We had our small wedding at Rose Haven, TX, on October 5, 2024. This is a beautiful venue for your events! The price is very affordable, and you will get your money's worth! The indoor part of the venue has great acoustics, and you will enjoy the sound of the music at your future event. It also has great space for a dance floor and a place to prepare your food. The outdoor part of the venue was refreshing, spacious, and gorgeous. The venue manager, Christie Seguin, is meticulous with her landscaping and with the upkeep of the antique roses. The venue features simple but elegant white tables and chairs that you can utilize both indoors and outdoors. The indoor and outdoor spaces are divided by five garage doors, which you can choose to open fully or as many as you'd like. The whole venue is well-maintained and clean. There's also plenty of parking. We do recommend having your event here since the positive interactions with Christie far outweigh the stressful ones. Please be cautious about the following things mentioned below in the last paragraphs. We also recommend clarifying the below issues in your contract and before you book.
Christie was very accommodating, easy to work with, and highly responsive to any inquiries you may have. Our original venue, The Artemis LLC, canceled our reservation a month before our wedding (08/21/24) because it was double booked. (Please read our review and DO NOT book any event with that company). Christie read my (the bride) SOS post on a wedding Facebook group, and she reached out to me. We are very grateful that she had availability on 10/05, and accommodated us by matching the price of our previous venue. It was very difficult to find a venue that met the specifications we wanted and was within budget. We wanted a venue where the ceremony and reception areas are in close proximity to each other, with a ceremony outside and reception area indoors. We also liked how there was no extra fee for the tables and the chairs, and she also set them up before the wedding. She accommodated having my husband walk through the venue with our vendors on September 14, 2024 and with me on September 19, 2024 because I lived out of Austin at no extra charge. On the day of the wedding, Christie was fully present, attentive to our every need, and easy to approach. We were also running late when cleaning up the decorations after the wedding because they were placed in different family members' cars. Christie was understanding and didn't charge a late fee.
We did have a few conflicts/misunderstandings with her:
First, at our ceremony rehearsal on October 4, 2024, Christie had other people touring the venue, which we did not appreciate. We understand it is a business, but we felt disrespected. We would've liked to know she planned to let other people tour the venue because we wanted privacy. She then called my husband, the groom, later that day in the middle of the afternoon, while we were all at a restaurant for our rehearsal lunch. She told him she lost our deposit money and accused one of the people who came to the rehearsal of "stealing" it. She soured the festive mood and caused me (the bride) and our close family and friends to worry. We also saw him hand the money to her; although, we should have made sure we received a receipt for the deposit. She had no right to accuse our close friends and family of stealing since she didn't know them and there were other people touring the venue. Christie found the money that evening and quickly apologized to him by phone. I also believe the situation should've been handled differently. She should have not called my husband and tried her best to find the money first. Since it was her responsibility for losing the deposit, we believe it would be her responsibility to return it through reducing the cost of the reservation.
During the wedding, artificial flower petals were thrown at the beginning of the ceremony. Christie didn't mention real flower petals were not allowed outside because they affect the natural flora. I specifically asked what wasn't allowed and Christie only mentioned no indoor open flames due to protecting her antique tables. The flower petals were picked up immediately and were allowed during the ceremony. After the wedding, she called us about a missing tablecloth (apparently, the DJ we hired borrowed one of the facility's tablecloths) and asked us to return it to her. We checked all the equipment we had and confirmed we did not have the tablecloth. Additionally, we had already moved to Oregon, which she knew, so we were not in a position to return it even if we did have it--which we didn't. We recommend not lending out materials before checking with the day of coordinator. My husband and I had plenty of tablecloths to lend to the DJ instead. read more
