Unless you're Chinese and speak Mandarin don't bother getting lessons here. The coaches have something personal against having to speak English. Treated my son like crap so we never went back. The annoyed "coach" asked him in English to pick up the shuttlecocks and after he was half done he didn't like the stack so he flipped the tub and told him to do it again while the other kids laughed. Pro: Walk in allowed. Cons: Extremely difficult to get a court. Not because of the number of people but because of their system. It's really messed up. Can reserve for 30 mins maximum and have to re-reserve it again. And be in the waitlist after 30 mins of play. Can get very annoying. Okay for 30 mins and wait for 30-45 mins to get a court again. Also, if two players want to use the whole court, it is not possible. Two others can book the same court for the same time. And we have to share half court with them. A solid three stars. I came here during off hours during the day between 3-5 and my friend and I had no problem finding a court of our own to practice on. BBC used to be Smash City a while ago, but they changed this a few years ago. Prices for drop-in have increased over the years, and now drop-in play is $10. So, definitely stay longer and get your money's worth! There is no air conditioning here, so prepare to bring a towel, a change of shirt, and lots of water. Very standard badminton gym to play at. Nothing too spectacular or out of the ordinary here. read more

Courts are good especially they are now upgraded. The reason I am giving 3 stars is because of the BAD/MEAN RECEPTIONIST. Otherwise I would have given 4-5 stars for the really good courts and amazing coaches. I have been there at least a dozen times and this receptionist guy is unprofessional, grumpy and mean, and has no sense of how to treat customers. My last 2 experiences has been really sour and he should be fired unless he is owner. Anyway I am going to a different place now and the new place has ok customer service. They are organized with groups and time management. The people that come here are respectful when it's time to switch courts and didn't feel threatened by any of the members. It seems a ton of people that go here are really good and the space is open enough that I'm not accidentally going into another groups court as I fetch my shuttle. They have a good amount of rental racquets and they were better than the racquets we brought in. We bought ours at a grocery store - 2 for $20. Parking here is a bit rough especially on a Sunday night. read more

I've been here few times and all the courts are very decent to play a good Badminton game. I've enjoyed my times here quite well playing some good games with the Hubby, friends and once with even a stranger couple, who on their own approached us to play doubles team game. They've amazing Yonex rackets. We've purchased once from the store (long time ago) & through online recently. I should admit, both rackets are in great condition and the one we got long before, it's still my favorite. I've also found some good Groupon deals for 1 badminton outing for two or four, which the previous reviewer had already posted. So nothing much to say here and their Nylon Shuttlecocks are nice for the price you pay. Worth trying it out! When I visited this center couple of weeks ago, I saw many aspiring kids practicing and getting ready for some training session. It was nice to see how they warmed up and giving all their energies to develop their sport skills. I don't mind learning helpful game tricks from these kids. I must say, they were very competitive, can't take them for granted. By far, I've had no issues with the counter people or other fellow visitors and their washroom/ restrooms are decent to use. There's ample parking in front of their entrance and of course when you're in the location, you'l know how big the whole parking lot is. So, I don't think there'l be major issues here. This Bay Badminton Center location is a great fit to the neighborhood. I've had good experiences so far and have never waited for a court to play either. I'll be glad to continue my Badminton times here as long as they continue to provide decent services. read more

Good place to get your smashing on. This is my go to place for badminton the past few years, although I've only recently started to go more often. For $9 dollars ($6 before 4Pm M-F), you can get a hell of a lot of games in. They also offer monthly/annual memberships as well as a 10x pass for discounted prices. There are 13 courts here, 12 normally available through the queuing system and one challenge court. The way the electronic queuing system work is that you and your friends can sign up for any court that's available for 30 minutes at a time. If all the courts are full, you'll immediately be put on the waitlist for that court. A timer shows up on the screen and on the giant projector on the side shows how much time you have left or how much time you have to wait. This place gets super busy, but wait times are manageable. The longest I ever had to wait was 20 minutes, but that's because 4 courts were being taken up for training. That leads me to another thing. Although this place has 13 courts, 2-4 courts are taken up at almost any given time for training, which sucks for a casual player such as myself. The coaches and trainees have the power to kick you off at any time because it's "their court" -_- There's nothing you can do about it. This place sells all badminton supplies and does stringing as well. Prices are okay, but competitive enough. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the sport. Tuesday night!!! There's no fight for court space! Between me and my friend, we were able to stay on the court as long as we wanted. $7/person; FYI--there's student discount, so bring your student ID! This is a good place to get some exercise or perfect your badminton skills. The facility is a little cooler than I would prefer, but once you start playing, you start sweating! I was actually surprised how high tech this place was for a badminton facility. There are computers on the court for you to reserve your court!! However, if you go on a weekday, there's really no need for the computer. Be warn: Bay Badminton Center is in the middle of nowhere, in between warehouses! Friendly crew. It does get crowded though so you'll just need to know what time and day to go. People do leave when their time is up so rather polite I guess. The color scheme is so much better than Bintang or CBA. I feel like playing at Bintang or CBA is like playing at a John Deere factory. BUT, this floors are very slippery and it does get very hot or very cold based on the season. I still like this place better than most other places that offer badminton. Prices are pretty good, 10 sessions for $70. Snacks are $1 each no matter what you get. 10% discounts of merchandise for members and membership rates are well priced. No one pays attention to the reservations for the courts. We came here on a groupon one day and it seemed the open courts were being used by the bay club members even though they werent reserved on the computer nor were there any signs to mark the court reserved. We did as the person told us to do...check for open courts on the computer and put our names down..but when we went to the supposed open court it was being used...weird. So we just used an open court for about 45 mins til we were sweating so much from the non-air conditioned facility. This is my first badminton center that I have been to outside of school establishments so I don't have anything to compare it with. What i can say is that it's $8 to play for ages 16 and up the whole day, as long as you do not leave the building. In the summer, it does generally get crowded during the weekends in the morning, but once it hits the afternoon, courts start to become quite open, though the heat does become quite bothersome too. It has a clean bathroom and even one shower room ! read more

Their court reservation system could use some improvements. It's simple but it takes a while to load up and select your court if you got a big group. Can't make changes yourself if you make a mistake or throw in a dummy player if the group ahead of you has 3 (for ex:) on the court manually (should have that option). Be nice if there were timers on each court that sync up to timers in the queue system too. Always have to tell players their time is over. There are also a lot of courts being reserved for lessons in the evenings so the "available" courts do backup a bit. All in all, it's an okay place but could use some improvements. read more

Amazing experience at Bay Badminton Center, the coaches are very nice and care greatly for their students. Coach Joe coached in a way that helps me improve in specific areas while keeping things simple and always asks for student input on what they need to improve on. This would have been an otherwise great place to play, however there were some serious issues: 1) the floors were so dusty, i kept sliding around everywhere and honestly it's pretty horrible for your joints. 2) I'm not completely sure, but it feels like their light bulbs contributed to the heat issue. There is absolutely NO form of at least indirect ventilation (i understand you don't want the wind to be blowing and messing with the flow of the bird), but i've been to at least a few places where they had door in the back that was at least mildly cracked open, or windows with curtain screens further up the top to help regulate the heat. This place could easily double as a bikram yoga center. Their queue system is easy enough to understand and otherwise this is just your standard badminton center - but if they just fixed these two things they could really be a LOT better. They have good customer service as well. Prices are pretty standard. read more

First of all, the first time I came here a few years back was an awkward experience. For newcomers, the location is absolutely horrible, it's a labyrinth to find! It's basically just a warehouse surrounded by other warehouses, except this warehouse has no company name label or anything saying "Bay Badminton Center"! It was extremely confusing to look for, and it's in the back of the entire center...hidden in a corner.. After your first time, though, things are a breeze. The front desk people are really chill and friendly, and they do know their badminton stuff and are willing to help you out. Prices aren't exactly bargains, but hey, what do you expect? The sign in system is very easy to use, you just tell the front desk person your name and after your first time, your account is always in the system ready to be accessed on your next visit! The $5 fee is kind of disagreeable, but I've heard that it's risen, which is absurd! But again, I can't completely attest to that rumor since I haven't gone in a while. The courts are very nice and it's well air-conditioned inside. The bathrooms are clean, there is a water fountain for you to use, and even showers and lockers. It gets crowded around lunchtime and in the afternoon as well, so I usually go early in the morning...When there's a lot of people, it gets annoying reserving courts because 30 minutes really does fly by quickly. The thing that really grinds my gears is the new updated class schedule...Now on Saturdays (the day many people go to play!), badminton CLASSES have 10 out of the 12 courts completely reserved! That's absurd, because when I went, everybody was basically fighting over the 2 non-class courts. Absolutely unacceptable. People who aren't taking BBC's classes are paying money to be there too, so 2 courts? That's a stretch...seriously. Since that update and the new prices, I haven't really gone anymore. BBC used to be a lot better long back, but now, the corrupted money-hungry updates have gotten a lot of people angry. Sure, when you're playing, you have fun and it's a blast. But the court trading systems and the interference from the classes and the court reservation updates have really taken so much fun out of it. Half of the time, I'm just sitting on the side bench, waiting for a court. Eventually I get frustrated and end up leaving earlier than planned with my friends. BBC used to be a great center for badminton athletes to train and practice, but now has become more money-hungry and given more opportunities to the little kids taking private classes. If BBC wants to save its reputation, then it better step up its game. read more

Came here to buy my sister some badminton shoes. They only have a wide variety amount of gear but it's really small. This facility has a odor that needs to go away.... but assuming that there are people here always playing/practicing you would understand. I believe it's $10 to play which isn't bad. This place is horrible. They have really bad ventilation--heat is all trapped inside. Don't think about using their queue system. Most of the courts were already booked by the BBC that only 1/2 court left for public to queue. It takes forever to play one single game. This business should be a SAUNA instead of badminton court. Pros: -Better customer service relative to other badminton places -Very simple queuing system for courts -Clean relative to other badminton gyms Cons: -Floor tends to be a little more slippery than other gyms -Peak hours are extremely busy If you are a first timer to badminton or are just looking for a one-off friends group activity, Bay Badminton Center Milpitas is will suit your needs perfectly provided you DO NOT GO DURING PEAK HOURS (lunchtime weekdays, 5-7:30pm weekends). Yes, BBC has 13 courts, some of which get taken up by training classes. THIS HAPPENS AT EVERY BADMINTON FACILITY. Call in, ask about what times are good for a group of friends or family looking to have some fun, and avoid busy hours unless you're willing to wait around a lot. Also, most if not all badminton gyms (BBC included) are NOT AIR CONDITIONED! It gets hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Deal with it! A quick note about the queuing system: if you sign up on a court and there are people playing on it, you simply have to tell them that you've signed up and they'll get off the court! If you are an experienced badminton player, chances are you've already been here or know about this place. If not, BBC Milpitas has 1 challenge court (except during peak hours) and 30 minute court rotations. Come with a group of 4 or more to fully book a court at each rotation. One of the main points that has kept me coming back here is the customer service. Customer service and stringing is much better here at BBC than other gyms. I have never had a problem getting my rackets strung by BBC's modern stringing machines and staff while I have had rackets CRACKED from being strung at other locations with archaic, perhaps unskilled stringing staff. read more

This is a review for their summer program, which indicates that it is ideal for ages 6 and up. It is not ideal for young kids. 1. Class structure: 3 younger teenage looking kids run the class. They intermix older students and young students, so your small child will be doing drills next to a bunch of teenagers. They do not send a "preparation" memo or anything. You arrive with no idea about what to expect/do. 2. DRILLS, really? They will be asked to run laps around the gymnasium, in a poorly vented gym. They will be doing DRILLS, yes drills. I'm not asking you to train a champion or soldier. I just wanted my child to have fun playing badminton. 3. No access to a water fountain nearby. 4. The young men running the class made no effort to sort students by age or ability level. They made no effort to adjust the drills or notice that some students were really struggling. We pulled our child after 15 minutes, to which she said "I'm sorry mom, I guess I'm not very good at badminton after all." It was such a disaster for her. Another younger boy approached us, and said to, "Can you help me? I really want to go home, but my mom and dad are not here." He was crying. Please, please, please adjust the structure of your summer program. I'm giving this 2 stars as they promised me a refund. I hope I get it because 20 minutes into that class, I was wishing I had never heard of their summer program. read more

Played at this location a couple times and found it nice and clean. The computer reservation systems are for 30 minutes of play. There are 12 Courts for players and 1 Challenge Court. There are times when 6-8 out of the 12 courts are reserved for training. The Pro shop has all the popular Yonex and Victor rackets with stringing services. There are some rude Indian players at this location which don't follow the reservation system and play on other people's time. Last Friday, I saw 4 Indian guys jump on a Reserved Court for kids training. After the coach asked them nicely to move, one of them argued with the coach that he had a membership so was entitled. The Indian guy then argued with the front desk and threatened to call the police because he couldn't play right away. Been going to BBC for about 8 years now. My go to place until bintang opened up about a mile away. Some employees are pretty rude, for example: I went to restring my racket and guy didn't give me my racket pick up ticket. He says he will call me when it's ready. A week and a half later, I had to call because a week or more was way too long. I called them and they said it was done the day after I gave them my racket. When I picked up my racket, same rude employee didn't give me racket at first cause I didn't have a pick up ticket ( which I never recieved). Tl;dr : says they will call when ready, didn't call. Overall good place. Less courts. Sometimes gets crowded. read more

Started going here with some friends for some casual games and exercise. Prices are average, drop in rate is $8 or you can pay for a 10 entry pass for $70 or a 12 entry pass for $84, $5 to rent a racquet or you can buy one there, they've got a decent selection. The place is open until 11pm Mon thru Sat and til 9pm on Sun. They have a computer system that tracks each players ID, which of the 13 courts you are playing on, and how much time you have left to play on that court(each court is allowed 20-30 mins when it is crowded). One negative of this place is that there is no AC. I guess you can't expect AC but during the summer when it is 90 degrees out I could imagine it feeling like bikram badminton inside there! read more

Came here with my friend after reminiscing about the good old badminton days when I was still in HS. The gym is located in a business warehouse park and tucked all the way in the back with a glass door that says, "Bay Badminton Center" on it. Walking up to the front desk, we were greeted by the friendly staff and told to sign up and make an account on the computer. I went on a Sunday night and the fee was $8 per person. We came around 7:30pm and got a court right away even though there were quite a number of people there. Not too empty, not too crowded. :] The courts were decent but it got too hot. I don't think they had AC on that night. I went to buy a powerade from the vending machines but none of them would take my dollar bills so I had to ask the front desk people to help. They were really nice about it and I got my drink. Too bad it costs $2 ... that's pretty expensive! Next time I'll remember to bring my own. :] read more

I have been taking weekly training at Bay Badminton Center for almost 2 years. My coach Chandra helped me a lot on my badminton skill and knowledge. Before, I had no idea on rotation and how to return the shot and defend properly. Now, I feel more confident and play better in game. I have been playing at Milpitas Bintang every week since my badminton buddies are there. The lighting at Bay Badminton Center is much better than Bintang. The only issue (just my opinion) is the floor (too hard). It is not as good as other badminton courts. But I know their management is installing new floor which is much better than the old one. And they are also putting effort to make the gym be a better place to play now. Keep up the good work! read more

This place has a horrible queue system, they need a better way to manage the players on each court. You have to waitlist all your people before they can play. If you're like me and come with only a partner, you can end up getting split up with your partner if someone feom the waiting's list drops off. I hate their stupid system, go somewhere that makes more sense to play, they also have majority of their courts reserved. You only get 20 mins per turn and end up waiting 40+ mins assuming that you don't get pulled off the waiting list before your partner. They owners need to update their ridiculous system to something that makes more sense. I will never come back here. Also, it was freezing inside, they either had the a.c. blasting or have no heaters installed which sucks on cold days. Don't come here unless you find a non-peak time. read more
