This review is purely for Zog's volleyball league. This league is extremely beginner level. Lots of work teams and new players. Occasionally you will have a couple people who come into this league knowing how to play volleyball but are there anyways for a ego boost. If you are new to volleyball, read here. Yes this league may be a good starting point as it's very beginner level play, it's good for work teams and meeting new people. But you won't want to be here for long. There are the occasional try-hards that will come into the league to feel good about themselves by hitting hard and running plays on a net that's lower than women's height. Another downside is that some of these players think they can play but in fact they are very dangerous and make it very unsafe. Landing under the net and causing ankle sprains when you block is very common here. So play smart, watch out for others. If you have some volleyball experience and understand the game, read here. This league is very poorly ran. You have one ref that does not understand the rules of volleyball. No calls are made, clear doubles where the ball is spiraling, crazy players who jump and land under the net, players touching the net and lifts. You call your own lines, so in and out calls are all on you and the other team. The ref literally is there to just blow the whistle for serve and then flip the score. They dont even have anyone setting up the nets for you as well, so you need to set it up yourself. The net is literally lower than womens height. So if you're here playing with some new friends who are learning to play, have some integrity to play to the level of others and be safe. I played in this league before it became Zog (Dynamic sports) id say it has changed but not for the better. Same stuff as it was 5-6 years ago. If you are looking for some better play there are other leagues out there. Campbell Community center used to have a good one they may or may not still be running. Then there's IVL if you're looking for competitive play. Zog by far is the most expensive league and the total amount of games you play in the season is less then all these other leagues I mentioned. So if you're factoring bang for your buck. Zog is definitely not that. read more

Age required: 21 Age as of May, 9th 2022 Why this arbitrary requirement? The league starts in early 2023. I turned 21 in August, so apparently even though I am of proper age I needed to be a few months older to qualify for this league. Can anyone explain an intelligible reason for this? read more

I'm only familiar with the basketball league and it's a waste of money. I referred some people to join me in this league and makes it look like I set them up for these poor outcomes. It's been my 1st league joining and don't plan to return. The scheduling of games is terrible. read more

Bad experience. The original Dynamic owner was awful. Worst customer experience ever for an expensive league. I believe Zog is a different ownership group that acquired Dynamic. Anyway, their customer service is also bad and it's disappointing given their high price tag, which is usually 50 or 60% higher than the local city run leagues for usually 33% less games. read more

Met great friends here. Don't expect referee with consistent quality. They changed their refs often. Everyone here is for fun. If you're new and know some volleyball, it's a great place to practice. If you're good, you're here to socialize. read more

PROTIP: Don't sign up for the Tuesday night bowling league! It is the most unorganized league I have ever seen. I had high hopes because the emails that were sent out before the first game seemed very helpful and well organized. When I arrived for the first game, I met the organizer and little did I know, that would be the last I ever see of him. He does not even show up to the games anymore. There were supposed to be 6 teams of 4 people each. 2 of the teams didn't show up....EVER. The first week, we played another team that happened to show up. The second week, the other team never showed up so we were playing against ourselves? The third week, we played another free agent team that also made the same mistake as I did and signed up for this league. The fourth week, we played that SAME TEAM AGAIN. Some people brought their friends to replace them that weren't even signed up for the league and nobody cares. The fifth week, our other team didn't show up again so again, we were left to bowl against ourselves. Each night, we are supposed to start at 7:30, when I show up at that time, there's usually like 3 other people from the league there. No one shows up on time. I only learned of my average / handicap in week 4 (out of 6 weeks...) I signed up thinking this would be a good way to meet a lot of people, have fun bowling, and generally have a good time. Luckily, people actually showed up on my team so I met them but this league has been so unorganized that I would not recommend signing up for it. read more

Charges same prices as pre-covid. Doesn't provide tshirts. Games are cancelled because the venue turned off the lights due to permits. No restrooms available. They also did not refund any previous registration money when lockdown first occurred in March 2020. Only began offering sports in spring 2021. This is becoming a dumpster fire. They take your money, tell you no refunds, then cancel all your games. We joined a softball team that started in October, and we only played 3 games! Our games have been rescheduled due to "bad weather," yet there are other leagues playing on the same fields they claim are not fit to play on. And their communication is HORRIBLE! First, the game is canceled, then on again, then we show up and are told it's canceled. DO NOT JOIN THIS SPORTS LEAGUE!!! read more

My schedule can be pretty restrictive but I was able to find a co-ed softball league on Monday night to play. Were it not for ZogSports, with the level of organization and follow-through, I would not have played softball at all last year (for love of the game!) nor made some solid connections that have endured past the end of the season. This is only pertaining to the basketball league that I joined. Let's start with the Pros. Pros: The people participating were pretty friendly. There were on occasions one person on a team that would act like they were better than everyone else. There typically is, but realistically this is a rec league that people participate in to play the game they love and possibly network in the basketball community and this league does that just fine. Cons: I am a little perplexed as to how they couldn't get score keepers. This is a very minimal con because flipping the scoreboard ourselves isn't too hard. I am just surprised with how much they are charging per person that they couldn't get someone to keep track of scores, fouls, stats, etc. My biggest grievance is with the officiating crew. Hopefully Zog sports can get better ones. There were instances when they couldn't even get 2 refs officiating one game. On top of that, the quality of the officials were subpar at best. I distinctly recall one game where 4 different players told me they fouled me on 4 separate drives. I simply replied "I know, they don't call sh** here." Another game where I was fouled fairly hard and just told the official about it and asked him to look out for that next time. He replied "Sorry I missed it, I was watching your drive in." I thought to myself "If you were watching my drive in, then how did you not see the foul???" I think the officiating upsets me mostly because if you allow hard fouls to happen, then there is a high likelihood of injuries to occur and, frankly, I am not trying to get hurt over a rec league... There's no restrictions/supervision on who plays. A team we played didn't have enough people show up for the game so they asked players from the previous game join them for the day. Truthfully, we (our team) didn't really care. But this is just a heads up that any team can bring in a ringer at any time and their tier system of skill level won't really matter because no one is supervising the games to prevent this from happening. read more

Played several seasons of soccer with this company and it only got worse every season. Refs were horrible and combative. I would never play for this league again. I've played soccer for 30 Years and for so many leagues and this is the only place I would never come back to. It's unfortunate to not be able to have fun with something you love. The refs, especially the head ref, wouldn't even have a discussion about inconsistencies within calls, safety, and vulgarity. We had another player call one of our players something horrible and the head ref didn't even care, but if you question one of their calls (don't even try and question and off sides of out of bounds) you get carded. The don't even set up the fields for you and yet we pay for what? Good luck if you give it a go. read more

My friends and I play in their basketball league and we all fell as a team that this is the biggest waste of time and our money. You have a blonde lady who "supposedly" runs the shot clock and score. All she does is sit there and play with her dog. There have been instances where she forgot to start back the clock, stop the clock at crucial moments of a game and have missed on adding points when scored. When the game is close and in a crucial points within two minutes, arent you supposed to stop the clock after every possession and timeout? Well, this blond chick doesn't follow the rules that theyve employed, plus she has a bit of an attitude. Very annoying. In one of the past games, my team and I swore than she had forgotten to tack on like 5 or 6 points. We paid a lot of money and if they want us to keep own score, the cut this person out and we'll do it our damn self. Now, these refs. Wow, these are a bunch of jokers who have "no idea" how to ref. All the players on our team have all been playing organized sports since kids and these guys are very inconsistent and do not make calls that are sooooo obvious. For instance, a guy clearly walks / travels on a play, I advise, "arent you going to call that?" He just looks back and laughs. Wtf are you doing there then if your not going to "ref." You have instances where players are getting hit in the face when driving to the hoop on two straight possessions and they are not calling a thing. It is like these refs just want to speed the game up so they can go home and collect their participation checks. There are only a few weeks left and we as a team already decided not to come back. We've even mentioned just letting the games ride out and not show up. That is how much we hate this league that we would just let it go and cut our losses. We are one of the top teams in the standing so I am not complaining just cause we are losing. We are winning. We have other groups of friends (three other teams) that have asked us if the league is legit and have advised that it is the biggest joke of any league you will have ever played in. In the beginning, we were discussing possibly joining the softball league, but they lost their partnership with twin creek and their game personnel are a joke. We also talked about the flag football and dodgeball league before our basketball league experience, but there is no chance in hell after this. We will be looking into the Milpitas and Morgan Hill leagues next and cannot wait to finish up this league and not have to deal with these unprofessional game personnel. If you are planning to look into this club, just turn back. There are so many more other leagues that have a million times better personnel. This is one of the worst I have ever been involved with. read more

I've been playing with Zog for over a year. I've done soccer, flag football, and basketball. The league is well organized and the other players are (mostly) friendly - 95%. Being new to the area, it has been a great way to meet new people and get some much-needed exercise. Age/gender is no issue - young, old, male, female - all are welcome! Highly recommend! read more

I've been playing with Zog since they first expanded to SF and, now in South Bay, joined up with San Jose for close to a year now. Volleyball leagues are super fun and certainly competitive in the upper leagues. I do wish there was a bit more focus/energy on postgame shenanigans as all the people are great and I'd love a good excuse to hang out more! read more

Overall a good program and have met a lot of my good friends on here so I'm very happy with that. Their level of play per sport is based on the people that come out and play and then they try to divide them accordingly. My 4 stars is mainly for their pricing. They are very expensive for 6-7 weeks of play at one game a week, but I guess being in the Bay Area helps them with that. read more

I got introduced to the ZogSports coed basketball league by a friend. They were down a few players and needed me to fill in for a game. It was so much fun! Felt like I was in the NBA for a second with the refs making the calls. It's nice to have referees on the court. I ended up playing in another playoff game because I enjoyed it that much. The game lasted for about an hour and I got to meet some new people who were working in the area. I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to play some ball. read more

That's pretty much the story of The Avengers, Season 1. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take a group of ~15 strangers, a complete lack of pitching talent, a steady losing record throughout the season, and a spectacular last place finish, and mix thoroughly. Let marinate for 8 weeks of games. And you've got yourself the perfect concoction for THE AVENGERS: AWESOMEST SOFTBALL TEAM EVER. Seriously, though, this league is great! It's a great blend of people, skill levels, commitment levels, but definitely with a steady stream of fun. This league really does a good job of ensuring a nice balance between competitive and social. I enjoyed it enough that I will be signing back up for the Winter Dodgeball league. Throughout the season my team grew closer and really enjoyed playing together (despite our 1-win record). No worries, worthy opponents, we'll be back in the Spring for Season 2. Why? I would recommend DSSC! I first joined in as a free agent for volleyball not knowing anyone in the summer, but after the first season I built a friendship with a lots of people on the team. Everyone is friendly and you can join a team at any level (amateur/competitive). It's a great way to get to know some people especially if you just moved into the area and also get to play your favorite sport! The Regional Manager for DSSC, Chris Davis, and the new Operations Associate, Jose, are super friendly, approachable, and helpful! Their customer service goes above and beyond! If you send them an email, they respond within 24 hours (in my experience). Chris is very transparent and honest when he conducts business. His emails are also so personable and I really like that! The people in charged are a joke as the organization. When it comes for them to take your money they are all for it, but ask for a fair treatment they will ignore you. Brandon, playing boss. Jason Evans claims to know how to be fair but he has no clue what he is doing. Security guards are thugs. Let's talk about the fields, they are horrible to play soccer on, I have seen more injuries since them moved to Twin peeks than ever, not to mention the horrific smell (OK not their problem) but it sucks playing there plain and simple. Save your money, there are better leagues out there that appreciate you way more than these individuals.. I've been having a blast at Dynamic's kickball league. Two things really stand out to me: 1) the organization and management of the league. Brandon has been really on top of things and installed a system of flexibility that allows us to improve the games/rules as we go along to make sure we're all having as much fun as possible. 2) the players and league culture. Everyone is outgoing and super friendly (after just a few games I've made as many new friends from other teams as my own team), and even though we do have umpires, the sportsmanship is overflowing. After all, this is kickball - we don't get too carried away on the close calls ;) Oh yeah, and some cheap drinks at SJBG after each game isn't half bad either! I enjoy playing sports, but the rules that Dynamic has enforced for certain activities are quite school yard. Their soccer referees are highly unqualified and lack any experience with actual game situations. Not once have I seen an advantage call correctly attributed, yellow cards are given for minor infractions, and they disrupt the flow of the game due to lack of knowledge of the rules/sport in general. There was 1 European referee who was knowledgeable, but other than that it seemed to be run by people who were doing it for the money, not because they love/enjoy/play the game. Takes away from the natural atmosphere. You're better off getting a group of randoms together on the weekends or playing pickup; or spending $90 on your vice of choice. read more

This league is a waste of time. It's not social, let's be honest. I tried a couple of different sports, flag football, kickball (no one hangouts after games, referees are very bad) soccer, (I've never seen worst referees, older couple and co ref Sunday nights, lady doesn't speak English, gets everyone confused, her husband gets on your face for asking her what's she doing. Calling offsides on a thrown in from out of bounds) I even tried indoor soccer with my girlfriend but league is a joke. (Ladies don't join indoor soccer, you will get hurt) I'll stick to Palo Alto leagues for soccer. Waka for social leagues. Btw. SO MUCH FUN. I've only played three kickball games and I already have so many new friends! Dynamic is such a good time and a great way to meet new people. It really is the perfect balance of competition and fun. In the beginning of the season, there were some mishaps with schedules, etc. but considering how young the league is, the founder Brandon is rockin it. We signed up to play softball at the brand new fields in San Jose. COVID halted the start of the season and we were refused a refund. Finally, we received notification that we would be starting on June 9. We rallied the team and were excited about playing on these new fields. Now we have been informed that the league will be split to two alternate fields which are rutty, unsafe, and not well taken care of. Again, no refund is available. I think that this is very poor business management and we should be able to cancel our team sign up and receive a refund. We signed up to play on new fields and you are not honoring that initial sign up agreement. I realize that we are all making exceptions in dealing with COVID but a refund should be an option as well if you cannot honor your end of the deal. read more

Just moved out to California and played in my first kickball league with WAKA. While I enjoyed meeting new people, definitely didn't like having to ref games as well (thought I was signing up to play, not to ref!). Switchd to Dynamic Kickball league a few weeks ago and am so happy I did. Rules with this league make the game more competitive and fun, especially for girls (I actually feel like I'm playing in the game rather than just standing in the field like a 4 year old playing T-ball). The league is very well organized and tons of fun. Can't wait to sign up for other leagues they put together. Definitely recommend joining! read more

All-around awesome. My husband and I moved to the Bay Area in February 2012, and we've been playing with Dynamic ever since. The staff at Dynamic are so helpful, knowledgable, and friendly. Kickball is our sport of choice, and our team has been mostly the same since 2012; a team that was originally a bunch of free-agents and now we're all great friends. In addition to kickball, we've played two or three seasons each of soccer, volleyball, dodgeball, and bowling! It's competitive enough to make it exciting and challenging, yet friendly and fun at the same time. There's a bar and restaurant on-site at their new location in Sunnyvale, and it's really easy to grab a beer after the game (or during the game) with your team. :) read more

Dynamic is the best. Every single night that we have a league to play in is the best night of the week. We've done it all - kickball, dodgeball, bowling, volleyball, ultimate disc, soccer, inner tube water polo! Everything is run extremely well. We joined Dynamic over 3 years ago when we moved to the Bay Area to meet people and for the fun sports. We've met so many people and have some great friends thanks to DSSC. Not to mention the sports are run efficiently and with fun in mind. After almost every game, we go to a sponsored bar for drinks and fun with our team! Brandon, Aubrie, and Alissa are all super helpful. If you ever need anything, they're always available to help. I would highly recommend trying any Dynamic sport! read more

The refs are absolutely horrible, they do not enforce same rules for all players , you can get sent off for absolutely nothing , or even just talking to your teammates can get you sent off , players pay to play in these leagues and some drive from far away but these refs have no respect or knowledge about the game at all, if you looking to have some fun it can get frustrating really fast read more

This was my first experience in anything but a softball type league. I am really enjoying my time. My co workers and I are in a kickball league. I love the variety of sports that they offer, anything from flag football to kickball. The organization is really good, they are usually pretty good with updating the scores and standings on the website. Probably the best thing about this league is the social aspect that follows after the games. Drinking with your opponent is the best way to resolve any hostility on the field and we have a great time doing it! My only comment is the range of umpires you can get depending on when you play. There are some that are fair then you get others that seem like they would rather be anywhere else then there. Sometimes they don't really pay attention and make unfair calls (one rule applies to this team, but not the other). I don't think they favor anyone, but they just forget the rules sometimes themselves... For the most part, we get great umpires, but once in a while you can get some that could be better. So from our experience, the kickball league is extremely fun! Definitely worth doing with a group of friends or coworkers. Too bad they don't offer a nonprofit discount! read more
