Honey Vanilla Latte and maple donut
Brittany L.

This is such a cute and quaint coffee shop! I was visiting Ann Arbor for a couple days and saw that RoosRoast was a must, and it did not disappoint! The staff were so friendly and welcoming! They offered so many recommendations and had so much knowledge about coffee. I ordered a hot Honey Vanilla Latte and it was perfect! It kept me warm, was the perfect sweetness, and had gorgeous latte art. I also got a maple donut which was the perfect sweet treat to start the day! Great experience and I would definitely come back!

RoosRoast has become a favorite coffee stop when visiting the Ann Arbor area. It is a great meet up spot with plenty of outdoor seating. The coffee is flavorful and the RoosFood is a tasty breakfast option. I'm a drip coffee black kinda guy, but they offer plenty of drink options. The burrito and egg bites are made in house along with their sauces. The eggy with Adobo sauce is a must! Service is quick and the staff is friendly.

When I lived in Ohio, I picked up a bag of Lobster Butter coffee beans. I thought the name was cute, as was the packaging. Even though I grew up 30 minutes for A2, I had not heard of RoosRoast prior to purchasing that bag at the grocery store (Whole Foods). Anyway, I finally made it here today. No pictures of the drinks but I ordered a lavender & pink peppercorn hot latte. I was a bit hesitant of the pink peppercorn part but it ended up being delicious! My mom ordered their chai, and she said it was one of the best she's had (and she has high standards!). I went and found Rebecca who took our order to thank her for the recommendation. She ended up giving me a sample of the pistachio syrup to try out at my mom's since it is a seasonal flavor. I thought this was really kind and the best of both worlds!! Looking forward to maybe making it out in December...

My husband loves this place! I tried their cold brew and asked for vanilla syrup to make it sweeter. It helped but I should have said yes to cream. Anywho, they are PACKED and it really shows how good they are (very long line). There is seating outside and I like how they painted and decorated everything.

Friendly staff, quality drinks, fun atmosphere! It isn't a trip to Ann Arbor without stopping in at RoosRoast! Their coffee doesn't disappoint and is good quality. I appreciate the welcoming staff as well as their ability to accommodate peanut and tree nut allergies - (i.e. needing to avoid almond milk & hazelnut) by making my drink safely. The line moves quickly & while noisy, isn't anything unexpected from a campus coffee shop. I definitely will be returning to Roos!!

RoosRoast is a really neat place! We stopped here while on a trip in Michigan. The shop and atmosphere was eclectic and fun. I ordered a Ancho Chili Mocha. It was perfectly balanced and not too sweet. I can't wait to come back and try some other items!

Roos is the best coffee I've ever had outside of Kona on the Big Island. I hate these trendy, hip little spots, BUT this one is hot for a reason. If Roos was in Manhattan there would be a line down the block. If you have never tried the Lobster Butter Love you haven't tried coffee. I highly, highly recommend trying it. It is so good. It really will ruin you for anything else. Hyperion nor Zingermans can not come close. I usually don't compare using names, but that's how much I want you to try it. Lobster Butter is a game changer, and every real coffee lover will agree. The service is also top notch real friendly not this fake happy. I can't say enough good about it TRY IT !!!!

Funky little coffee shop located just a few blocks off campus. Beautiful little location, with garden views. We were starving after a 3:30 wake up call and 6am flight so stopped for a little fuel. The burritos are delicious! We opted to leave the sausage off, still delicious. Ask them to warm up the cinnamon roll. It was amazing. Coffee is fresh and tasty. They roast their own beans in house, available for purchase. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Great little stop for breakfast, work session, meeting up with a friend or just a solo trip to enjoy some you time. We loved it

Lots of seating -shaded too!

Fabulous coffee , pastries, breakfast burritos and whole beans for purchase! My latte with 2% milk was smooth perfection. My cherry scone-(phenomenal. I bought a cute mug attesting to my being a bad a.b. And a 6 pk sampler box of their coffee beans. Large area of picnic tables and a sweet flower garden was the icing on the cake ! Just GO-you won't regret it!!! (Ps- outstanding service too)

Who knew - they run on solar energy!

The best all around hometown coffee spot in town! I ordered the Matcha Latte today. Creamy rush (green!) constitution didn't disappoint. Although there was a line when I arrived, it moved quickly and I didn't mind the wait in this funky warm environment with authentic community vibes. The sales person - reminded me I was holding my loyalty card when she asked if I wanted it stamped. Thank God! Ran into my friends daughter, Alexis, whose youthful effervescent sunny disposition matches the overall sentiment of other employees I've encountered here. A great visit - as always !

Now this is what coffee should always taste like. I was told the honey vanilla latte was their most popular drink and it did not disappoint. It wasn't too sweet and I tasted both the honey and the vanilla but still knew I was drinking coffee. It's a very hipster spot, but hipsters seem to make amazing coffee so carry on, please. The service was attentive and fast, and they seemed to have an awesome system in place to keep it moving smooth. The place just looked cool and made you wanna sit down for a little bit. I'm not in Ann Arbor very often, but when I'm back I will definitely stop by again.

I visited this little coffee shop per the recommendation of a random IG post, and it was such a treat! The shop itself is on the smaller side and offers a limited amount breakfast items to accompany your coffee (think donuts, muffins, bagels) but boy they sure are scrumptious. I ordered the bagel which was delicious. The bagel was warm, flavorful and absolutely everything a great bagel should be (trust this born and raised NYC foodie). The donut too was like something I've never experience before. The coffee was next level!! I ordered the Lobster Butter Love, a Sumatra-based blend that has a smooth, creamy body with low acidity and nutty after tones. It's super drinkable and by far, the best coffee I've ever had. I would easily become addicted if I had one locally. Best of all, the pricing was reasonable and the service was quick and with a smile. RoosRoast cafe has seating available indoors and a large outdoor patio to accommodate plenty of people. They have the original register from their first store on display and lots of cool merch!! When in Ann Arbor, add this spot to your list of places to visit. You won't be disappointed!!

First of all I recently realized there are two places in Ann Arbor! This one was good parking and great outdoor spot to study or read! Coffee: Let's get real here - RoosRoast knows their beans. Like, they're on a whole other level of coffee. And don't even get me started on their signature Lobster Butter!! So good and great gift Service: The crew at RoosRoast? They are very friendly and they give samples if they have a fresh batch ready. I like the cute card stock in the front! They will package gift items and if you need the beans grinded they offer that service! Ambience: Step into RoosRoast, and you'll instantly feel those cozy coffee shop vibes. It's like your favorite neighborhood hangout, but with way better coffee. Whether you're posted up with your laptop or catching up with friends, the chill atmosphere here is top-notch.

But none of that is why I'm here... I stopped in on my way to work yesterday to get a cup of coffee and decided I'd better write a review about what I got. Many of the reviews below mention the great coffee that Zingerman's provides. But as a coffee drinker of 30 years, I can confidently say Zingerman's roasts the MOST BITTER coffee I've ever had. I guess it's a product for connoisseurs, but I am a little disappointed they don't have a normal coffee that tastes good. They only have burnt tasting, extraordinarily bitter coffees that make a British IPA beer taste watery. What's up with that? Why no mellow coffee at Zingerman's?? Also, if the cream curdles as soon as I add it to the coffee, I'm grossed out. If I want curds in my coffee, I'll dump some cottage cheese in there. What I prefer is a nice, smooth, creamy cup of drip coffee. There's really nothing better!

I went to the first location, right in the heart of U of M and the line was out the door. So I then went to the other location which seemed larger inside with plenty of seating. So I approach the counter and place my order: iced banana foster with peanut butter cold foam (up-charge). Before ordering I did ask if the banana flavor was subtle or more forward tasting and she stated it was subtle so I asked for more banana flavoring as well. When I got the drink - I first noticed the foam was missing - so I asked about this and she said it was because the cold foam frother was broken. So I asked why was I charged for foam if it was broken and she said she forgot and didn't offer a refund or anything and I was running late, so I left. I take a sip in the car and notice that there's absolutely no banana flavor to the drink - it tasted like a basic iced latte with cane syrup. Overall, just disappointed with the service and drink itself lacking flavor and the up charge for something I didn't receive. Maybe this was a one off but I don't I'd return.

The main thing Drip House has going for it is that it is effectively the only coffee spot to sit and study or meet someone right by the stadium (where a bunch of us live and/or work). It is also open into the early evening when a lot of other coffee spots aren't. And we do love an outside seating option. The service has always been just fine and it's a pretty cute spot (not to sound ridiculously nit-picky but while we're here--someone might wanna sheer some of the many dead leaves off the beautiful plant inside though). Also, the banana oat latte they had as a special a couple months ago was delicious. So yummy. Some things I don't love about Drip House: the blue chairs. So uncomfortable. It is expensive and, dare I say, overpriced. The first time I got my $14 piece of ricotta toast, it was delicious. And I figured, fine. It's $14 for a piece of bread with a little cheese and jam but it's so yummy, I'll splurge every once in a while and go with it. Plus, I can't eat tree nuts, so it is one of the few options for me. However, the second time I got it, it was most definitely not worth it. The "whipped" ricotta was just a sad, thin wet layer and there was practically no jam. I get it. It's expensive out here. We're living in the shadows of the avocado toast economy where espresso drinks cost minimum $7 and you effectively can't buy anything for less than $4. But just because you feel like you *can* doesn't mean you *should.* Paying $14 for a piece of bread.... Come on. It's insulting. It feels exploitative. Will i be going back? Yes, because of the proximity and sometimes a girl needs to go for a cute little walk to get a coffee--just to feel something. Would I if there was a competing coffee shop nearby? That remains to be seen. Also the size of the "large" iced drink. Come on guys.

We found nearby street parking and we were able to get a spot on a comfy couch that was near a power strip. There isn't a ton of seating so I imagine it can get busy throughout the day. The building is historic and also houses a coworking space which has a lot of really great amenities. The vibe inside the coffee shop is cozy but modern, and I loved the decor. They also had some really great merch - the tote bags were calling my name! I ordered the cardamom fig latte and Nate got a golden milk latte. They do that thing where they just yell out the name of the drink rather than taking your name, but I loved everything else about this place. The cardamom fig latte was unique and definitely tasted of both cardamom and fig. They have bagels and some pastries. I really liked the varied seating (comfy couches/chairs, tables, and bar seating) and plentiful outlets for getting work done. The wifi was fast and consistent. Most recently I came here for a meeting, ordering a vanilla latte and a sweet potato hand pie to nibble on since I hadn't eaten yet. The description of the latter sounded so good, sweet potatoes with black beans and a few other veggies, wrapped up in flaky pie dough. The filling, however, was mostly pureed, giving it more of a baby food consistency which I didn't love. The flavor was good though but I couldn't get over the mushy texture. The black beans weren't pureed in but were few and far between (I think I maybe counted 2 or 3?). In addition to my hand pie I also ordered a piece of the billionaire's shortbread but they didn't ring it up/prepare it. By the time I realized it (I had to wait for my hand pie to be heated up) it was only a few minutes before close so I didn't bother going back up to the counter to reorder. IDK if they were just in a hurry to close or genuinely didn't hear my order but it was a bummer since it did look great. The vanilla latte, however, was quite good. And for a coffee shop that's most important. And what they lacked in substantial food options they did make up for in fun, seasonal drink specials and a few sweet treats like cookies and the aforementioned shortbread. The space is very cute, as well, and made for a really comfortable meeting location. So overall I did like my visit here. I just won't be rushing back here if I'm feeling peckish. But for a caffeinated pick me up and a nice place to meet or chill, this definitely fits the bill.
