Walking in, I was greeted…read moreby a bustling atmosphere, with the Guitar Center guru Nathan deeply engrossed in fixing a guitar. Despite interrupting him, expecting to be redirected, he attentively listened as I explained my skill level and preferences. Instead of pushing a sale, he presented me with several options, explaining the nuances of each instrument, spending no less than 30 min on the ins and outs and helping describe what I was going for. He could have easily pushed a 3k guitar on me and told me this will have me playing like Stevie Ray Vaughan in days. Instead he was patient and and showed me what I was looking for, I asked him to pretend he was buying for his brother "the one he likes" and show me the way. I ended up with a beautiful guitar and an amp that will grow with me, all thanks to his guidance. It was evident that he genuinely cared about ensuring I left with exactly what I wanted. Before checking out, the manager and other salespeople also made sure I had everything I needed, further enhancing my experience. What stood out most was the lack of pressure to buy. It was refreshing to be treated with such care and respect, especially in a retail environment. This fantastic experience, which began with Nathan, has made me a loyal Guitar Center customer.

Because the charges kept appearing, we eventually went back in person to cancel again. On top of that, the instructor who was supposedly teaching the lesson we were billed for wasn't even present. It's extremely frustrating to repeatedly request cancellation and still see charges appear on your card. At this point I am disputing the charges with my credit card company. If you sign up here, make sure you get written confirmation of any cancellation and monitor your statements closely.

Another music shop tipped me off that this place had several in stock, and upon calling I was delighted to discover that they did. Although they were initially asking over $100 more than some bigger guitar shops online, the manager agreed to match that price and I was able to take home a Yamaha Revstar! The shop itself is pretty cool. When you drive up on Main Street it appears there's a lot of construction and NOT a lot of parking, but this isn't the case - they have a spacious lot in the back. Enter through the black door and you'll find yourself emerging into the shop near a wall of ukuleles. The store basically appeared to have three areas. The first room had the strings, acoustic guitars, (maybe drums and keyboards, I'm not sure), etc. The second area seemed to have equipment for recording and maybe some effects. The third room was well worth traversing the labyrinthine layout for, because that's where they kept the electric guitars and pedals and guitar straps. Despite being a small business they have a great selection. The manager seemed super knowledgeable and helped me pick some extra strings to go with my new guitar at my request. One of the things that really stood out to me too is that they offer a 50% discount on set-up service when you buy a new guitar from them. Although the person who does it was out for the week, I fully intend to bring my guitar back in to get it set up for only 30-something dollars! (Although, it seemed to play great off the wall.) Overall this is a great local music shop and should be on every guitarist's radar.

Tone Shop is one of the best guitar stores in DFW, if not the country. The staff are really…read morefriendly and very helpful. Tone Shop stocks a wide variety of new and used instruments, as well as amps, pedals, etc. In terms of new guitars, you can expect to find Fender, Gibson, PRS, and Reverend - and maybe more - for electric. Taylor, Martin, Gibson, and more for acoustic. The cool thing though is they carry a range of instruments in these brands. You can buy anything from a Squier, Epiphone, or PRS SE up to a Core PRS or even a Custom Shop Fender or Gibson. And I don't just mean they have a single custom shop guitar on display, they have like a whole wall of high end Fenders and another for Gibsons. It's kind of fun to go in there and see all those amazing guitars. They've got guitars that cost hundreds and guitars that cost thousands. While they might not always have the same range of brands as the bigger store (no new Schecter, EBMM, etc.), they have an amazing selection within the brands they do carry. There's something for everyone. They have a decent selection of pedals, including Boss, Strymon, and more. A small selection of pickups too. I bought one of my favorite guitar straps from them. They've really got a lot of cool stuff! They also have sales periodically, and some great deals can be had! If you sell used gear to them or trade in toward something else, their prices aren't going to be as high as you could get selling it yourself online - but are fair for selling to a retail store. I think you can do a "sell in store" deal through Reverb with them too. I've been really happy with the guitars I've bought from them, and the shopping experience. They also do repairs, pickup swaps, etc. I'm pretty sure this location also offer PLEK. I've never done that myself, but I'm kind of curious about it and might take a guitar in go through the machine some day. Sometimes they host events at the store too. Overall I'd highly recommend Tone Shop in Addison.
