Excellent find on a leisurely Sat drive. Sweet retro dining area with counter seating also. Greeted with welcoming smiles from our server and hostess. The food is excellent. My Huevos Rancheros was delicious. Nice sauce topped eggs with lovely rice and beans. Hubby's Chili Colorado and eggs made him so happy. He said it was the best Chili Colorado that he has had in a long time. It had wonderful texture, cooked with love to develop all that spicy silky goodness like he loves it. Served with fluffy scrambled eggs, rice and beans. Fresh tortillas which I think were house made, and delivered to our table by a sweet lady. She definitely gave off those Tia/Abuelita vibes. We felt like we had been invited into someone's home for a family meal. If you need fancy, this isn't that kind of place. Had a great experience from the minute I walked through that door. It's a hole in the wall but what made it great was the handmade corn tortillas. Plus just seeing the whole family come together as a team to make the family business run smoothly. You see the grandma & grandpa from aunts to uncles. One tia making the tortillas it just made you feel as if you were home. The agua de orchata was delicious the cafecito was home made . This place is awesome I ordered the bacon and eggs with hash browns for $4.99 and got at least 5 pieces of bacon to go with the 2 over easy eggs and 2 pieces of hash browns. They also give you fresh homemade tortillas. I also ordered a carne asada taco and it was quite tasty especially with the fresh radish. The carnitas had excellent flavor and the rice was a perfect. I walked in expecting great food. I walked out very disappointed. I was greeted at the door with blank stares; so i sat myself at the bar. Almost immediately an 11 year old girl plops chips and salsa in front of me and asks me what i want to drink. i say water and she serves me up some water then continues to stand right in front of me breathing onto my chips and salsa as i look over the menu. I order and despite my phobia of germs i give the salsa a try. It was incredibly spicy. I had a few bites and decided to eat the chips plain. I love chicken burritos and usually always get one except in the chance that it could be deep fried. Well this place couldn't deep fry it for me. I asked for it without onions and cilantro (only chicken beans and rice). The burrito came with onions and cilantro in it.. FAIL. The entire time i was at this establishment an older gentleman sat behind the counter playing a scratch ticket while the 11 year old girl did the waitressing (can you say child labor laws??). I take that back; he did get up once to put chips in a bag for a TO GO order. he didn't wash his hands. FAIL. Needless to say i did not finish my dinner. On the plus side it cost me less than $5. Very good good I had eggs with machaca and my 9 yr. old daughter had quesadilla with rice and refried beans She liked the Quesadilla so much I had to order one extra. The food was Very good! This is the kind of place that doesn't look like you'd want to stop at but you should. The food was really good. A lot of the food was freshly made, like the guacamole. Service was good and the food came quickly. This is a good local place to stop if you are driving through the Wasco area. The 4 stars instead of 5 is more about the need for some updating inside and lighting needed outside. It was hard to see with literally no outside lights at night. read more

We stopped here on our way home from the coast to the Central Valley. What an unexpected surprise. Family run business owned for 23 years. The decor was somewhat aged but clean and this just enhanced the ambiance effect for us since we were craving some homemade Mexican food. We had whole tilapia fish (cooked to perfection)and chile verde(with a deep green color from the homemade sauce a little spicy but not too bad. Like each bite was a nice dip in a good salsa and chip dip.) Salsa was spicy and light. Food was delicious the beans and rice were yummy and the homemade corn tortillas were fabulous and they don't skip on your servings. The ice tea was fresh brewed! The staff very friendly and kind. The only disappointment was they were sold out of chile relanos one of our favorites.. homemade food takes time! We will make a habit of stopping here on our frequent travels to the Pacific! Great little restaurant in Wasco. A must stop for a quick breakfast before heading over to Hacienda Hidden Grove to sell some new homes.

Incoming I got to M's house round about 9-am. RT was snoring on the couch. We pack, talk shit and generally get the lead out. RT is still snoring on the couch. M shakes him. Then says "Time to roll out." "Hey RT we gotta hit the road." he states in a authoritative voice. Then he shakes and speaks to him all at once " RT lets get on the road." Nothing. M puts on some tunes on what's left of the stereo we are packing to take to Vegas and RT starts to swing his foot to the beat. One short hour later we are on the road. The drive down the 5 looked a little bleak. RT was sleep again and we had just started the 3rd CD of M's Rebel Music Radio Show. M's show is on Radio Free Berkeley 104.1 fm 6-8pm on Sundays. But having been there for the show and listen to it before it just wasn't doing much for me. Off in to the wild blue yonder. Almost as soon as we pull on to 46 I can feel the vibe change. RT is up. M's gettin' all talkive. He says "I got this spot I like to stop @ on the way up and back. The food is good and the place is crazy." Orchard after Orchard then he pulls to a stop. The place ain't much to look at but the food was fast, hot and good. They were out of the orchata (sp?) and stuffed peppers that RT wanted. He had a cig and seat out side instead. I had the hard taco and enchilada. Chicken all the way around. I ate till it hurt. I rolled out the booth past the juke box that was on and the TV that was off out to the Highway. Just a little under half way to the City of SIns. Well at least it tasted good so far. read more

I was going to eat at the well known named restaurant at the motel when I spotted La Cabanita across the street. Needless to say I chose to go to the small restaurant for Mexican food. We were served promptly and with a big smile. We asked several questions regarding items on the menu and got clear answers to all. We have eaten Mexican all over the US and have had very good food at many locations, but never better, anywhere. The goodness started chips (freshly made there) and continued with the salsa. Both were outstanding in flavor and freshness. The salsa would likely be too hot for most people, but I think they would serve a mild version. The goodness continued with the entries. My wife ordered garlic shrimp. My next question is; is it legal to serve food this GOOD? The garlic and shrimp were blended and cooked to perfection. I ordered the whole deep fried tilapia, as I do everywhere I go. The fish had a very dark, crispy exterior. I have seen this before worried that it would be dry. It was NOT. The fish was moist and flakey. Every bit of the tilapia was perfect. And don't get me started on the tortillas. Home made on site, they live up to the rest of the food and service. DO NOT judge this book by its cover. Go there and have the best Mexican food anywhere. read more

I ordered a Pepsi and find a roach floating in it. and then Another day I ordered a Horchata and find another roach floating in my drink. come on now. if your going to own a restaurant make sure It is clean and has no pest.
