Last week we were told that they have to order 60 items in order to place the order. Thinking that the more recliners they can get on a truck load, the more they save on shipping, at their customers' expense. Needless to say that we will not be buying anything more from Johnson Furniture.

They are helpful and have a big variety of different items in the store, even though it isn't a huge place. I have bought a bed recently and got a decent price compared to other place I researched. They can also get things quickly if not and stock. They have a big touch screen app you can browse an search for things. I almost don't like that because my wife is hard to get away from it. They have artsy wall clocks and things that present a problem for me with my wife. It looks like it is owned and operated by a couple. I only see one or the other of them working whenever have stopped in. They are both pretty friendly and the wife remembered my name the last time I was there.

One recurring theme in customer service workshops is that it is not price, product, or place. Those are ties. I had fellow in one class for a national retail chain tell us his nearest competitor is one mile away and they both represent the same company. He said we have same price, same product, and nearly same place. All I have that he does not have are my employees and service they require. My point is that it is not place, product or price that dictates good service. It is policy and personnel. Today I was buying new mattress from Mankato Mattress Man (Ben). We bumped into a store policy that I considered archaic, in appropriate, unnecessary and a barrier to my doing business with Mankato Mattress Man. Ben said I would like your business here are two things I can do. One is I can work out a work around so that this policy can be tabled. Two and I prefer this approach is that it will take me a minute or two to explain why this policy is in place. I said since I have been treated great to this point, since I want this new mattress, and easisest workaround seems to be explanation go that route. Ben did. I bought the mattress. So if you are looking for a new mattress you can probably find equal products, equal prices in Mankato market. Personnel and policies make Mankato Mattress Man a great last stop while mattress shopping.

After using several websites and going through the motion of making the purchase, only to find out they were out of stock, I was getting discouraged. When Mattress Barn's website offered to text message for inquiries, Amber was quick to not only say they had two pillows in stock, but verified it personally to make sure. I voiced my concern about arrival time before Christmas, but Amber stated someone would contact me the following day. After making the purchase, Laura was true to Amber's word and called me to provide shipping options and determine what worked best for me. Although the shipping cost was a little absurd to make it before Christmas, we did pick one that arrived the day after. Kudos to Amber and Laura for making this purchase, that once seemed hopeless for the holidays, a reality. Thank you!

Never kept us up to date on what is going on! Made several attempts by calling and messages to the person that sold us the furniture, never returned any messages or calls! Terrible communication with us. Once we signed paperwork to buy, then they don't careless about you!!!! Get a hold of someone? Just get date after date after date! Still no furniture!!! Will never shop there again!!!!! Finally get a hold of sales person and she has attitude towards me about how she can't help it didn't come on the day it was suppose to!!!! Owatonna's Slumberland was the 1st and only store we went to buy our furniture for our twin home. Phillip Perish helped us choose what we thought we wanted and it was delivered to us. After living with it for three weeks we decided that it was to big and we didn't feel it comfortable. I called and talked with Phillip Perish again and asked if there was something he could do to help us. He said "come on in and I will help you find something that you will be comfortable with" We went in and He met us with a smile and spent time helping us pick out a sofa,2 recliners and a guest chair all with accent pillows. He has made me a happy person again. I can't tell you how nice it was to be treated so nice and truly helped by this young man. He was incredibly knowledgeable and so nice, that I wish we could have made a purchase there. Unfortunately, our budget was just too low for the mattresses they offered. But we will certainly be back when we need something else for the home. Chuck's way of doing business made us want to support his store.
