The only downside was that the music was a little louder than I prefer, making conversation slightly difficult at times. Our waitress was incredibly personable and friendly, and she made us feel very welcome. Service was a bit slow, but it appeared she was the only server working that day, so it was understandable. The food more than made up for the wait. The biscuits were absolutely fantastic. The spring salad was one of the best salads I've had in a long time. The grilled chicken on top was seasoned beautifully and cooked perfectly, juicy and tender without being overdone. I'd definitely come back for the food and the welcoming service. Hopefully they'll have a little more staff next time, but it was still a very enjoyable meal.

She did a phenomenal job overseeing our whole group by herself. The food was good. I love a good southern comfort meal. But I'd be lying that I wasn't a little disappointed they didn't have chicken and waffles. They do have chicken and biscuits which looked good. But I was craving that delicious crispy meat over a savory waffle. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meals. Not a single person complained. If anything, they said how much food they got! When in the area again, will take a stop here to enjoy their food again!

I was in town when I first stopped by, and what started as a visit turned into spending the entire day with the staff. From that very first day, I felt something special. These wonderful people are no longer just restaurant staff to me -- they are family. Now, every month when I fly into town, I make it a priority to spend the entire day with my Down Home Comfort Cafe family. I love the atmosphere, the food, the conversations, and most of all, the people. I even enjoy talking with the customers and recommending different entrées. It feels like I'm coming home every time I walk through those doors. And let me tell you -- the soul food is absolutely incredible! The food is made with love, and you can taste that love in every bite. If you're looking for delicious, authentic soul food and an atmosphere where you're treated like family, look no further. In my opinion, the best soul food cafe is right here in Woodbridge, Virginia -- Down Home Comfort Cafe!

I love bread pudding, but this one just wasn't my favorite. It wasn't bad it just didn't quite hit the mark for me. The café itself is small, cozy, and welcoming. They have a small bar area, indoor seating, and a customer restroom that's tucked away in the back. When I stopped in, there were several people dining in, and it had a relaxed, homey atmosphere. Overall, I'd definitely recommend Down Home Cafe, especially if you're looking for a comforting brunch or a laid-back Sunday meal. I'll definitely be back for those chicken and waffles! Oh! Open parking!

We found that out the hard way but it was our fault, not the restaurant's. So we met an hour earlier. Lesson learned. I got the apple pie pancakes and they were amazing and the portions were huge. The biscuits looked good as well, my friend got them as a side, but I can only eat so much. The brisket hash and brisket bennie too. Everything is awesome here. You will not go hungry. They have many delicious apps and sides but you don't need them because the brunch portions are huge. You will have leftovers for one, maybe two more meals. That is a good thing. Only downside is parking is tight. There is a small lot out front, another one out back, and some street parking. You may have to drive around a bit to find it especially at peak hours. And the bathrooms are small. But this is an amazing place so be sure to check it out for brunch! Oh I have a hunch breakfast dinner and brunch would be so much more fun if I had it at Ruthie's All Day!

We requested a seat outside for the lovely weather. The patio is beautiful. Unfortunately, it did start raining so we moved inside, equally attractive. Our server was exceptional. I wish I could remember his name, but I brought my baby with me and when he was throwing a fit, my server handled the situation with such calm and understanding. Because of my beautiful little fit-thrower, I did leave early however I was still able to get a little nibble of my food before we took it to go. For my drink, I ordered the "Waaaay South" cocktail. Let's just say it had me waaaay tipsy (positive). For starters, I had the fried green tomato salad, crab cake, and Jamie's cornbread. Everything was good, but I have to highlight the Jamie's cornbread. It was so moist and melt in your mouth, honey. For my entrée, I had shrimp and grits and it was okay. I enjoyed my short visit to Succotash and I will return when I'm in town.

At first, I wasn't sure it was going to be enough food for two people, but I was definitely wrong! They started us off with four fried wings and the fried green tomato salad. The wings were really good, and the dressing on the salad was delicious. The fried green tomatoes were so good, I could have eaten the whole plate by myself! Then the Mac and cheese came out, followed by the catfish and chicken and waffles. By the time everything hit the table, we were stuffed! We did order an additional order of wings because they were so good. Everything else was good as well, and the presentation of the food was really nice. Everything came out looking appetizing and well put together. Our server, Niecy, was very nice and attentive. She made sure we were taken care of throughout the meal. I also want to mention that everyone working in the restaurant was friendly, which really added to the overall experience. I only have two suggestions: * The bathrooms need better lighting. I felt like I was using the bathroom in the dark! * I think they should give you more than four wings for two people with the family-style meal, especially since the wings were so good. Overall, we had a really good experience. The food was good, the portions were filling, the presentation was great, and the staff was friendly. I would definitely go back! I'm glad we decided to give this place a try because it really is a hidden gem.

We arrived about 45 minutes before closing. The server had to get permission from the kitchen to serve us, which was understandable, as we had a group of 6. We were sat downstairs near the bar and served with very friendly service from Christian. They even brought out cake for the birthday girl and allowed us to have her open her gifts. Christian also assisted my daughter with ordering her first drink from the bar! The food we ordered was amazing! I got the bucket of chicken for myself and my 10 yo, while others at the table tried the shrimp and grits and some amazing side choices like brussel sprouts, mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes. The restaurant has a nice vibe and décor, but has too may steps for me, not good if you plan on getting lit. Our server was amazing, she was very knowledgeable and professional. Food wise: The cornbread was good, it came out pipping hot, with butter melting. The pork belly was my favorite.... Omg the Pork Belly was the star of the show---it was so sticky and sweet, the eggs and potatoes were pretty good, nothing extortionary. I was a bit skeptical about the eggs being from a carton, since I didn't see any white in the eggs. The chicken was so greasy and slightly soggy on the bottom. I don't think I'd order that again, the waffles were pretty good. I feel like the chicken and waffles are just great for show, in my opinion that dish didn't really deliver what I thought it would. I would return again, the chicken did not discourage me. It could've just been a bad day. I would recommend giving this place a try.
