We went to Rotate on a weekday for the lunch buffet. The restaurant opens at 11:00 am and we arrived around 11:30 am but had to wait because the buffet wasn't set up. We were the only ones in the restaurant until about 12:30 pm. They had a good variety of food from soups to veg to non-veg and rice. I didn't see any desserts so I was disappointed by that. I thought the selection was mediocre. Nothing stood out. The naan was bland and not fluffy. We had to pay for our meals before we even picked up a plate. That's odd because we didn't know what to tip being unaware of how the service would be. Let's just say the server was very absent. He never checked up on us. If I knew this in advance, I would have tipped less. Maybe this is the reason they force you to pay first? read more

I booked a table for a group of 20 to 25 people for Friday at 8:00 pm and specifically requested downstairs seating near the DJ area. The host confirmed the reservation right away and even sent me a confirmation text, followed by a reminder message the day before. This was a planned group reservation that was confirmed multiple times. On Tuesday when I made the reservation, I was also told it would be Bollywood and Tollywood night, which was one of the reasons our group chose this place. When we arrived, they were playing almost exclusively South Indian songs. We had to ask the live singer four times before he finally played a couple of Bollywood Hindi songs. This was disappointing because the music theme we were told to expect did not match what was actually happening. When we arrived, we were told our table was upstairs. I explained that our reservation was confirmed for downstairs by the DJ area. The host acknowledged that the downstairs table had been given to another party and claimed they tried calling me. I immediately took out my phone and asked when they called and whether they left a voicemail. There were zero missed calls and no voicemail. I asked multiple times and only received apologies. The reality is, no one called me, and our confirmed table was simply given away. We were then seated near the entrance with people constantly walking in and out. For a group our size, this was a poor seating choice and set the tone for the night. Service was extremely slow from the start. It took about 20 minutes just to get water. It took around 25 minutes for the server to take drink orders. At that point, I walked to the bar myself to order a drink because nothing was happening. About 35 minutes later, the server came back to take food orders. I ordered a single appetizer, cashew chicken. After one hour of waiting, I asked about it and was told it was getting ready. Another 30 minutes passed, still nothing. After roughly 1 hour and 45 minutes total, I was told the appetizer had been given to another table by mistake and that they could reorder it, but it would take another 30 minutes. This was for one appetizer, not even an entrée. Several people in our group had similar delays with both drinks and food. There was no real accountability. No manager came over to explain what happened. There was no attempt to comp anything or make the situation right. We were expected to accept slow service, multiple mistakes, and poor communication. To top it off, an 18 percent gratuity was added automatically despite the poor service, and the drinks were watered down. The entire group left disappointed. This was supposed to be a fun group night and turned into frustration. I would not recommend this place for group reservations, and we will not be returning. read more

We visited Rotate restaurant on Saturday as a group of nine. When we first arrived, the atmosphere felt pleasant and welcoming. We ordered both vegetarian and non-vegetarian starters and main courses. However, the service timing was very disappointing. The vegetarian main courses were served first, while the non-vegetarian dishes took a long time. After a significant wait, we received only one non-vegetarian starter, and later, just one main course. It made it difficult for all of us to eat together, which is something you typically expect when dining as a group. Among the dishes, the Hyderabadi Chicken 65 stood out and was quite good, but the rest of the food was just average. Overall, if you don't mind very long wait times or not being able to dine together as a group, this place might work for you. Otherwise, it may not be the best choice for a group dining experience. read more

We dined in during their second day of business for 'linner'. Granted it was not busy, the service was great. Our waiter was attentive and welcoming. The menu is brief and seems like an American/Indian fusion. We had vegetable Samosas to start--they rocked! Main course was cheeseburger, Cajun pasta with shrimp, butter chicken, and kids chicken strips. Everything was tastier than anticipated with lots of flavor and perfectly prepared. They also have a large selection of beer on tap with 8, 16, 24, and 32 ounce pours to choose from. Prices are quite reasonable. Ambience is upscale sports bar (lots of tvs) meets cozy cocktail bar. This place is disgusting. Went here on a Saturday at noon with family, first red flag was that NO ONE was in this establishment, literally just the 4 of us who walked in. Sat down, service was normal. 2 people ordered beers and 4 waters. When those drinks were delivered there were floaties in the water!!!! Food particles in our water. We were disgusted. We paid for the beers we ordered but didn't drink and left. Will never be back and I will make sure to tell people not to go. read more

TLDR - Enjoyable atmosphere yet lacked in service, even on a slow night. Food wasn't overwhelmingly good, but tasted fresh and were decent sized portions. Good place to bring a group of friends. I came here on a Tuesday night around 7:30pm and there was plenty of seating. We weren't greeted, but after asking the bar, we found out it's a seat yourself situation. The staff were all very friendly. The atmosphere is nice. It's spacious and set up for social meet ups with tables big enough for large groups. There are TVs spread throughout, but not all of them were playing something (maybe because they were slow?). Our server was sweet, but seemed a little unexperienced. They got our drink order wrong and we had to ask other people a couple of times to get us stuff like drink refills. With them being so slow, I would have expected more attention to detail. Once the food came, it tasted fresh. The person I was with loved their dish, but I thought my tikka masala was just okay. It had an overpowering taste of onion that took away from the flavors and spices I usually enjoy in a tikka masala. The naan tasted fresh but was a little more crispy and thin versus the fluffy and soft texture I'm used to. I would definitely come back and try other dishes in the future since one of my close friends really enjoys this place. Parking: parking was a little tight on a Tuesday night, so I imagine on the weekends it might be hard to find parking.... So plan ahead. read more

We ordered chicken tikka and rotate combo kebabs. The kebobs were so burnt that we couldn't tell the what flavor was what because all we tasted was burnt chicken. We also didn't get the mint chutney. Further, we ordered mild chicken tikka. We got 3/4 of the container full. WTH? For the price $18) that's all we got. Looking for a different restaurant? This is the place to visit. Half American and half Indian. We had chicken samosas to start. Cooked perfectly and served with a mint chutney. Little spicey. Good spicey though. Got the caprese pinsa which is like flatbread. Ended with the rotate combo kebabs. Very fresh and juicy chicken Please support this local Frisco restaurant. Maybe I went into this new place that had their grand opening today with too high hopes, but unfortunately I was not impressed. From the moment I entered the door no one was there to greet you and the overall atmosphere was not welcoming. When I sat down our server was not friendly and just immediately asked what I wanted to order after not even looking at the menu. I ordered a 24oz beer and I was brought 2 pint glasses simultaneously and I assume this was because they didn't have the correct size glass. I also ordered a Cosmopolitan and although it was not terrible it was also in the wrong glass. I saw two men who I assume are either the owners or managers, however I don't know for sure because they never greeted either despite them walking past the table on many occasions. I do want to mention that the only friendly encounter was from the bartender whose name I believe was Micah. He wanted to make sure our drinks tasted okay and I appreciate him for making conversation. This extremely casual, cool bar atmosphere is a great place to grab some apps and entrees with an unexpected fusion of flavors. If you're looking for a place to eat quick...this isn't for you. Since the food is made fresh to order, it does take some time but it is well worth it. The menu is "rotated" based on seasonal items however there are some constants. We have been there several times now and this place is consistent with quality. We were lucky to have met the chef and sous chef....GREAT guys! Both are humble, appreciative and want to exceed expectations. If you have not been, you should go.
