She has an uncanny ability to anticipate what people want--even when they can't articulate it--and always finds creative, customized solutions. Her customer service is next-level. She also gave us on-the-spot lessons in design theory, which I genuinely appreciated and can now apply moving forward. As we cleared out what had to be 20+ bags of clutter, she offered to take care of both trash and donations, and had a hauling service at our house within the hour. I literally told her, "You're making all my problems go away." If you're looking for someone who combines logistics, empathy, design, and wizard-level efficiency--Monica's your person.

She is prompt, communicative, friendly, and very professional. Not only did Monica help get rid of years of clutter, but she also had very good ideas for how to re-organize our furniture to maximize our space. Moreover, Monica wanted to assure that my children would take away lessons for how to keep the house clean and organized. I was extremely impressed and very grateful for her help. I would highly recommend Monica to anyone, no matter how difficult the situation might be.

She is a high energy, outgoing person who truly has a personal mission to help others and see them change. With her help I certainly have experienced this. She has brought me new a new life full of new possibilities. She consistently shows up for work on time and smiling, ready to go! She uses every minute of her time and when she leaves she not only picks up after herself, she picks up the rest of the room so that you are left feeling spacious and peaceful. She has sensible, practical ideas for room design and will counsel you to use what you have and not to buy expensive replacements unless you choose to do so. She knows how to condense your space using every inch of it while making everything easily visible and accessible, and easy to put back in place so you can keep your space looking neat all the time. It is a joy for me now to be able to put things away! She has opened up my small living room that also serves as my art studio, and I so enjoy looking at my "vast open spaces"! I now have room for a convertible sofa in the living room so my daughter can stay overnight with me when she visits, instead of staying at a nearby hotel. My relationship with my children has changed for the better because of this and the whole family is happier. Maribel has cleaned out my 10 x 10 storeroom in two afternoons, made my fronthall closet into a pantry, decorated my front hall, revised my kitchen and done major work on my living room/art studio. She is not afraid to tackle any problem, and can handle heavy lifting and carpentry. She will start a difficult project at the end of the day, just walks right into it and uses all her time. She is always aware that you are the boss. She will meet you on your wavelength and never force you to do anything you do not want to do. She is a holistic, healthy, cheerful person and working to change your space and your life is actually her happy place!!

We won four hours of organizing services from Lisa at The Time Butler at a charity auction…read more We put off calling Lisa for a few months, but we eventually got around to making the appointment for a two-hour visit. I stalled by giving her a tour of the house, which took up most of the time, but she did "encourage" us to clear off the kitchen table -- we filled up a couple of bags of paper during that exercise. She returned a couple of weeks later, and we used up the other donated hours. On that visit, we cleared out the media shelves in the family room, uncovered the coffee table, and rediscovered the desk. We also filled up several bags of stuff (books, VHS tapes, magazines, toys, and who knows what else) which were suitable for charitable donations -- and Lisa took it all away. She's been back twice since then, helping us deal with the shelves and desk in the kitchen, all of which are organized, clear, and usable for the first time in a long time. And again, we donated a bunch of stuff to charity (as well as filling a recycle bin!). In between visits, I got rid of some excess hardware by putting it on craigslist (most of it sold within an hour); I've also started transferring old VHS tapes to DVD (though why I needed a DVD version of King Dinosaur is a matter of some debate with the rest of the members of the household). There's no magic to it -- we're doing all the work (well, she wields the labelmaker...) and making all the decisions. But she acts as a forcing function -- when she hands us a pile to go through, it seems silly to just put it back where it was (though "later" is always a valid decision -- and I've deferred some things by moving them to a room we haven't reached yet). I'm happy we won her services, and happier that I finally got around to calling and making the appointment!

First, what they did right. They did not take anything to which they were not entitled. They…read moreshowed up when they said they would, and packed and removed the goods promptly and efficiently. These are notable virtues in the moving business. The problem came with the disposal and sale of the belongings. Throughout the planning process, and even during the packing, Amanda Kuzak kept emphasizing orally to me the diligence with which they would market and sell items. They would consult experts in particular fields, like books and clothing, and contract sales to them as deemed wise. They would prepare descriptions and sell items on eBay - it was for the time and effort involved in such activities, I presumed, that they charged a 35% commission on all sales, in addition to the time charge for packing and moving. The sale would, she told me, last for 30 days, after which unsold items would be donated. Most of the sales, though, she advised, would occur during the first ten days. She told me all this after she had reviewed the contents of the estate, and knew what there was to sell. She made, of course, no specific promises, but she certainly tried to convey a sense of expertise with the market. There was no indication whatever of what actually happened, which is that she sold the furniture and donated literally everything else to Goodwill and Hope Services. Not a bit of it was sold. Of course I realize that no reliable predictions could have been made, but this is far, far removed from anything I was led to expect. For art objects, she reported that there was no interest in them online, so the earlier claim that they would sell well was either a lie or an expression of gross incompetence at Kuzak's profession, which is working on a sense of what will sell and what will not. Not doing as well as expected is one thing, but not selling at all, after assuring me they would sell well, is not in the same ballpark. For books, she told me informally that they usually "work with" a used bookseller in Los Altos. That, I foolishly presumed, would mean that the professionals at there would look over the books, decide which would sell best, and probably make an offer for the entire stock. Instead, Amanda wrote me that this happened: "We took the books (2 boxes) that we thought would sell to a book store in Menlo Park but they didn't want to pay for them. Apparently the used book market is really flooded right now." Note that instead of working with the store's expertise, they guessed themselves which books would sell, took them in as walk-in customers with a couple boxes instead of as estate liquidators, and when the store didn't take anything that day - which is typical with my experience with casual walk-ins at collectors' stores - they gave up without trying anything else. They didn't contact any other booksellers; they didn't try listing anything online. They donated the lot. I was verbally promised care, detailed consideration, and expertise, and received none, and I have written assurance of the maximization of sales value, which was manifestly not adhered to.

Tl;dr: Nicoll is AMAZING and clearly knows what she's doing when it comes to professionally…read moreorganizing your home! Read on below if you want more details about the whole process. So...here's the thing about me. I love stuff. I love having a variety of stuff. I love having colorful pens, cute bags, books...you name it, and I probably started collecting some of it at some point. I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with wanting to have and own those things. But what I did notice was that the sheer amount of that stuff was really starting to stress me out. Things didn't have a place. My closet and dresser and drawers were stuffed to the brim. I found it difficult to enjoy these fun things I owned because they were mixed in with other things I didn't enjoy or use anymore. I found that I was hanging onto so many items for years "just in case," and the case would never arrive. I'd tried for years with things like the minimalist challenge and reading self help books to try and get rid of things, but I couldn't seem to make a dent. That's where Nicoll came in. My partner helped me find Nicoll on Yelp and connected the two of us together. We had an introductory phone call where she asked me some questions, and I shared my frustrations with getting rid of things and really needing help with it. We ended up making an appointment for a week later where she showed up with her toolkit and bag of bags for donations. We did a little walk around and I shared areas of stress for me and what I wanted out of the space, which was to know where everything was and to know what I owned. After the intro assessment we dove right in. In the next few hours we: ⁃ Took EVERYTHING out of my closet and purged SO much of it. We went piece by piece and she helped ask clarifying questions (when did I last wear it? Do I like it?) and could usually pick up on if I actually liked something. I noticed patterns of how I reacted when I loved something vs when I wasn't sure or was sort of convincing myself. This is an exercise I tried doing before on my own, but when there's someone standing there, who you paid to help you, who's not attached to your stuff....let me tell you, it changes the game. I found myself deciding to donate (and sometimes sell) what must have been at least a third of my closet (clothes, hats, bags, electronics, etc). ⁃ She busted out her label maker and helped organize and label shelves in categories that made sense. Now I know where everything is! ⁃ She packed up all the items I decided to donate into bags and packed them into her car. It ended up being about 15 bags of things which was absolutely wild to me. Nicoll taking these bags out of my house was a game changer, because there have been many times I've decided to donate items that just end up sitting there in bags for months! I noticed that night going to bed that my room felt emptier, in a really good way. It felt calmer, cleaner, and like I could breathe a bit easier. Some people might read this and think that they shouldn't have to hire someone to help them organize. I know for myself that I hit a wall when it came to organizing on my own, and I needed to ask for help. I'm so glad I did, because it changed my life and my relationship with "stuff." I'm confident that Nicoll will be able to help you if you need it, and I cannot recommend her enough!

Chris Larose is really the face of Closet Factory and truly, the best person to have representing this brand. He came by and spent a couple of hours mapping out our closets, the right trimming and color. I felt like he was super thorough and answered all of our questions. Chris came and met us mid Feb; quoted installation for March 11, which we were fine with but asked to be put on a list if there's a chance to install quicker. We were completely wow'd when we got the call that they moved up our installation date to Monday Feb 23rd!! Quoted for 2.5 days but it really took 1.5 days to install 3-4 closets. Our installers were Hugo and Juan - they were super nice and accommodating, put down these mats in our place so to protect the floors. They brought in all the materials and got straight to work. So efficient and so nice, we really lucked out. At the end of installation, we noticed a mismatch on shelving length so Hugo waiting for the new shelves to arrive and installed before he left on day 2. Overall, the process was super easy, quick, and accommodating. One of the best perks is that the materials came from Costco, so having a Costco CC came in handy with the % of money back at the end of the year. Thank you Closet Factory!!
