So...here's the thing about me. I love stuff. I love having a variety of stuff. I love having colorful pens, cute bags, books...you name it, and I probably started collecting some of it at some point. I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with wanting to have and own those things. But what I did notice was that the sheer amount of that stuff was really starting to stress me out. Things didn't have a place. My closet and dresser and drawers were stuffed to the brim. I found it difficult to enjoy these fun things I owned because they were mixed in with other things I didn't enjoy or use anymore. I found that I was hanging onto so many items for years "just in case," and the case would never arrive. I'd tried for years with things like the minimalist challenge and reading self help books to try and get rid of things, but I couldn't seem to make a dent. That's where Nicoll came in. My partner helped me find Nicoll on Yelp and connected the two of us together. We had an introductory phone call where she asked me some questions, and I shared my frustrations with getting rid of things and really needing help with it. We ended up making an appointment for a week later where she showed up with her toolkit and bag of bags for donations. We did a little walk around and I shared areas of stress for me and what I wanted out of the space, which was to know where everything was and to know what I owned. After the intro assessment we dove right in. In the next few hours we: ⁃ Took EVERYTHING out of my closet and purged SO much of it. We went piece by piece and she helped ask clarifying questions (when did I last wear it? Do I like it?) and could usually pick up on if I actually liked something. I noticed patterns of how I reacted when I loved something vs when I wasn't sure or was sort of convincing myself. This is an exercise I tried doing before on my own, but when there's someone standing there, who you paid to help you, who's not attached to your stuff....let me tell you, it changes the game. I found myself deciding to donate (and sometimes sell) what must have been at least a third of my closet (clothes, hats, bags, electronics, etc). ⁃ She busted out her label maker and helped organize and label shelves in categories that made sense. Now I know where everything is! ⁃ She packed up all the items I decided to donate into bags and packed them into her car. It ended up being about 15 bags of things which was absolutely wild to me. Nicoll taking these bags out of my house was a game changer, because there have been many times I've decided to donate items that just end up sitting there in bags for months! I noticed that night going to bed that my room felt emptier, in a really good way. It felt calmer, cleaner, and like I could breathe a bit easier. Some people might read this and think that they shouldn't have to hire someone to help them organize. I know for myself that I hit a wall when it came to organizing on my own, and I needed to ask for help. I'm so glad I did, because it changed my life and my relationship with "stuff." I worked with Andrea on three separate projects in my house - garage, old papers and a huge junk/misc cabinet. I strongly recommend her for this work. - She meets you where you are in terms of your stuff. - She can walk you through stuff with emotional baggage, get around the problematic logic of "someday/maybe items, and help you make decisions about stuff when you have decision fatigue. For example, I hit a wall about the 200 random pens we had. She told me to keep 10, and that the would still keep coming into my life. - She takes your cues. She's happy to chat during the job, or not. She will give you referrals for professionals for other services if you voice a need to take additional next steps (e.g. someone who specializes in photo management),but she doesn't try to push any additional services onto you. - She moves efficiently and fast. It's amazing how much you can accomplish with her. - She seems to have the ethos of better done than "perfect". She gets you to a very functional point and you can add the pretty matching sea grass baskets later. She also recognizes that there can be others in the house - we left a numbers of sorted bins for my husband to weed through later. I have used Andrea multiple times over the past five years. I cannot say enough about her ability to organize a home. She has a "Mari Kondo" approach to home organizing that she started using way before Kondo was a thing. She doesn't make you spend lots of money on home organizing systems and paraphernalia, rather she helps use current space and containers more effectively. She also makes sure the flow of how your home is organized is in synch with daily habits (amazing!), which makes maintenance super easy once she's gone. She also manages removal and donation of unwanted items. I have been trying to organize our current house on my own, but realize it is well-worth the money to call Andrea for her help. Ahh Andrea Andrea Andrea ... If you were to look at my other reviews I tend to clutter them with words just as I do myself with things. In the interest of paring down and keeping things organized I shall attempt that review here (rereading back - didn't happen) Honestly this is difficult. I have a nagging feeling as if I am reviewing my sister or really good friend. The truth of the matter is I adore Andrea beyond what could be described so I want to put my review in perspective aside of my personal feelings. To start. Professionally, top notch. You call, she returns call quickly. You email, she replies to email swiftly. You make an appointment, not only will she reconfirm ahead of time, then get this - she shows up ... on time. Andrea knows how to do her thing. I was renowned in my professional career for how organized I was however at home I'd let way too much pressure build up over the years. It seemed easier to stay organized at work. There's no emotional attachment and there's certainly the aspect of consequences if you don't open your emails and act on them. I'd let the mess in our house grow or remain unchanged for years. It was sucking my psyche dry. I carried a lot of physical and proverbial baggage about the condition of sections of the house. I carried a lot of shame and embarrassment about it. I had lot's of "should's", "can't get to right now", "I need more things so I can get organized". The excuses were endless. Paramount being why should I pay someone to do something that I should so easily be able to do myself. It occurred to me one day others wash the car, clean the house, do the taxes, paint the house etc., and this was the job that was really holding me back so F*** the money and just DO IT I said to myself. Which by the way is ending up costing so much less than I thought it would in the end. In her process she kindly, methodically, practically and patiently walked me through the steps of how she thought it best to go about it. At times I had thoughts of doing things other ways and she was totally open about it but using her as a sounding board and then listening to her view I could understand the reason for her method. I didn't experience her as the type and it would be hard for me to come in and take over - unless that's what you wanted. What I find particularly unique with Andrea is her gentleness and how she is able to hold the psychic space and keep it upbeat while at the same time seemingly able to move mountains without quite realizing what's happening. I wish I had done this years ago. The money I would have saved in angst alone would have paid itself ten times over. The ability to fine what I'm looking for in my own home - priceless. I guess I could have simply said she kicks ass and has transformed our place and it's amazing, which is quite an understatement. We'd narrowed our list to three others to call for organizers (none of whom we were really thrilled about) but my partner somehow came across Andrea - likely here on Yelp. My partner and I moved into a new house a few months ago with too much stuff we didn't want and stuff arriving every day, box after box after box. And I am 8+ months pregnant. One of the casualties of this scenario was our newly-shared, small but sufficient bedroom closet. With three shirts to a hanger, mismatched everything, balled-up t-shirts, an on-the-way-to-the-hamper pile on top of shoes... it was that symbolic closet of chaos. It elicited pure anxiety. We'd get in get out, recycling outfits so we wouldn't have to think about it. Then Andrea came over. Three boxes under her arms. We led her up to the closet, expected to be required to stay, make decisions, field questions about what/where... She saw the closet and said "Ok, you guys leave. I'm going to do my thing." Really... can we do that? It was such a great feeling, so care-taking. A couple hours later, she came down stairs with the same boxes (empty). Done. The change felt miraculous - as if the closet was twice as big. All the hangers matched - and there were enough of them. The clothes hanging were color-coded and included at least 20 shirts I forgot I had. There were new dividers so that every pile - t-shirt, hoodie, sweat pant - made sense and was perfectly folded. The effect: a totally different feeling standing in there - one of order and abundance! It may sound excessive to wax on about a perfectly organized closet - but the effect in our lives (right now especially) has been the biggest gift. I am a young professional sharing an apartment with two housemates. My bedroom had become increasingly overwhelmed with "stuff" so I called on Andrea to help. I immediately hit it off with Andrea after learning that she is a Bikram yoga instructor. If you know anything about bikram yoga, you know it takes tremendous discipline, focus and the ability to meditate above distractions - all excellent qualities in a personal organizer! It can feel strange inviting a complete stranger into your home to go through your stuff, but I immediately felt comfortable with Andrea and knew I had found the right person for the job. Andrea initially told me the job would take 3-4 hours and it ended up taking only 3 hours exactly. She is fast and efficient. If you can't decide what to keep and what to toss, she will help you decide. And if you want to hold onto something, she won't push you to get rid of it. The emphasis was on the closet. She took everything out first, had me decide what to keep, what to toss, and then put everything back in an orderly, organized manner that just makes sense. My closet is so much more functional now! There were some organizational supplies that cost me an extra $100 or so (hangers, plastic storage containers, shelf separators), but she did not charge for her time or mileage spent in going to the store to get them. Only the items themselves. She also found coupons for Bed Bath and Beyond and saved me some money, which I appreciated. She brings everything to you! How much easier can it get? She even gave me a mirror as a gift that looks just perfect on one of my walls! I'd highly recommend Andrea to anyone and would definitely use her again! read more

As a full-time working mom with 3 young children, you can probably imagine the state of my home before Andrea came to the rescue. In one amazing day, Andrea transformed all 3 of my children's' rooms. For years, I have been a big fan of Andrea's and her approach to supporting me in my quest to stay on top of the constant stuff accumulation in my family's home in SF. To echo another review, if you are wondering whether or not to work with Andrea, I can not recommend her enough!! My husband and I worked with Andrea and Nicole to organize our closets, kitchens and garage and from start to finish the process was efficient and yielded amazing results. First, Andrea coached us on what type of items we should get to assist with the organizing (shelving, clear boxes, etc) so when she showed up with Nicole we were ready to roll. We then proceeded on a 5 hour cleaning and organization session that left my husband and I feeling lighter, less stressed and more in control of our lives. The highlights for me are probably the ease with which I can get dressed in the morning and how easy it is to find where we have stashed the gear associated w a SF lifestyle in our garage. This review is incredibly long over due, but I had someone recently ask for someone to help them organized and i of course shares Andreas name. Andrea and Nicole were absolutely wonderful! Andrea came by to take a look at the place and then made a recommendation for items to purchase in advance of our appointment to make it most productive. She and Nicole came in and got right to work. They helped me to let go of the things I absolutely did not need any longer but for some reason thought I needed. They somehow managed to fit the numerous wedding gifts that were stacked high in a corner and their organization was incredibly functional. I did not need them to come back because they made sure all aspects were live able (kitchen organization, clothing closet, the longest hall closet I couldn't walk in prior). If you're anything like me, you're reading this review because your living/work space feels completely unmanageable and you just want someone to help you figure the mess out. If that's the case, Andrea is your woman. As competent as she is genuine, I couldn't have been more thrilled with the job that Andrea, and her assistant Nicole, did from start to finish. The absolute bottom line is that she is a miracle worker, a gem of a human being, and "hired" for the next job! I write this review while looking at a view of Mt. Tam from my Sausalito houseboat, a view that was once completely obstructed by my anxiety over my move from Strawberry to Sausalito. I moved from renting a bedroom with a chef's kitchen to a whole houseboat with a kitchen that was significantly smaller. The result was way too much stuff on one hand, and not enough stuff on the other. My OCD and anxiety over the situation had left me feeling rather helpless. Andrea responded to my introductory email with a phone call less than 24 hours later, came out to assess the situation a day after that, and hit the ground running with her assistant, Nicole, a day after that. Not only did the two of them navigate the reorganization of the houseboat, they were also able to effectively deal with my parents who were in town attempting to "help" the situation. Both my parents have their own organizational issues, so this was no easy task. Weeks later my home remains organized and clean and I have four emails in my inbox regarding the best drawer organizers for my kitchen, the best compost container, and referrals on housepainters/interior designers/and portable dishwashers. Andrea is a reliable resource from start to finish, and I know I can contact her with any further questions I might have. I'm sad to be the first one on here to not give a five-star review. It seems we had a very different experience than some of the others on here. Andrea was courteous and professional and helped us organize our house. She and her assistant were hardworking and diligent. For this, I have to give them 3 stars. However, I did not feel that the end result warranted the amount of money we spent. At $135/hour, I expected much, much more. I expected a macro plan, organization coaching, general guidelines. All of these things were things we talked about in the initial consult. What we got was a lot of micro-organizing without understanding how we used our home and the things in it. Also, I don't think that Andrea understands how families with young kids live. She doesn't have kids herself, though she told us she knows a lot about living with kids because of her experience with nieces and nephews. A lot of her ideas around organization in our house were not realistic given that we have young kids. At the end of the day, I felt that I could accomplish was Andrea and Nicole did using my housekeeper or someone from task rabbit or craigslist for $30-50/hour. I didn't feel like we got a huge value add or saw any particular organizational expertise. I will also mention that I thought her assistant Nicole was awesome -- very cheery, had a great attitude and much easier to work with than Andrea. On balance, I give three stars because they showed up, they worked hard and they definitely left our house better than it was before. read more

I found Andrea on Yelp after feeling overwhelmed about needing to organize my home. Nothing had a specific place that was easy, clear and accessible - and so things just ended up everywhere in various piles around the apartment. Andrea was so quick to respond - she actually came by for an initial consultation the next day! After our consultation and walk through, Andrea sent me a list of items that might be helpful to purchase for our big organization day. Andrea and Nicole came over from 10am-3pm and basically took everything out of every cabinet in the kitchen and then reorganized it in a way that made sense for cooking and putting away dishes. Actually since that time, I've been really diligent about putting everything away in its proper place. They also organized our bedroom closet, drawers and storage closet with big clear bins and drawer dividers - and put things together that made sense. Everything is easy to find and easy to put away. We also donated and purged a TON of stuff (which felt so great!) and Andrea scheduled a service to come pick everything up - free of charge to us. Andrea saved my life!! My husband contacted Andrea through yelp. She made an appointment right away and immediately I knew I wanted her to help us! She had such a sense of calm that made me feel so comfortable. Our house was out of control with 4 kids under 7. (3 being 3 year old triplets!!) They had basically taken over every room in our house! We shipped the kids off with their aunt so we could tackle the loads of clutter in our garage, playroom, closets etc. We then took a small u-haul to the dumps full of stuff we simply did not need. It felt wonderful. On that same day she swiftly went through and organized closets and shelves while we were dumping our junk! It amazed me what we were able to accomplish in a day! She came back a few days later (it might have been weeks with our crazy schedule) and put the finishing touches. She gave me some schedules to live by which was absolutely golden for this stay at home mom. There are days I sort of twiddle my thumbs looking for something to do!! I never thought that could be possible! I'm getting out more with the kids and I just don't feel tied down to the house trying to keep it presentable. Now I don't freak when someone pops by! We did all this back in October/November. One of the things my husband and I were concerned about was falling back into this clutter trap. Andrea assured us it would not happen! I don't know why I didn't trust her!! :) I wanted to wait a few months so I could truly say this was honest to God the best thing we have ever done! And I can!! The kids still remember Andrea - they loved her too!!! And we talk about how she helped us get organized. Although some days they do put up a fuss, but they are much better about picking up after themselves. And mommy is better about keeping control of my house!! The best part of this whole experience was my son's report card. There was a notation for organizational skills and the quarter before we had Andrea come the teacher said this was an area to which he needed improvement. The following quarter, the notation stated that organizational skills was an area of strength! I attest this to having Andrea in our lives! The quality of our family life has improved 10-fold. I found myself falling deep into depression. So much changed for me after Andrea left that I sat down and made some resolutions for the new year and I have for once been able to knock things off my list because I am organized. This seemed indulgent but honestly, it was the best money we have ever spent. No regrets here. I downsized from a 4 bedroom house 4 years ago, I dumped most things into the garage and haven't moved a thing since. Andrea and her assistant went through my garage today so quickly it was amazing. I just stood there and made decisions about what would stay. It was heaven. I have a lot of space in my garage so I didn't want to pay an organizer for perfection, I just wanted to get things sorted and on shelves where I could see things. Andrea is extremely experienced and efficient with a wide range of organizing scenarios, from garages, storage spaces, and in our case an apartment made messy by me, mostly. She does not pressure you to part with things that you care about or may want to hold onto, but she offers a way to pare things down over time. In a few hours on two visits she was able to help my partner and I get rid of a bunch of stuff (which she just takes away in bags) and made good suggestions for the use of our space. I can't say enough wonderful things about Andrea and Nicoll. I moved here 1.5 years ago from east coast, and always had a 2 bedroom apt with loads of space....now i'm in 600 sq feet in a super old building with 2.3 electrical outlets :) . Soo.... Andrea came over for initial consult (free of charge) and we discussed my organizing issues, she recommended some items to get (IKEA bookcases, kitchen island) and what I needed to prep before she came for the big appointment. She also - miracle of miracles - found an online vendor who sells make-your-own window screen kits, as I have old casement windows and a cat that is a major flight risk. The ones you can buy at hardware store don't work on casement windows and I just had no CLUE what to do!!! Screens are fabulous, such a great idea - one I'd been wrestling with to no avail. Anyway....so she comes over and I go to the office. I come home so they can show me where they have put everything...it was amazing! I had an 6' by 10' (ish) closet packed to the TOP with boxes of books and crap I haven't seen in decades. I mean, it was a real mess, couldn't get into the closet, just a disaster! All was removed, 3 huge bookcases moved in, books neatly lined up on shelves, all other misc items were sorted into bins. Truly amazing...she made it very easy for me to see what items I still need to cull ( a goodly amount), and its just wonderful to be able to USE this space I pay so much for. Also, the cat is very pleased and is busily exploring :) The main clothes closet was another miracle. Who knew there was a floor? Clothes all hung on new slim velvet hangers (that she brought with her), shelves neatly organized linens and such. Same was done in the coat closet, which now serves as a storage for extra paper goods, gardening stuff, purses, tools, cleaning supplies, etc.... This is what I was really after, utilizing the space I have in the best way. I had not been able to figure out how to do it. And its really hard when there's nowhere to PUT stuff to empty out a space...no staging area. I have no idea how they did all this. The kitchen was fabulous also, pantry items neatly arranged, shelving unit from hell moved to nook and tidied up - very nice and pretty (and not cluttered!) now! And they put the microwave on top of fridge!!! I never would have thought of it, and with zero counter space it really makes a huge difference! They have a great eye for making things like canning jars and misc glassware look pretty - even on top of the cabinets. It really is super nice and now I can cook calmly and not go nuts due to clutter! I should also mention that all donate/trash items were removed , including all the boxes...this is a huge deal as I live downtown and things are tough to deal with. I reached out to Andrea a few weeks ago to schedule an consultation for closet organizing. I was immediately struck by how easy going and warm she was. She agreed that my space could use some TLC. I have a single walk in closet in a studio apartment that I share with my 19 year old nephew. Needless to say our space was a bit chaotic, "a head injury waiting to happen". She took a look at my kitchen and felt that she could also work her magic there. Andrea arrived this morning with her amazing assistant Nicoll. They spent 2.5 hours here and I cannot believe the changes they made. My closet is not only more organized and danger free but it is also much more spacious to make it a more comfortable changing area. The kitchen cabinets are clutter free and organized with everything in plain view. They rearranged things in ways that I would have never thought of. Once they were finished I immediately felt more relaxed in my home and so much happier without all of that clutter. I am truly grateful for these two women. I have a whole new perspective on what can be accomplished in three hours. Andrea helped us to pare down our accumulated "stuff" to get ready for our baby in a one-bedroom apartment. She works fast and keeps everybody moving (instead of getting lost in that old box of cassette mixtapes). And she takes the unwanted whatnot and drops it off at recycle/re-use places, which is really the key... she knows those Goodwill bags and boxes will get reabsorbed if she doesn't take them away... She completely understood that my boyfriend and I have different definitions of "organized" and worked with (and respected) our separate and combined needs. We've had her back to help with some problematic corners (dumping grounds) in the house and she's just really talented at seeing what could be working better. While we worried about spending the money, in the end we wished we'd done this years ago. Easily as relaxing as a few massages, and as beneficial to the relationship as a weekend getaway.
