The lady that helped me told me that the person that would service the watch was not in and would it would take a couple of days. A few days later they call me and tell me that the watch isn't working with the new battery. I thought it was weird that it wasn't working since it was before the battery dies. So I took it to the Swap o Rama flea market and the gentleman there opened the watch and told me that they bent a piece that holds the battery in place. He said instead of removing the piece probably by removing the screws they tried to pry it out and in turn scratching the pieces and bending the piece. So he ended up ordering the replacement parts and fixed it for me. I wouldn't recommend this place. If you do happen to do business here be very careful because if they are doing this type of work, I can imagine where else they're cutting corners or deceiving customers. Whether it's with watches or gold jewelry that they sell or buy. I mean, I got my watch fixed at a flea market for God sakes.

Diane had us come into her booth (the shop is a smaller space inside a larger antique mall) and and briefly remove our masks for the camera (this is a jewelry shop, after all). In COVID times, precautions were in place, followed & reasonable (Masks, plastic screens at counter). Diane was very polite, professional & helpful. We did go to a few other jewelry stores in the western suburbs, all pretty standard. They all had a few vintage rings, but nowhere near the selection of The Gold Hatpin. We had plenty to look at and Diane was great at listening & educating us. This was helpful because my fiancee & I *thought* we knew what we wanted but there were a couple factors we hadn't considered & her input was very helpful. Along those same lines, she was not pushy in the least. Many other "basic" jewelry stores wanted to source rings from other places, construct a "vintage looking" ring, etc & we got the feeling that we were dealing with a used car salesman at times. Diane was none of that & truly a pleasure to work with. We can't recommend Diane and The Gold Hatpin enough.
