Just became a patient here a few months ago. I just had my second appointment and still shocked on how fast you are in and out! They see you right when your appointment is. No wait time for the doctor after the nurse completes their duties with you. The whole staff here is extremely friends and professional. Their online health charts are great too and able to access your blood work and test results all from the app. So happy my friend recommended them to me! I am a new patient for Dr Slotten and I am very pleased with my first impression. I had my first appointment and everything went as planned. The office staff was polite and efficient. The appointment started on time. The nurse helped me fill in the paperwork and answered my questions. The Doctor was prompt and thorough. He talked to me about my health history and did a thorough exam. I was impressed with his knowledge about my issues and the most recent developments in treatment and medications. Overall, I was pleased with his capabilities as well as his "bedside manner". He seemed to be genuinely interested in my health. One interesting note: the building looked a little old and outdated. Nothing serious, just a little worn around the edges. It turns out that this practice has been in operation there for almost 40 years! Most of the staff had been working at the office for decades. My nurse was "the new girl" since she only had 10 years with the doctor. Any employer who can keep staff happy for that long must be doing something right! I look forward to my next visit. If I could sue this guy I would. ZERO stars. He is a vaccination pusher in the drug companies' pocket. He is a nice MD -who DOESN'T KNOW serious stuff. He gave me 2 vaccinations that I was suckered into taking - despite the fact that I have a serious immune problem, which should NOT be given vaxes ! I thought I was going to die due to the side effects. When I confronted him - he said he didn't know anything about immune problems - YET he gave me 2 vaccinations? Including Tetanus? ( which - by the way your insurance won't cover ). If I had not had Lyme disease, I could have sued him according to 5 lawyers. ( they could say - Oh - those symptoms were due to her Lyme ). He is listed as taking a lot of money from vax meds drug companie. ( Find this online) So he is nice - and he poisoned me? I originally got his name from Yelp, I actually went to him because he was nice... stupid! Moral: don't got to docs becuz they are 'nice', but because they actually help you. After going through some pretty bad doctors in other major cities, when I moved to Chicago, I wanted the cream of the crop. I found him right here. I really like Dr. Slotten. He generally takes his time to answer the many questions I throw at him and give me his medical opinions on whatever woes I bring to his office. He's a relatively younger guy who has an open mind about alternative medical treatments and seems to do his research on up and coming topics. I see him at his practice with Dr. Klein and Dr. French, although he is the only doctor I've seen. Dr. Slotten's follow up skills are second to none. He personally calls with results within 1-2 days at most. I've been really impressed to actually get a call from my doctor so quickly. Now, his receptionist staff could be a little faster and a bit more friendly, but I'm not judging them, I'm judging Dr. Slotten. Most of all, Dr. Slotten seems to generally care about my well-being. If you chose him as your doctor, I firmly believe you will be pleased with the experience. read more

While I agree with the other reviewer that the office staff was sometimes difficult, this has improved to what I would consider a normal back office. I have been a patient with the doctor for about 7 years for general aches and pains and some checkups. Dr Slotten has one of the best bedside manners I have experienced. His medical knowledge is excellent and I feel he always is genuinely interested in your medical situation. Some doctors make me feel like you are just a number. Not here. I have been a patient of Dr Slottens for years. However, like other reviews below, I'm going to start looking for another physician due to the office staff. Every time I call to ask a question, I end up on hold for 5-10 minutes. Sometimes they don't even pick back up and I have to call in a second time, where you guessed it. I go on hold again. Currently, I'm on my third phone conversation about getting a prescription faxed to correct number. The nurses, blood drawing person and Dr Slotten are good people. You'll just have to put up with a horrible office staff. read more

In 1991 I first became a patient of Dr. Slotten and although I do not live in Chicago anymore I wanted to write a review. First let me say that he and his staff always treated me with the highest level of respect and professionalism. The day I told them goodbye, in 2009, the office manager and I had a good cry. It was like leaving my life behind as they had all been so much a part of it for so many years. All I can say is that anyone who seeks care from he, his associates and his staff are very fortunate in do so. I've been seeing Dr. Slotten for over 25 years. He's very knowledgeable and fair. He's professional, sweet and caring. The office staff know me and are always smiling. My insurances have changed over the years and I've had very few hiccups with coverage. Ross is also very smart, and I like that! He's the only doctor I've ever had who hugs me. Despite the fact that I have moved 30 miles away from his office over 12 years ago, I continue to see him because I trust him so much. BEWARE!!! Like some of the other reviewers here, I agree Dr. Slotten is a decent doctor, but the office staff he has working for him are a NIGHTMARE. I've seen Slotten for out-of-pocket checkups for years. Now I am employed with Blue Cross HMO insurance, and Slotten is my HMO network- he's added as my doctor on my card. I made an appointment for a physical exam, was asked when I made the appointment whether I was an existing patient (I am). I took off work and showed up for my appointment, and the "receptionist" and "office manager" told me they did not take my HMO. This is a lie. The "receptionist" said they would be happy to take me if I paid out of pocket. They told me the number on the card is for a different network. This is a lie. They kept saying they would not take my insurance. This is absurd. I left. I called BC/BS and they told me I had done everything right; BC/BS called the office and talked to "receptionist" and "office manager" and was told that Slotten did not take any NEW HMO patients. Apparently I am a NEW INSURED patient even though I've seen him for years. Why they could not give me a straight answer to my face is unclear to me. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Slotten's many years ago when I lived in Chicago and think he was one of the best doctors I have had. When my 80 year old mother was getting very poor care from her doctor (she has diabetes), I was able to convince her to switch to Dr. Slotten. He has been amazing with her. He treats her like his own family and balances out all the factors in diabetes and keeps her motivated with proper diet and exercise. She actually loves going to the doctor now. read more

Nov. 2012 I relocated from Chicago to Los Angeles. Dr. Slotten was my physician for almost twelve years, and losing him on this move is a big frustration. He is knowledgeable, attentive, thorough and extremely kind. He treated me for everything from eye infection to pneumonia and, more importantly, kept me healthy so that I did not have to see him too often. My age, by the way, is 68. Should have mentioned that. While I like Dr. Slotten and have been seeing him for several years, I've finally reached the point where I've begun looking for another physician. This is not based on his professionalism or lack thereof, but rather the RUDE, ILL-MANNERED staff working in his office. Whenever you call there, you are treated as if you are bothering them and taking away from their valuable time. They are not so bad once you are in the office, but even then you are not made to feel welcome. I typically only need to see the doctor twice a year, but the attitude I've received from his receptionist is nothing less than unprofessional and basically mean-spirited. This is the first impression a doctor's office has to make with people. It's a shame that they all seem to have this "You're really bothering me" attitude. And while I know that I'm going there to see the doctor, and perhaps this is just me being picky, I find the atmosphere of the office depressing--it looks like no cares about how well it is maintained, from needing a new paint job in the offices to just 'modernizing' the look to at least make it feel more up-to-date. The tiny examine rooms induce a sense of claustrophobia at best. My overall sense from seeing both Klein and Slotten is that they are biding their time until retirement, but I could be wrong. Regardless, my partner and I are moving on. read more
