this place is horrible came in to use the bathroom has no door on it and everybody can just watch you shit so I the trashcan in front of me so they couldn't see me when they walked in the door and when I come back out they proceeded to tell me I needed to leave because I was doing something in the bathroom I wasn't supposed to be doing lol then they had some weird ass drunk guy come in the bathroom and he literally stood in front of the door I was half tempted to punch him in his face because I didn't know what was going onand when I called and asked them why they kicked me out they said because I didn't buy anything sorry I'm not an alcoholic so if looking to go to a nice hangout bar this is not the one absolute the worst experience I've ever had at a bar in my life read more

How have I not written a review of Rosies? I likely hadn't written this review because I HAD written a review of Bar 32 next door, they are both LGBTQ-focused bars, and both look almost the same inside and out. If you like Bar 32 next door, you'll probably also like Rosie's. Currently, I've seen them place some tables outside too for those that want a drink but are playing it safe with the social distancing game. My only complaint about either bar is that they allow smoking. I enjoy coming sometimes, it's just that you have to make that active choice that you are resigning to smelling like an ashtray for the whole evening. The staff is always super nice, the drinks are cheap, and there's a real sense of community among the patrons. It always feels welcoming. If you're in the neighborhood, are okay with smelling like smoke, and want some good vibes, I'd recommend stopping by. read more

Loved it! Stopped in at long last after years of hearing about it. The bourbon selection is amazing, the space is charming and intimate. You can smoke inside - not something one is used to in Cincinnati anymore (which is not a bad thing, but makes it novel when suddenly you can). Hi Rosie! I've only been to Rosie's a couple of times but had a great time. The bar staff was friendly and attentive, the drinks were reasonably priced, and smoking was a big plus for me since smoking is taboo in Cincinnati establishments. That Rosie's is also truly LGBTQ+ friendly made my experience even better even though I was in semi-boy mode at the time. Planning on visiting again in the very near future and will bring a friend, but this time I'm going out (for the first time ever) all-out girl. Smoking always ruins everything, but if you can stand it - they have pool and a touchtones jukebox. The vibe here is more hipster/trendy than any other dive in Covington. Other positives? I definitely liked this bar. A $3 well drink seemed appropriate to me. Popped in on a Thursday after ten, it was definitely not crowded. The bartender was quick, attentive, and pleasant. Bathrooms were not too bad for a bar, though the push door on the trash can almost always results in a paper pile up on the floor. Went in on a Saturday afternoon. It's a good neighborhood bar. It's a pretty cool venue. They have a bunch of things on the wall of various things. They also have a pool table and a few gambling machines. The music is decent. The service was good. The guy was really nice and generous with the drinks. The drinks are really cheap. We got two gin and tonics for $6. They had a $1 draft beers on Sam Adams Nitro when I went in. The only thing I didn't like was the place smelled. You walk in and it immediately smells like cigarettes. People do smoke in there. It just felt like there was no effort to air out the smoke or anything. read more

THE ONLY REASON I AM GIVING THIS REVIEW 2 STARS IS BECAUSE THE DRINKS ARE DIRT CHEAP THEY HAVE GOOD JELLO SHOTS & YOU CAN SMOKE IN THE BAR, other than that I would say this is probably the worst experience I've ever had in a bar. Rosie's is one of Main Strasse Village's most prized (and slightly hidden) gems. Rosie's is indeed a "gay bar," but with a much more relaxed feel than the typical techno music blaring, disco ball hanging dance club you might think of. Rosie's is a great place to come and chill with friendly people and unwind after a long day at work. They often have pretty good pitcher specials as well as a stocked bar. All of the bartenders are extremely personable and if you come in with some regularity they will indeed "know your name." There are no DJs remixing Lady GaGa. Though if you so choose there is a jukebox with plenty of GaGa for all! All the music played comes from the patrons using the jukebox. Rosie's front room has plenty of tables to sit at as well as a pool table. There's a small second room with a cigarette machine and a few more tables and in the very back you will find the restrooms (complete with chalk boards to write your inner most thoughts and feelings). I've honestly never had a bad time at Rosie's. It's small enough that you really get to know all the patrons and can hear yourself think. It usually starts out a little dead, but come around 10:30ish and you'll almost always find a decent sized crowd. Rosie's has a 'Cheers' feel with friendly bartenders and patrons and good music (because you get to choose it). Bottom-line: if you feel like a chill night of drinking pitchers with friends and making new ones Rosie's is a fantastic spot that will not disappoint! read more

Ahhhh Rosie's ..haha. I have spent many a drunken evening at Rosie's with "my gay". As hi hag I was obligated to go but this bar fed right into my love for a dark, small, lively Dive. Now it is true, the drink prices could stand some improving however, HOWEVER, when you are a regular you will find yourself asking for some coke with that Jack. The jukebox actually has Andriod Lust in the playlist which makes me smile. It also has "Hole in the earth" by Deftones which makes me absolutely giddy. I was there on a Sunday night one year for my birthday parading around the bar in my mukluks and tiarra (dont look at me in that tone). And was happily abliged with jagger from other happy patrons that wanted to ensure I had a good time. $2 wells that are strong and free pool every Monday night. You can't beat that, if you're down to go out on a Monday ;) My friend introduced me to Rosie's a while back and I have become a regular. My only complaint is the cloud of smoke from cigarettes that greets you when you walk in the door. But that's also a perk if you're a smoker in NKY. I always leave with watery eyes and smokey clothes I have to wash right away (I don't smoke). Everyone is always nice and it's easy to strike up conversation with them. Hit or miss with how many people are there. Write your name on the chalkboard to play next in pool. Use your phone or put money in the TouchTunes jukebox to play your favorite jams. My husband and I were in Cincinnati for a couple days while our truck was in the shop. We decided to try Rosie's because of the reviews. So glad we did! We got there shortly after opening and were welcomed warmly by Howard! It's a great bar with an awesome vibe! Drinks are poured well at great prices and the clientele are friendly. We travel all lower 48 states and try to visit the local gay/gay friendly bars when we have some down time. This is definitely on our favorites list! I've been to Rosie's twice now - first at the end of a night of bar-hopping in Mainstrasse. Second after a nearby yelp event. Both times I've appreciated the cheap strong drinks and the laid-back atmosphere. The second time I went the bartender asked if I wanted well tequila after ordering a tequila sunrise and I appreciated the question because I often forget to order something other than well and usually regret it. My big complaint is that Rosie's is extremely smokey! Being an Ohioan I've become accustomed to the ability to breathe in bars and the smoke here made my eyes water, and therefore I couldn't handle being in the bar for more than 30-45 minutes. Otherwise this would definitely be a 4-star bar! read more

I believe Rosie's was originally opened by the current owners of the Crazy Fox but I have no real proof, just a barely remembered, drunken conversation at the Fox. This great little bar is tucked away on a side street in the Main Strasse entertainment district in Covington, KY. Primarily known as a slightly older, lesbian scene, recent visits have proven it to be occupied by a more gay male/trans crowd which is kind of unfortunate if you're hoping to get an estrogen boost but it's still a chill little place to kick it with friends on a weekend. I wouldn't lie, the drink prices could be better but the bar is stocked and they have several pool tables. If you can find the chalk, leave a little note for your crush on the chalk board in the bathroom. read more

Rose's is an amazing little neighborhood bar in Kentucky that I fell in love with. The staff is always great. The patrons are a mixed bag of straight and gay folks just out to have a good time. Good bar. It caters towards the gay/lesbian community, yet you could confuse it with any regular bar out there, as it doesn't seem quite stereotypical. It's right next to 701, more obviously a gay male clientele, but as 701 closes at 1am, Rosie's closes at 2:30 am, so much of the 701 crowd flows over to Rosie's thereafter. Not too bad, relaxed, but It'd have at least 1 more star if it were in Ohio (no smoking) or had a working Smokeeter. The smoke in Rosie's REALLY stung my eyes! Pretty good spot for those nights when you are down for whatever and want to just go with the flow and possibly get really crazy. Rosie's tends to be predominantly a lesbian/gay bar but is very welcoming to all people. Every time I've been there has been fun and apart from the heavy cigarette smoke, I don't have any real complaints, maybe another pool table? Ha! Drinks are strong and well priced. Parking can be a little difficult in this mostly residential area. There is a parking lot across the way, but if I were you, I'd Uber or Lyft here as you and your group may get really drunk and no one should drive while intoxicated. ;) read more

This was my first visit to Rosie's Tavern. Overall, I liked it. It was a Saturday night and they had a live band playing and they were actually pretty good. As someone who has been used to going out in Ohio, I forgot about smoking being allowed in Kentucky. Kinda missed the Ohio bars, only for this reason. As I'm sure you can tell, I'm not a smoker. Went here the other night with one of my good guy friends. There was a line of people waiting to get drinks. Had two other couples come in after us that "knew the bartender" and automatically got served before us. Got up to the bar to order a drink and was asked for my ID (something that never happens here except I guess with this bartender I've never had before) was automatically denied a drink because my friend that was with me was 19. Never have I had that happen anywhere I've been. The bartender also made a scene about it and loudly told us "goodbye" in a very immature way while everyone stared at us. I've always had a good time at Rosie's and have always told people that it's one of the best gay friendly bars in the Cincinnati Metro. They do have great drinks, music, pool, and great people to converse with! (Some of the older guys that come in there daily can be pretty creepy though.) But sadly with what happened last night I most likely won't be back. I've heard a lot of feedback from other people saying that a few of their bartenders can be pretty rude and I sure got a bad taste in my mouth after last night.. read more
