Ranch 99 is starting to become my go-to market, although it is a little further than some others…read more They always have fresh vegetables and produce. I especially like that they will fry or cook the fresh fish on the spot while you wait, for no additional charge. I particularly love a good freshly fried fish and will buy some bottled sauces to top it off. The aisles are nice and wide and make it easier to pass others. This store is still fairly clean and the food court is excellent, they even have some dim sum dishes for lunch among roasted meats. The parking lot is huge and always very convenient, it is worth the extra miles in my opinion to drive further for this Asian market!

The food court has several different stores; I went to the one near the dining tables that has entrees and combo plates. I went on the recommendation of my mechanic who is from Taiwan. The cashier told me up front what the menu items were that they did not have. I ordered the noodle soup with egg noodles and roast pork. It was a decent size portion with lots of roast pork, bok choy and thin egg noodles in what tasted like chicken broth. The dining area is communal tables where you share space with other diners like many Asian restaurants. It is a space for a good, cheap, quick meal not a place where you would linger. I will go back for a combo meal; I didn't see them until I had already ordered. The meals started at $7.99.

Great dinner spot for American comfort food, tucked away in Park Potomac!…read more My family and I decided to try this restaurant on a whim, and it didn't disappoint! We were seated promptly, even without reservations, and our server gave us excellent recommendations within minutes of being seated. We tried the grapefruit and hibiscus homemade sodas, which were so refreshing and very unique. For starters, we ordered the cornbread, and fig and olive bread. Both were delicious and served nice and warm. Our entrees included the poke bowl and chicken and waffles, which is pictured below. The chicken and waffles were a standout, and I highly recommend to try this! We were overall very pleased with our service and food, and plan to be back!

This review was a difficult one to write. I had lived in the DC (Bethesda-Potomac) area for over 30…read moreyears, moving there in 1977. I couldn't recall exactly when Founding Farmers opened in Potomac, online it reflects opening in 2011. I may have gone there around the time it opened, but couldn't recall - my partner had never been. The reason it was a difficult review, were the fact part of our order was very good, while the main dishes were not. The beginning of our meal was epic - when we told the server, who was very informative and gracious, it was my partner's first visit, he mentioned we would get a complimentary dish of beignets. The dish came.....and our 'jaws dropped'! There before us was a large plate of amazing looking beignets (see attached picture)! My partner, who'd been to New Orleans several times, is a beignet aficionado, and I could see how excited she was. Well, we were not disappointed when we both tasted one - they were excellent! My partner said the 3 rules of good beignets - golden crisp exterior - not greasy from the fry - plenty of powdered sugar! The dough was pillowy and airy and incredibly light, like a puff pastry! They had just been fried and were warm and soft. What a surprise! It was almost like we could have just had these for our breakfast! We decided to order eggs, versus pancakes or waffles, since we already had a plate of beignets. My partner ordered Scrambled Eggs with Pastrami. I was looking earnestly at the menu for 'Omelettes', but they were no where to be found - only 'Scrambled'. I asked the waiter if they had omelettes, he said they didn't. I was stunned - no omelettes....why not?? I looked online and found a statement - Founding Farmers locations are massive, high volume operations (it's a chain).....making omelettes requires dedicated pan space, continuous monitoring and precise timing....Founding Farmers opted for prepared egg dishes that can be served quickly to keep crowds moving..... Well, it's a business decision, and for me, a very disappointing one. Why? I ordered the Veggie Scrambled and my partner ordered Scrambled Eggs with Pastrami. The eggs I got were 'a mess'. As were my partner's - see attached picture of the 'Scrambled eggs with Pastrami' - it was embarrassing! My Veggie Scrambled Eggs looked a lot better, but the texture was so strange as the egg and cheese became like little balls with all the mixed vegetables - it was unpleasant to even chew. When I took a closer look at the veggies, I saw little square carrots - like frozen peas and carrots. Seriously, carrots with scrambled eggs. I left most of my eggs - it was a huge mess. I would like to say that I'm somewhat of an egg connoisseur - I worked at a restaurant for several years making breakfasts and lunches - I only cook my eggs in butter and I like them light and fluffy. I make excellent omelettes! The eggs came with Cheesy Grits - well, my partner is from Georgia - I'd say she knows grits. When I tasted them I had to have her taste as well. Same conclusion for both of us - grainy and uneven texture with clumps - no taste - no 'cheesy'. My partner actually said the 'instant grits' she had at home are better! There was also a Biscuit I ordered with my eggs, which was fantastic!! My partner agreed and we shared and devoured that yummy side! I would like to mention my partner also ordered the Brûlée Grapefruit - which is a half grapefruit that has sugar sprinkled on top, then is put in a broiler until the sugar is a caramelized glaze. She said it was good. Well, you can see why this review was a difficult one. Would we return to Founding Farmers - yes. Would we order eggs - absolutely not. Next time, I would try the Pancakes and/or French Toast - as we had delicious beignets and biscuits!

We went around 12pm on a Tuesday so it wasn't really crowded. They were showing the world cup so that was really enjoyable to watch with my coworkers. The food was great. We all ordered different entrees such as BBQ ribs, lamb chops, margarita pizza, quesadillas, and burgers. I ordered the margarita pizza. It was decent. Nothing to write home about but it was enjoyable. We also ordered the sampler which consists of wings, buffalo shrimp, quesadillas, and eggrolls. The sampler was really delicious. All of the food came out at a good temperature and was flavorful. Considering the restaurant was pretty much empty it took a long time for us to receive our food from the kitchen. There were 6 of us but no one else in the restaurant. Other than that the service was pretty good. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. If you are in the area I recommend you check them out. Cheers!

We were seated in a large comfortable booth located along the far wall of the restaurant after we declined seating in the bar area which is cramped and always loud. Great spot though for sports fans because this is where the huge TVs and loud music are hooked up and if you are not into making a conversation with your date or company. Service was polite, attentive and friendly - thanks, Fidel! And what made dinner good were the crispy mozzarella cheese sticks, juicy jalapeño burger, and yes, they had the 3 course well prepared and thick prime rib dinner. We had come here twice before and were disappointed because they ran out of their Friday to Sunday prime rib special. Another downer was they ran out of the full size cheese pizza and only had a pizzookie-sized pizza (kid's meal) which is way too mini for a personal size portion. We think it was odd (or poor planning?) that BJs ran out of a popular dish early - 7:30 pm dinner on a popular day Sunday, thus downgraded BJs to 3 stars. To add, skip the margarita flight which was mostly ice and a cocktail of awful artificially sweet colored syrups sans tequila! Yuck! I should have complained and asked the bar to re-do it but I didn't thus, the 3 stars stuck. Overall, we had a great time, a good meal, and an excellent customer service from Fidel on this visit and would return again. So, check out this BJs but omit the margarita flight, skip pizza if they ran out of the regular size portion, and ask to be seated in a booth along the wall far away from the bar and kitchen where the decibel seems the loudest!!!
