First time seeing a performance here! I didnt know what to expect, but knew I had "nose bleed" seats. But, there are no bad seat. Small quaint venue where every seat is great!!! I was 3rd row from the top and loved the view of the stage and performer!! The sound was great! The seats are padded and fairly wide. I did not feel crowded by my neighbor. Parking is free and 100' away next to the Vietnam War Memorial. I would not hesitate to see another show here!! read more

The ballet performance of Sleeping Beauty was a breathtaking display of classical dance, artistry. The elegant costumes , the entire performance transported the audience into a world of enchantment. One of the most memorable moments of evening was adagio of solo for Princes Aurora performed by (Yelena i think this is her corrected name). She displayed remarkable control and elegance as she balanced on her point shoes. her technique and poise drew gasps and applause from the audience, making it clear why this role is considered one of the most challenging in classical ballet. Another standout solo was performed by the Prince who brought strength and charm to his character. This performance showcased not only the beauty of the ballet, but also the dedication and talent of the solo dancers and entire cast. read more

Came to see the musical 42nd street. There is parking in a large structure across the street from the theatre. The seats are leveled with each row slightly higher than the next to ensure everyone can have a good view of the show. Concessions are very reasonable at $1 each item (soda, water, and chips). The show was well done. My only negative is the microphones had several episodes where it had scratchy interference that made it difficult to hear the artists. read more

I'm JUST talking about the actual theater because the productions are amazing. Top notch theatrical performances. Go see a show here! Parking is easy and plenty. Staff is very nice. Bathrooms were a bit "dicey" (no paper towels, etc at intermission). I love a good intermission where there are choices for snacks, drinks, wine, etc...chips and water only for 2 USD each. 1st time here for a play. Beautiful roomy theater! Parking is confusing as it appears to be part of a community college but found street parking around the corner. Theater was also a little difficult to find. Make sure you arrive a little early so you don't walk in as the production is starting like we did (thank goodness for late seating). read more

I saw "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying" last night at the Rose Center Theater and it was fabulous! The last show is on Sunday, August 11 and I encourage everybody to go see this comedy musical with an absolutely amazing cast. I laughed so hard and am still blown away by the local talent that we have in Orange County. The singing and dancing, set design and costumes were awesome. Definitely my favorite character was Hedy LaRue! Ba Boom! There isn't a bad seat at this venue and I'm now on their mailing list and can't wait to visit again! read more

Beautiful theater! I was surprised with tickets to see The Little Mermaid musical here. The location does have parking you can pay for but I think if you come about an hour before, you can find plenty of free parallel parking. If you bought tickets online, you can just follow the link in your email and show the digital ticket. No need to waste paper and print. The lobby is spacious with seats and restrooms available. You can also rent some ballrooms here for a wedding or events. The seats inside the theater are comfy and are labeled with a # on the flipped up seat. The Little Mermaid play itself was better than expected with a sing along at the end of common Christmas music. The cast, stage, and props were all incredible! I highly recommend seeing any plays at this location. read more

I'm always happy to see appreciation for the arts! Especially theaters (live-action, not screens). I never heard of the theater until I saw a billboard for Spamalot! I am a huge Monty Python fan and my dad said the show was amazing on Broadway so I had to see it! I went online first to Goldstar.com which for those of you who are not familiar with it is a website that sells discount theater tickets to venues all over your county! They are cheaper because you don't know what seats you will get until the day of the event but if you don't care where you sit it is totally worth it. I have done with half a dozen times and never had horrible seats. Back to the theater. I'd say it's on the smaller side. Not super tiny (I've been to theaters with about 30 seats) but not super large either. I'd say about 150 people could be seated in the theater. Basically the size of the smaller theaters in a movie theater complex. The acting I have to say was a bit disappointing. Don't get me wrong, they were much better than I could ever do but I feel like if it was my profession and I had the talent I would have stepped up my game a bit more for the show. Some of the actors were great but others seemed to just be going through the motions, just saying the lines to say the lines. Afterwards the cast came out to meet the audience but then we realized that it was mainly just to see their friends and family. In fact, most of the audience was friends and family. How nice of them to show their support! So Goldstar put us front row center, which was not as good as it sounds in this theater because we were right next to the band and they were blocking our view the entire time! We ended up just moving after intermission to the back row since they were empty and had a much more pleasant experience. So if you are purchasing tickets and get to choose your seats, my advice to you would be to pick at least 4 rows back. It's close to stadium seating so you don't have to worry about people blocking your view...except the band in the first row! If you purchase through Goldstar and they put you up front, just wait for the show to nearly begin and snag some empty seats in the back if they are available. At least that is what I plan to do if I ever go back. Which may be awhile because I think I would only see another show there if it was a musical I was dying to see and it is either see it with mediocre acting or no acting at all. Price isn't bad though, I may go just to support the center! On Goldstar they were only about 20 bucks after fees and at the center's website they were only 40 bucks...not bad for a live-action stage show these days! read more

The ROSE CENTER THEATER gave a wonderful presentation of "THE LITTLE MERMAID" - you've got to go see it. Actors were on roller skates and skated around the stage looking like the little fish they were portraying. This play was so well done, the costomes were sensational and the singing and dancing by the actors was fab. Talented peeps that's for sure. Yes, I had tears because there were sad parts (maybe just me), but when the actors suck you in they are doing their job. April Malina has a voice that even a mermaid should have and is also beautiful in her own way, expressing herself as the Princess even as she swam away. You will love to dislike Lisa K. Taylor who was wonderful portraying Ursula with her talons (if that's what they are called). Funny! The theater itself is very comfortable and quite lovely. Took the family to watch A Christmas Carol. We watched the Saturday 7:30 pm showing. I was pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem and thoroughly enjoyed this musical. Seating is great, it's a small theatre so you'll get a great view anywhere you sit. I absolutely loved it's live orchestra, Dale Jones (Mr. Scrooge) fantastic. I can't say enough great things about the entire cast. Lively singing, dancing and a poignant story sure to touch your heartstrings perhaps shed a tear or two. I brought my wiggly 6 yr old and ever so cautious easily scared 8 year old. Both delightedly sat through the 2 hour show (with 1 fifteen minute intermission). The show is not scary at all, the production found the perfect balance and never took the dark and ghostly scenes past the threshold to the realm of fear. If I could, I would come back again to watch the show this season. After the show, all of the actors made themselves available for conversation and photo ops in the lobby. Thank you! I highly recommend the show. Its a perfect way to support great talent and good-quality community theatre. I have seen shows in LA and fancy productions here in the OC but I must admit the intimacy of being so close to the cast was exceptional. If you ever have a chance to see a show here you must go!! Nice venue although a little small. It is very clean and modern looking. I've had the pleasure of visiting both the theater, ballroom, and outside area and have nothing to complain about. Went to see South Pacific last night; great performances for a community theater. "Bloody Mary" definitely sold the show and the set design was nothing short of amazing. Bravo! The Rose Theater is a great little community theater. It's very clean and well maintained. Another plus - it isn't very big so all of the seats are pretty good. I came here to see the Biola Youth Theater production of the Lion King Jr. A friend's child was performing in it, I would have no interest in seeing a children's musical otherwise. The first row of seats was really just a makeshift row of chairs that were pulled in from somewhere else to accommodate the audience. They were relatively hard and uncomfortable and my butt started getting sore during the second act. These chairs were also not numbered, which made it difficult to find my seat, and caused a mixup in the front row where several people who were seated, myself included, had to shift one seat to the left. What else? I arrived close to the showtime and had to park in a section of the parking lot that was almost impossible to get out of afterwards - it was right in front of a fence and backing out was a tight squeeze. Using the women's restroom during intermission was also a pain as it seemed almost every other person and their kid was waiting in line. I won't focus on the quality of the production since that isn't the Rose Theater's responsibility so much as the production company that put on the musical, but what I will say is this - the Biola Youth Theater group seemed to include way more children in the musical than necessary - there were probably around 40 or more kids in the chorus, some of whom almost didn't look like they knew what they were doing or learned their parts the week before the show and were out of sync with the rest of the group. I assume that to sell more tickets and get more donations, they overcrowded the cast, sold more tickets than they should have, which compromised the quality of the show and the overall experience for the audience members who had to sit in less than comfortable seats, struggle to find good parking, wait in long lines for the bathroom, etc. Management for the theater should have advised the theater group to sell less tickets or reduce the cast in an effort to limit the possibility of overcrowding, but I think they were just as money-focused. There were several talented young performers but the theater company turned it into some kind of school musical by insisting on giving every kid a part. Anyway, wasn't a great experience. No real plans to return to this theater. read more

I've eaten at a banquet here, I've gone to a play here, and I've lived around this area for a good chunk of my life. Banquet: It's beautiful inside. Very clean, very elegant. The food is delicious. Theater: Not that big, but good size for being in Viet-town Westminster. Theater is clean, comfortable seating and spacing. The people here are pretty friendly and professional. Haven't had any bad experiences here (yet). Also nearby, there's Freedom Park, Westminster City Police Station, Westminster Library and a senior home so the area is pretty safe. Great theater and great musical (we saw My Fair Lady). The talent was GOOD! Eliza and Henry Higgins were terrific. There are no bad seats, as the theater was nice sized, but not too big. They need to have management start the play on time (20 minutes late today) and the intermission was slow to end too. If you go up the stairs in the lobby you can enter the theater from the top. Good short cut! All in all a pleasant day at the theater in Westminster! read more

Seeeney Todd was amazing it is actually my favorite movie and was my first time seeing a play. The characters played such an amazing role not to mention their singing was unbelievable. I was very satisfied with my experience. The props were so great I have seen videos of other plays and they don't have much props. The theater was very comfortable and the parking was very easy to get to. My overall experience was amazing. The only thing I wish and think they would increase revenue is if they had more selection for their concession stand. Everyone there was well over the age of 50 and I am sure they would have loved beer, wine and food options. read more

Attended a catered event here. Much nicer than I expected. Food was good. Nice addition of parking structure across the street, however, it's not clear that you need to write down your stall number before paying downstairs at kiosk. (Actually, they had a staff member at the kiosk running it, so I didn't stop to read). It seems pointless that you do at all since there is no gate downstairs. Apparently, I was supposed walk back to my car to put my ticket on my dash. Live and learn. read more

Very nice professional theater in Orange County. Good venue regardless of who is performing (because they are rented out almost every weekend to a different company). They have easy Disabled Parking in front of the theater and at the corner of 13th and All American Way there is a large parking lot (technically for the court house - but it is free public parking). The only draw backs is that their website for purchasing tickets is very difficult and it is not possible to choose your own seats. Also be warned - they sell more tickets than seats, so if you come to the box office you can still buy a ticket to a "sold out" show, but you will be in a folding chair in the aisles or in the back. read more

Jut saw Spamalot at The Rose Center. First time seeing a show here. I saw it at the big OC PAC called Segerstrom years ago. This time is was at a small modern 500 theatre where the performers were a mix of OC HS for the performing arts, college and professional actors. I think the theater is for students of the arts to learn and practice. But you can see they surely practiced. The comedy timing and lines were quick and fun. Lots of enthusiasm and sing and dancing. Loved it when the all looked at Camelot and Patsy said "it's just a set". But what a set. All of the show was professionally done and did I say that the seating is all stadium seats with not a bad seat in the house. Highly recommend going to the Rose. And remember "Always look on the bright side of life" read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Never attended a show at Rose Center and never will. I was told by 2 staff members that they were going to call the Police on me for parking behind the theater. I was only there because no handicap spots were open in the main lot of the park. My grandson was playing baseball at Freedom Park and I was in my car watching from a distant. No other cars were there at the time . Two 2 staff members approached me and I explained why I was there. I told them I would leave once any of cars started to arrive. I was kind and did my best to explain and he said if I didn't leave they would call the Police. I was shocked to say the least. I of course left and seen no other cars arrive during the two hours at the park. They were very very rude, it was a public parking area behind the theater. I didn't get it. Oh, well guess they are out of work now. Karma. read more

Jayna Meyer played Belle in Beauty and the Beast on Saturday evening, May 21st, 2016 at the Rose Theater. Electricity was in the audience the entire evening. I mentioned to my wife that I love to be in theaters where the crowd is so alive and responsive. Jayna was the understudy and was awarded one evening to play Belle for all her efforts. I can barely put into writing how magnificent she was in this part. The grace, the elegance, the voice! I'm shaking my head pondering how she pulled this off. This young lady is going to be a star! Forget it...she's already a star! All the cast was unbelievable. Talent, talent, talent! Folks...please support our young people by attending these musicals and such right here in the Big OC.
