Nice venue. We had…read moredinner with great service. Appetizers were short ribs, which were served grilled with some kim chee, and scallops that were served over something white pured. My favorite was the clam chowder soup, which was creamy, rich, and very tasty. We also shared a salad which had a spring mix, light vinegarette with some asparagus. It needed some kind of goat cheese or feta cheese as well as some nuts. For the main entree, we had a steak (medium rare) with unique onions (?balsamic grilled?) with broccolini that we enjoyed whereas the fish was a little on the dry side over a bed of rissoto. Dessert was creme brulee (good) and a chocolate forest cake (did not taste that great but maybe I don't like cherries like that.) Live music with guitar and singing was occurring in the lounge. That was lovely but it was a little too loud. The atmosphere is nice-- bar area with some table seating in the lounge area. We also liked the patio terrace outside which has fire pits and outdoor games. It has a lovely view of the downtown. (And remember that it does not get dark in San Jose in summers until around 9pm). The club also has a formal dining room, business conference/meeting rooms, ballrooms, etc. for any occasion. Parking is underground in the building and will be validated. Looking forward to our next visit.

Honestly my favorite social space I have ever been to!…read more I flew all the way to attend an esports event, which was ran great through the venue. When guildhouse opened to the general public in the afternoon, the atmosphere lit up. It's so casual and just a nice place to come and relax with your friends. There are a ton of amenities, whether it's board games, video games(both PC stations and console stations), and esports streams displayed the whole time. Such a great place if you want to avoid typical bars and want a gaming or anime themed environment!

I guess it's getting there... 5yrs now and I'm finally seeing improvements to the place. Here's…read morewhat I like: 1. Improved lighting. It's a small step towards what we need. It's still a bit too dim for board gaming, but we will take what we can get. This negative is what I'm constantly hearing from everyone when I'm hosting games. I don't need it looking like a laboratory, but if every bulb was upgraded by 200lumens, it would solve the issue. I understand they want the space looking ambient. But hey, cater to your demographic. The LED strips that were put in a few months ago was a step in the right direction. 2. The new TitanTron thing. It's fabulous looking. And really showcases what's meant to be highlighted during events. 3. New additions to the food menu. This was sorely needed. Many of us were constantly leaving to go elsewhere to grab sustenance. I think many OGs still aren't aware of it, but it's slowly catching on. We tend to have blinders on if there aren't pictures. Maybe try just a poster or two somewhere to boost your sales? 4. The Game Corner Being able to borrow games is fantastic and has really grown the space and hobby as a whole. I see plenty of people diving into the hobby for the first time and it's wonderful to see. Instead of walking in and only dilly dallying for 30min, many are now staying for an hour or two. 5. Utilizing the entire space. For years, I saw the extra rooms sit empty and was mind blown. As a former manager in hospitality, that blew me away. That's basically pissing money down the drain. You're paying the lease on the space. Why wouldn't you put it all to use? Hire an events manager if you need to--part time even. Trust me, it pays off. I'm now seeing the extra rooms consistently used/booked. Anything that attracts bodies to the space is a good thing. Often, energy is what makes an establishment successful. And energy will beget energy. I'll come back when I have more time to list what I still don't like:

Were it not for ZogSports, with the level of organization and follow-through, I would not have played softball at all last year (for love of the game!) nor made some solid connections that have endured past the end of the season. Occasionally you will have a couple people who come into this league knowing how to play volleyball but are there anyways for a ego boost. If you are new to volleyball, read here. Yes this league may be a good starting point as it's very beginner level play, it's good for work teams and meeting new people. But you won't want to be here for long. There are the occasional try-hards that will come into the league to feel good about themselves by hitting hard and running plays on a net that's lower than women's height. Another downside is that some of these players think they can play but in fact they are very dangerous and make it very unsafe. Landing under the net and causing ankle sprains when you block is very common here. So play smart, watch out for others. If you have some volleyball experience and understand the game, read here. This league is very poorly ran. You have one ref that does not understand the rules of volleyball. No calls are made, clear doubles where the ball is spiraling, crazy players who jump and land under the net, players touching the net and lifts. You call your own lines, so in and out calls are all on you and the other team. The ref literally is there to just blow the whistle for serve and then flip the score. They dont even have anyone setting up the nets for you as well, so you need to set it up yourself. The net is literally lower than womens height. So if you're here playing with some new friends who are learning to play, have some integrity to play to the level of others and be safe. I played in this league before it became Zog (Dynamic sports) id say it has changed but not for the better. Same stuff as it was 5-6 years ago. If you are looking for some better play there are other leagues out there. Campbell Community center used to have a good one they may or may not still be running. Then there's IVL if you're looking for competitive play. Zog by far is the most expensive league and the total amount of games you play in the season is less then all these other leagues I mentioned. So if you're factoring bang for your buck. Zog is definitely not that.

When I asked about purchasing a local cider they carried I was given directions to the maker, what time they opened, and who I should talk to when I get there. Now that's going above and beyond. There was a nice variety of drinks and they were delicious. I loved the layout of the venue very intimate with the stage but still tons of standing room and if you didn't want to be inside with the crowd there was a tv with the ample outside seating where you could watch the band. The bathrooms were very spacious and super clean. The little taco stand in the back was perfect too. The tacos were delicious. I wish we had a place just like Moe's in Sacramento . I will definitely come to Moe's again next time in town.

He asked for my ID despite not asking any of my other family members, even though it was obvious I had arrived with them. That immediately made me question why I was being treated differently due to his tone and professionalism. Throughout the event, he continued staring me down in a way that felt intimidating and unnecessary. Then, after already announcing that there were 15 minutes left before closing, he approached me again and told me I needed to finish my drink right then. The tone and approach felt aggressive and disrespectful. I understand security has a job to do, but there is a professional and respectful way to interact with people. Instead, I left feeling targeted as a Latina, uncomfortable, and unwelcome at an event that was supposed to be about celebrating community and culture.
