Carne asada burrito and green salsa.
    Fabian L.

My wife and I decided to take a cruise to McFarland since we've seen the movie a few times and we live closer now. We spoke to a couple locals and they recommended this restaurant. We kept it simple, two carne asada burritos with everything to go. Rode back home to Bakersfield, they were wrapped perfectly as they were still hot. Now the best part, the food! The burrito was delicious and hefty, the ratio of all the ingredients is in my opinion perfect. I had to dive in with no sauce, it reminded me of the Mexican food I grew up eating. They provided two sauces, one red and one green. I'm a huge fan of green salsa, actually I prefer green over red. But, if you're going to rate something, you have to go all in. Red salsa with the second bite, boom! Immediate flavor burst, good mesh of all the ingredients. It wasn't too spicy, but my tolerance is a bit higher. So here I go, green means go and man did it deliver! Green salsa has the perfect spice, doesn't take away from the flavor of the burrito, instead compliments it so well. My wife and I will definitely be returning here. We wanted to eat inside, but it was hotter inside than it was outside, would have loved to enjoy the burrito fresh off the grill, but it was delicious nonetheless! Staff was welcoming and helpful, I loved the simplicity of it all. We're all used to a massive menu or something digital, but that's not the case here. They have a menu on the wall and that's that, loved it but wasn't expecting the simplicity.

On our way to Yosemite but wanted to stop and eat some breakfast. So glad we stopped here! The chilaquiles were so good!! They were crunchy and had a kick to them . The horchata was really good too! Would drive 2/3 hours to eat here again

My mom enjoying her jamaica and pozole. My caldo de res.

Excellent! Like others, I was driving on the 99 and stumbled across this place. Oh my goodness- the food is authentic and delicious. My mom ordered the pozole, the jamaica drink (hibiscus) and I ordered the caldo de res. We received homemade corn tortillas. My mom who makes an excellent pozole found this pozole to meet her standards. The restaurant is nicely decorated with beautiful colors and very clean. It is named after the family matriarch- Rosa Silvestre. A self portrait of this beautiful woman adorns the restaurant wall. Don't hesitate- stop and eat some delicious food, and drive around the neighborhood.

Great Food! Really very cool stop on way up 99. We stopped because we just loved the movie made about this little town. Really a great movie and true story especially in todays age when there is so much emphasis on differences in humanity in negative ways. It was an honor to visit this town and restaurant as consider the great culture and evidence of excellence when you put your heart into it. The restaurant was quaint and unassuming, the food was really excellent. I encourage you, stop by. After make a stop at the original store next door that was very much featured in the film. People were welcoming and just going about their business. Great stop.

Nice little hole in the wall place, family owned and authentic Mexican food. Simple menu, soups, breakfast items and traditional dishes. Food portions and temperature are on point. Reasonably priced, good service and easy parking.

You are welcomed in by the bright, vibrant interior walls adorned with authentic Mexican wares. the interior seems sparse, yet this place makes up for what it lacks with authentic Mexican food that will quell even the hungriest of bellies. Having tried hundreds of Mexican restaurants throughout the country (over the road truck driver), nothing comes close to the flavor profile found at this establishment. they have a simple menu, but there's nothing simple about the flavor. There was a period where the quality suffered. I was told it was because the previous owners were cutting corners, but fortunately, the new owner is sticking to the original quality it had set out to deliver to the community. Every time I find myself traveling up or down the 99, I make it a goal to stop at this place when it is open. I've tried several of their dishes; Posolé, menudo, the tacos are great, using handmade tortillas, quesabirrias, birria, and my current favorite, torta ahogada. all of these pair well with their ever changing selection of aguas frescas! I Can't wait to go back again and try more of the menu!

You could easily pass it if you were not paying attention. You go inside and find this brightly colored, well kept little shop. You can see the aguas frescas as you walk to the counter. We ordered pupusas and quesabirria. Order 3 quesabirria and you get a free consommé. The birria was so soft and the consommé and an excellent flavor. The pupusas were well filled and a nice size. We really enjoyed everything we got and look forward to going back and trying some new items soon.

Stumbled on this Mexican restaurant while searching for food in McFarland. It's a narrow little restaurant decorated with bright colors and authentic Mexican art and folklore. Their tacos were delicious and my friend who got the quesabirria raved about them! The horchata is a large portion and it was delicious. The bathroom was clean. The only thing I wish was different was the temperature of the restaurant - there was no air circulation and it felt hot and musty. I'd come back here if I am ever in McFarland again. Check them out!!

The restaurant is spacious and classy. As soon as we walked in we could feel the lively vibe and festive atmosphere with good music playing, and they also had a group of singers serenading the customers. Nice touch! After we were seated our server was quick to take our order despite the place being packed. I order the shrimp rancheros, which consisted of a generous portion of shrimp in a tomato, onion and green pepper sauce. It was so yummy! It was also served with rice, beans and a salad. Husband had the enchiladas, rice and beans. It was very good as well. My son ordered the tacos gobernador and his girlfriend had the enchiladas in a green sauce. They both liked their meal and said that it was very good. Honestly, we were pleasantly surprised! Being that it was Mother's Day, and one of the busiest days of the year for restaurants, we kind of expected some hiccups. They managed the service and food very well. Kudos to the staff and especially the chef! Our food was fresh, delicious and served perfectly. We will definitely be back.

The fish in the roll tasted very fresh yet one note is that I recommend that the rice used in the roll to be sushi rice as I found the rice on the mushier end. The plants hanging from the ceiling and the bar were beautiful. The waiter was extremely attentive to my family and very friendly.

Thankfully Hole in One Cafe provided us with a place to not only gather and catch up but fill our bellies with DELICIOUS food. I am a chilaquiles snob and have actually stopped ordering because more often than not they disappoint. Thankfully my friend ordered the red chilaquiles and WOW!! Sauce was perfect and just the right amount was used to adequately cover the homemade chips but still leaving some chips slightly crispy. And the side of fried panela cheese was amazingly tasty! I ordered the most basic dish on the menu, beans, potatoes and eggs. Though simple, it was beyond satisfying and I especially appreciated that the honored my request to pop the yolk. Another friend ordered the breakfast burrito and was equally pleased with her order. Service was very friendly and attentive and are server regularly checked in to refill our coffee.
