Overall a great experience. The server was wonderful. The restaurant is a little on the loud side luckily we got seated in the back room away from the bar. The menu selection was good. There was something for everyone. We started with a couple appetizers and drinks. The CHEESESTEAK BAO BUN was actually pretty good. It's obviously not a traditional bso bun but it was delicious. The shrimp wontons were pretty tasty as well. I got the salmon entree and it was perfectly cooked and yummy. Everyone seemed to be happy with their choices. Overall, an A+ experience. read more

In town for a couple of nights so we wandered down Market Street from our hotel looking for dinner using Yelp to guide us. This spot had strong reviews so we gave it a try. Given it was 95 degrees out the AC was welcomed. We started with a couple drafts of Algash white. One of my favorites. I ordered the short rib grilled cheese and my wife got the OG flatbread. The flatbread was actually more like a thick crust pizza which was different than expected but quite tasty. My grilled cheese with a small caeser was just OK because one of the cheeses, I am guessing the American, made it feel very gloppy. Too bad. Also though it wasn't too busy it took a long time for our food to come out of the kitchen. Prices were typical. An interesting menu so I would return but order differently. read more

First, I want to answer another review... Roost Pub is a place you definitely should come to if you're in downtown Wilmington! On a cold winter Sunday when parking meant squeezing between snow banks we could not have found a better place for dinner! It began with service, but doesn't it always begin with service? Our server was informative, friendly, and yes, appropriately funny. Our interactions with him throughout the dinner made the entire experience so much more pleasant! We made this choice for a very odd reason.. We had just seen him play where they mentioned cornbread and so we went hunting for cornbread. and the cornbread here ... oh my goodness it was so perfect! I went for the Maryland Crab Soup ... I was advised it would warm me up and that it might have a little bit of kick. It had a perfect kick, it warmed me up, it was filled with delicious ingredients, especially the crab and I pretty much licked the bottom of the bowl. My only complaint ... and this is my only complaint from this amazing day. is that the actual bowl that the soup is served in is one of those bowls that is difficult to get the last drops out of with your spoon. Our server highly recommended the mushroom flatbread but I went for the Cuban and he smiled and gave it a thumbs up. Fries, he asked, of course! Upon delivery both entrees looked amazing! My dining partners face lit up as she took a bite of the flatbread and then offered me a piece. Can I say OMG because this was amazingly good and perfection in a flatbread with those undertones of mushroom amidst whatever else was on top. My Cuban was huge And it was different than your everyday Cuban sandwich. but it really tasted good when I took that first bite. The french fries were perfection and the ketchup must have been in Sriracha ketchup it had that little bit of kick that I love. I came here with a group of coworkers for dinner. Drinks were very tasty overall. Most everyone enjoyed their food too - I ordered a flatbread which was more in the style of a Detroit pizza (not a deep dish, but a thicker bread). The taste was good, but I have to say that wasn't what I expected when I ordered. The calamari we had as an appetizer was really good. I selected this place because of it's proximity to the theatre (right across the street!) so it worked out very well for our schedule. I was able to make a reservation online, which is also always very helpful! The cocktails were surprisingly expensive ($17 for a cocktail seems like a lot to me) so I selected a beer. The beer selection was ok, though I thought it would be larger. The food menu was inventive (edible container for the deviled eggs was so fun!) and satisfying. It was mostly pub food, but, I like pub food! Overall, a solid choice and I would go back. read more

Stopped in for a drink and a bite before driving to Philadelphia for a flight home. We were offered a nice table by the window, but decided we'd sit at the nice big bar for quickest service. We usually get served fast at bars since the bar tender is usually there. As was the case on this day. The whole place is big, bright, and clean looking. The service was fast and friendly. My wife ordered a lemon drop that was fine, maybe a little too sweet. I got a local IPA that was ice cold and tasty. We shared nachos with jalapeños added. They were yummy and filling. If I lived in the area I'd likely go here regularly because it is nice and has a good atmosphere. read more

I've loved the other Bardea Restaurant Group offerings, so I was very excited for Roost to open and tried it out within their first week. The vibe was great, with a lot of deep greens, natural wood, and plants decorating the space. The front part of the restaurant has more character than the larger dining space in the back, but I will note that the dining space has a number of TVs and would be a great space to watch a game. Our server was nice, but was clearly nervous, had an inefficient flow, and didn't seem to really know the menu yet. Will chalk it up to first-week vibes for now. Drink-wise, my husband was excited to try the expansive tap list (though on his second round, they wound up being out of 2 beers he asked for before he gave up and asked for Miller Lite), while I tried two of the cocktails. The Blackbird (gin and prosecco with yuzu-blueberry shrub) was good, but not as fruit-forward as I had expected. I ordered the JOM for my second round, a mezcal drink with strawberry and red bell pepper that was surprisingly delicious and truly did taste as billed. We shared a few items for dinner, with the highlight being the pierogi. As a girl brought up with grandma's homemade pierogi, I found these to be an excellent rendition with the right texture and a great combination of flavors. We also ordered: - Shrimp Taquitos: nice crunch, flavorful shrimp filling --- a good dish but not mind-blowing. - Mushroom Flatbread: arguably not a flatbread as the crust was MUCH thicker, but good flavor. - Sweet Potato Fries: a solid rendition of a basic, served with a very spicy chipotle aioli For dessert, we shared the peanut butter pie, which was yummy. Party of 4, Sunday evening before a show at the Playhouse. We arrived 15 minutes early for our reservation. We were seated pretty quickly at a table by the window in the front of the restaurant. We were happy about that as it was quite crowded and busy and very noisy. Two of us had the Greek salad. It was good but not great. I was surprised it was chopped. It was large and filled me up. My 2 other friends had the Reuben and the Short Rib Grilled Cheese sandwiches. Both were very happy. Potato fries were very good. Our server was definitely working hard and did a good job taking care of us. Because of the noise level I would only return if seated at the front which was not as loud. Great snacks (apps) and drinks! Came with my coworkers on a tues night. The snacks were great- deviled eggs, bau buns, and empanadas were all delicious. The deviled eggs had a nice flavor with the crunchy bird nest looking basket that is a garnish. I preferred the salmon and broccoli which was good. It also not cooked all the way through in the middle. My coworkers ordered the Ceasar salad because it is supposed to be one of the best. The steak looked great and got decent reviews. It wasn't a huge portion but with all the apps it was the perfect t size. The drinks were tasty. Some of the cocktails came with a candy cigarette. The Chardonnay was slightly buttery which I appreciate. I'd like to come back and try out more food and drink options. The atmosphere is calm, trendy and good for groups or smaller gatherings. You can see the beer vats and a moped when you walk in. The lights and ambiance make it a comfortable place for dinner. read more

Served my kid raw chicken wings. Manager didn't bother coming over since she was too busy playing bartender. Had to ask for the wings to be removed from the bill and the manager couldn't be bothered to take care of it for 10 minutes. Rest of our food was between inedible and passable but bad. When we arrived, right off the bat, the host was not friendly! When we did not have a reservation, they said they could give us a table but gave us a time limit. They said we had to "give the table back" after an hour because they had other reservations. What establishment, who needs your business, does that? Anyways we were hungry so we didn't care. Also, our waitress just gave us menus... as opposed to the tables around us, their servers got specials explained to them. The food was meh. The way the food has been shown on social media did not look what we got served. Also, as two chefs at a restaurant, we know how a steak is supposed to be cooked, and my steak was still mooing. They also never gave us steak knife's so we were cutting the steak with a butter knife. Drinks were good. My son got a root beer and it tasted like the old style Mugs Root Beer. I got a cocktail which the first one came out right away and my second one took 20 mins from when I ordered it to when I got it. Overall I'd only back if there was nothing else available. read more

Went to Roost before the Little Feat show at the Grand last night. It took over 15 minutes to get 1st beer and 22 minutes to get second beer. I know they were busy but everybody at the far end (away from door) were getting taken care of quickly. My main complaint is about one particular bartender. Didn't get his name but skinny guy with beard, glasses and a baseball hat. Our 2nd drink was actually poured by the barback because instead of taking care of the people at our end he hung at the other end of bar and dried glasses. Trust me, we weren't the only ones complaining. Guys next to us all had to wait at least 15 minutes for drinks. Ruined an otherwise nice experience read more

So, here's the newest restaurant in the Bardea group. It's only been open a month so I'm taking that into consideration. First, they kept the bones of the previous restaurant, but gave it a very comfortable upgrade. It's really lovely, and well attended for a Thursday night. So, let's start with the cocktail. An absolute home run, positively delicious. Kudos! With it, I had the empanada appetizer which is filled with chicken pot pot and served with gravy. Beautiful presentation and delicious. My expectations were high. I ordered a glass of Rioja, not noticing it was a rosè. That's probably on me. Then I had the shepherd's pie. The presentation is nice, but the dish is somewhat bland and disappointing. And while it's served in a cast iron pan, making me think it'll be so hot it'll take the skin off the roof of my mouth, in reality, it was just warm. I was ready to give them a 5 until that point. We've always had positive and pleasant experiences at the other Bardea locations, so we were excited when we heard about Roost as a concept. We were fans of Stitch House Brewing, the previous occupants, so a week or so after they opened, we dined there on the Saturday evening before Father's Day. We were able to make a reservation through their OpenTable, and were seated immediately by the pleasant host station. One of the hostesses even came over and went outside with us to take a few pictures of my wife and daughter and I - really sweet of them. The physical space is beautifully appointed and a very chill, relaxed and gorgeous vibe. The service was outstanding - attentive, friendly, quick with a recommendation and a smile. Water jug was promptly refilled, and the manager came over and introduced himself, making sure all was well. Cocktails looked great, and the beer offerings were impressive, both draft and can and bottle - nice international craft selection! Menu had lots of delicious offerings, so decision making was not easy. We started off with the chicken nachos, and wow, am I glad we did. All three of us loved them - really among the best we've had from anywhere. My daughter got a side order of macaroni & cheese as her entree, and loved it - shells, cheesy, breadcrumbs, great flavor and a nice sized serving. My wife got the salmon, served with fig glaze and broccoli - really enjoyed it, especially the broccoli. I was torn between a few options, and went with the recommendation and got the reuben. Wagyu pastrami, thousand island dressing, homemade sauerkraut and gruyere - wow, what a sandwich. Delicious! Fries were excellent as well, everyone jumped in on those. We ordered a pair of desserts to share as a table, and both were hits. The peanut butter pie was stupendous and perfect, and the chocolate cobbler with gelato was delicious. Hostess was snide and condescending. She said the dining room was full, but could sit at the bar, as she looked at my clearly minor child. We go sit at the bar, and the bartender refused to let us order food, because my child is a minor, even though his hostess is the one who told us to go sit at the bar. Then, just to make it worse the "bar manager" comes over and his response to the whole mess was to roll his eyes at me when I told him what happened. This was my Plan B to my original Farmer & Cow destination. I walked up to that first restaurant to find it under renovation. Decent contractors said "try the Roost" upon my inquiry for a most similar backup. So up the street I went and entered. Decent decor and lots of TVs. All the same channel...WNBA pregame. All good but I'd like to watch a baseball game this summer night. I sit and get an immediate menu. This is good. I asked for dark beer besides Guinness. Founders, love Founders, but I like my glass filled, not with a big non-foamy void at the top. I ordered the salmon and get a conscientious "any allergies?" from the bartender.I say no but I'm curious. The bartender guy now says "so you HAVE allergies". No, I'm suffer from curiosity actually. So, I decide to ask for the Mets-Orioles game after 10 minutes. They say someone else asked and it should be up any minute. 20 minutes of neglect later, there's no food, no Mets, no love. I finally get my fish and broccoli entree. I have to say it was tasty but a bit salty even though it was topped with a sweet glaze. By the time I finish my meal, the rest of my beer and am sick of WNBA pregame x 3 screens and I have to beg for water. At that time, at least a near hour in, I have to just ask for the check also. Needless to say, the service was shameful and I hope the next time I'm in town I can check out my Plan A restaurant. read more

Hadn't been here since it was Stitch House, and am SO glad we tried it tonight. They've done a really nice job remodeling. Relaxing, welcoming vibe. Couldn't decide between the Pastrami or the Cuban, so my hubby & I split one of each. They were literally the best sandwiches we've had in a long time. For $110 I'm left disappointed. Service was very slow was in there over two hours. got the chicken pot pie empanada They were very bland with a weird seasoning on top that just didn't go with it to me and the gravy was way too salty. They weren't bad but they weren't great either. We also had the shrimp wonton barely any shrimp filling inside all but air and I did not like the wonton itself. salad Caesar salad wasn't the best ever but probably was the best thing at this restaurant. My Husband had the shepherds pot pie very bland and the pie crust was tough.I had the salmon and it was very gross not to be mean. I was told that the sauce was going to be sweet and spicy but it wasn't spicy at all and not very sweet either just tangy overly salty almost not edible. The hot ketchup literally isn't spicy. It just taste like ketchup mix with Tabasco sauce without the spicy, how does that make sense? I don't know ask for roosters pub & kitchen. Probably won't be back. Food is fantastic, huge fan of the pierogis and empanadas. Awesome craft beer selection with multiple top notch IPAs on tap, including Maine Lunch. Craft cocktails are delicious. Asked the bartender how he was able to suspend the foam for one of their drinks and he eloquently explained how he used food grade methylcellulose as a suspending agent. This is the type of knowledge, detail, and craftsmanship that you can expect at Roost and any other Bardea establishment for that matter. read more
