we shared one flat bread (the garlic naan) was wonderful, I wish we had another for the 2nd night! The person on the phone seemed hurried (he was probably the cook, trying to complete our order as well as doing lots of other things, but he was thorough and listened to what I had requested. Four of us had a delicious meal last night in the small restaurant that is attached to the Golden Terrace Catering Hall. At 7 p.m., there were very few other customers, but by 8 p.m. almost all the tables were filled with other parties, including families. We were the only group who did not appear to be from South Asia - always a good sign for me when searching for authentic ethnic food. This restaurant specializes in the food of North India, and it looked like their takeout business might be even heavier than eat-in. We had 2 orders of samosa (total of 4 large), 4 cups of chai, naan, rice, fish curry, cauliflower and potatoes, shrimp masala and spinach and cheese. Everything was great! The only reason I am not giving five stars is because this is a very casual place plus the staff was a little over-burdened with the Friday night crowd, so the service was not very attentive. However, all the food came as ordered and all our needs were met (and, honestly, they were very busy)! This place is very reasonable, especially the weekday lunch buffet, which we go to frequently. They also have a liquor license. Street parking is not bad - you may have to search a little but not far. I really recommend Golden Grill/Golden Terrace.
