They have over 100 artist stalls! And they rotate new artists in and out all of the time! Hands down, I think this is the coolest store in Chicago. If you know of any other stores like this, please leave me a comment. I love visiting the street art fairs around town. But as we all know, Chicago weather isn't always conducive for such. I will definitely return to see how artists refresh their stalls and on the lookout for new items from new artists that rotate in or have a temporary popup. Its places like this that make our city unique and flourishing in the arts and culture. So do yourself a favor and visit. They have lots of cool Chicago centric stuff. It has a very local, casual vibe, and many of the people there seem to be regulars. I went for the wine tasting, which they offer every Thursday from 5-7pm. The tasting costs only $5, but it is free with any purchase. We bought the red wine cheese set for around $13, so we got our wine for free. They also kindly cut and arranged the cheese for us, and it was perfect for two people. We got to try four wines: Italo Cescon Pinot Grigio, Schild Estate GMS, Viva Valentina Sangiovese, and Chateau Kefraya Les Breteches. The GMS and sangiovese were definitely my favorite. It was a really great experience! Everyone was really friendly, the price was incredible, and the wine was high quality. I definitely hope to be back here.

I was on my way to Alchemy Arts and was crossing the busy intersection at Broadway when I saw a…read moreblack cat very close to the road, so I pulled over to try and move her to a safer spot. I noticed the cat did not have a collar on and decided to quickly take her to the nearest vet to get scanned for a chip. Luckily, the cat did have a chip and the owner was notified. The vet told me the owner did not seem concerned and said the cat was an outdoor cat, but that they would come pick her up from the office. I was told I had to stay with the cat until the owner arrived. I waited at the vet's office for over an hour with the cat, and the owner arrived just minutes before the office closed. I explained to the owner that the cat was in the intersection and at risk of being hit, so I thought it was the right thing to do to get her scanned for a chip and try to contact the owner. The owner immediately became defensive and said, "Well she's an outdoor cat. She goes by the trees." I again explained that she was not by the trees, but instead right next to the intersection and at risk of being hurt or killed. The owner rolled her eyes at me and left with her cat. I later realized that the owner of this cat is one of the owners of Alchemy Arts, her name is Dayna. It's incredibly irresponsible to let your cat roam freely outside next to such a busy intersection. After further digging, it also appears that Marie the cat was attacked by a dog while roaming outside in 2025 and has gone missing for days before -- further evidence that this cat should not be outdoors for her own safety.

Malliway has enough room for a wheelchair to maneuver, which is a big plus. The shop has amazing vibes, relaxed lighting and ambiance, incredible selection (and not all Llewellyn either), fun little free and cheap magical activities (I made a tiny charm bottle! and rubbed a horses skull for luck!), and the owners clearly have excellent taste. I did get to meet one of the brothers the last time we were there, and he was so delightful to talk to - knowledgeable, friendly, and eccentric dress in the best possible way. I bought a book written by the other brother, a book on a topic I'd been wanting to learn more about for a long time. Even if you just have a few bucks, it's worth stopping by for the mood, and you'll definitely want to come back later when you can engage with more funds. They also offer cute gift certificates, and you get a tiny luck gift stone with purchases. My new favorite Chicago store, I hope to visit often.

Service was good; the people who've helped me have been friendly and made sure to package my fragile items very carefully and lucky they're still in one piece!
