The broccoli in cheese sauce was actually pretty good as were the other veggies. The service was good and prompt but they were very busy and several of the young staff seemed a bit overwhelmed. With a little research we discovered they are advertising to hire a cook. That makes sense. It has a very nice pub atmosphere and I particularly liked the Royal Navy cap tallies over the bar.

If you've got a car and wondering where to eat after a day trip in Skomer...this place is perfect for you (IMHO). We initially wanted to go somewhere else as it had 4.5 star rating on yelp but that other place was closed on a Sunday so we re-yelped and found this absolutely fabulous little hidden gem very close to the hotel we were staying at, the Cleddau Bridge Hotel. As we parked the car, we said to ourselves, wow this place is gorgeous and it seems that not too many people know about it. We were super hungry as we'd just spent a day in Skomer and so when the food came it was bliss. EVERYTHING was so delicious and I dare say it's not because we were very hungry. We had the steak and stilton pie, the Sirloin steak with creamy mushroom sauce and gloriously fried fish and chips and ended with the crumble of the day. The pie was simply perfect, the steak was a great showcase of Welsh beef and it's sauce was one of the best mushroom sauce I've had and the battered fish was perfectly fried. Crumble was lovely. Oh dear, I'm hungry just writing this review. OK - now to the visuals. The pub itself and interior is nice and cozy. Quite pretty in fact with cute decorations here and there. And then there's the outside. We would have sat outside if we hadn't been outdoors on an island with no shade for 5-6 hours as the view was just lovely. You could easily come here on a beautiful evening and have a very romantic (and as above, DELICIOUS, meal) seeing the sunset on the River Cleddau. Needless to say that we will be back here again on our next trip in Wales :)

The food menu is typical pub food like Lasagne, Bolognese, gammon, sausages, scampi and fish with the odd twist like Thai Red Chicken Curry, Mussels Marinere and dressed crab, most main dishes are good value at £7-10. We had steak and chips served with mushrooms, peas and onion rings and also braised lamb shanks with red wine and rosemary. In both cases the main ingredients were actually nicer than expected, but let down by very over-cooked vegetables. Good value and recommended, especially given the lack of decent local competition.

There is a varied menu stacked with traditional pub meal dishes. The owners are constantly trying to update and improve the menu and take much of their inspiration from Jamie Oliver. The pub is run as a family affair with three generations of the same family working here. The meals are mainly cooked by Steve, who owns the Stable Inn with his wife. The food is good, and reasonable. Food is only served until 9pm when the ovens are cleaned. Occasionally items on the menu are sold out, but there is sufficient selection for this not to be a major issue. The owners have recently redecorated part of the restaurant with comfy leather sofas which enhance the relaxed atmosphere in the bar area.
