I worked for a pediatric dental practice for years and saw 1 or 2-surface cavities result in 4-surface fillings. Some would "do the wiggle dance" and pull teeth unnecessarily to pad their wallets. After needing to find an adult dentist for myself, I visited a local dentist in Granite Bay. They said I needed $600+ of treatment (and performed an unnecessary pano xray). I went for a second opinion to Dr Barakat who confirmed my thought...I was completely cavity free. I begged my husband to go to Barakat for a second opinion (after he was told he needed 2 fillings by a new dentist after his insurance changed). Guess what...no cavities! If you hate needles and loathe dishonest dentists, Dr Barakat is your man!!!!

I'm constantly feeling compelled to leave a review of Rocklin Smiles because of the high level of…read moreservice I receive every time. I've said in a previous review that it's the little things that matter to me in any service business and Rocklin Smiles seems to pride themselves on those little things. My recent visit was once again seamless and easy. This time I want to highlight the receptionist's awareness. I'm not sure of her name but she seems to take pride in knowing my name which I'm sure is common practice for her and all the patient's. I was greeted by name as soon as I walked in. Now, I know they're expecting their patients at certain times but being kindly greeted by name is not something I've experienced at other dentists. After waiting about 5 minutes while scrolling through my phone the receptionist updated me that I'd be seen soon. The awareness to keep me informed before I even had the chance to even realize I had been waiting longer than normal is the "little things" I mentioned earlier. I know most people can think of countless times waiting in a lobby after being checked in and left to wonder "how much longer am I gonna be waitin?" Something simple as recognizing you have someone waiting and simply updating them seems trivial but I know from experience it takes some caring to be aware of that. And that caring attitude is not too common these days. The dental assistant that I've been assigned my last two visits is also just as hospitable and aware. The kindness and clear communication during intervention is comforting. 20/10 highly recommend.

I can confidently say that Dr Sugimoto, Josie, Elizabeth, and all the other staff here have been wonderful - wish I got everyone's name to give them credit! I've never had a dentist who was so organized and detailed. Dr Sugimoto got me through the fillings and the crowns with zero pain. She gave me a referral for a root canal to a great endodontist and everything went smoothly (as smooth as it can be for a root canal). Josie had the wonderful job of cleaning my teeth after several years of not going to a dentist. She was incredibly thorough yet gentle with my teeth. I was thinking she was going to be scraping hard and what not, but no. She took her time and did an excellent job. Elizabeth and the other assistants are also wonderful, competent, and patient. On a Thursday evening, while flossing, my front crown unexpectedly popped right out--no pain, no warning, but definitely a big hit to my self-esteem. I messaged Dr. Robison that night, and he immediately assured me he'd take care of it. By the next morning, I had an appointment. Easy peasy--they took x-rays, inspected the crown, and had it perfectly set back in. It's humbling to realize how much our smile means to us. Thanks to Dr. Robison and Robin, I can now attend my 20-year deployment reunion tomorrow with confidence, ready to share memories and smiles with friends. A little background: I first met Dr. Robison in my military unit last year, where he provides exceptional dental care to Soldiers and is highly respected as an officer. I actually had an appointment scheduled with him in a couple of weeks because I wanted him to be my dentist and discuss whitening and possibly replacing my 16-year-old crown--or even exploring veneers. There were so many different ways to go about this and none of those ways were established. Waiting two months was ridiculous but seemed worth it, being pushed out was disappointing, and being cancelled on altogether is infuriating. If they were honest from the beginning saying he may or may not be able to see you because he may or may not be retiring would have been much better than blind siding patients. I find it hard to believe he decided to close down just on a whim. The second star is only given because previous appointments were great.
