We did the Blackbeard's Cabin. This was their hardest room. We were able to steal the booty, just in the nick of time. Service was great. The room puzzles were challenging. The faculty was clean. Highly recommend. They do have a discount. Call in for it or find it in the tourist circular. They said they will be changing this room summer 2023. If you like pirates get out there as it won't be around much longer. read more

This was our first escape room experience and it was awesome! We had 4 people, ages 9, 16 and two adults and the Alice in Wonderland was perfect for our group! Our host, Brooke, was so encouraging and made the experience so much fun! Couldn't have asked for a better host! We actually managed to escape with only 4 seconds remaining. The clues were challenging and made you use your brain but with all four of us contributing to solve the puzzles, we were able to do it and it was a blast. We played The Holy Grail and escaped! Our family of 4 figured it out with about 10 minutes remaining. It was not too hard and not too easy. Our only disappointment was there was no Monty Python and no killer Rabbit. It was a lot of fun and we will do it again next time we're in Williamsburg all together. read more

Thought Room Escape was fun and enjoyable for the whole family. Puzzles were challenging and of course we had to use our three hints to complete the holy Grail challenge with three minutes to spare. This is a good place for a date or with friends. Staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms are well decorated, neat, and clean. I will definitely come again to try the other escape rooms. Short version: I loved it, so much fun! Long version: This was my first escape room, so I have nothing to compare it to. But, in my mind, I guess I always imagined escape rooms as being single rooms with simple trinkety puzzles, cheesy Halloween store props, and zero technology. But, this place blew those expectations away. My wife and I just did The Holy Grail room, and it was so much cooler and more immersive than I imagined it would be! There were actually two rooms, not one -- and filled with high-quality props, impressive technology, and very creative & challenging puzzles. The employee did have to give us a few hints over the course of the hour, but only when we requested them, and they were just right: Not solving anything for us, but merely nudging us in the right direction. There was so much adrenaline as we found the grail with only 5 seconds left on the clock to spare! It was truly like one of those movie scenes where they defuse the bomb only seconds before it goes off. Ridiculously fun. We'll definitely be back. read more

Would not recommend over the other Escape rooms in the area. Me and my Girlfriend have gone to multiple escape rooms and have had great times , we went to this room with 2 beginners as they were interested in the Wizard themed room. Our game master was Riley and we did not have a good experience, it seemed from the moment we came in she was very condescending and rude , the room itself relies on a lot of electronics to function and a LOT of time was wasted because the sensors weren't working (even tho we had solved the puzzle correctly) On top of that when we entered the room the GameMaster said that the room needs no outside knowledge to solve and "Legally we can't say this room is Harry Potter themed" (one of the puzzle answers is litterally from Harry Potter) On top of that when we asked for hints they were very unhelpful and did not add to the experience at all. When the game finished It immediately ended and she came in to solve the puzzles in front of us saying how we "wasted too much time" and while she was doing them THE SENSORS WERE STILL MESSING UP. Overall I had a terrible time. I wouldn't recommend anyone to come here over the other escape rooms in the area , even in the times we haven't won we've still had a good time and the GameMasters have always added to the experience. This was an extremely frustrating experience. In the past, escape room personnel have been available and friendly with clues -- especially with children. This time we received no answer many times when we asked, or extremely cryptic clues that were as hard to figure out as the puzzle itself. Won't be going back. This was my second escape room experience in which 7 of us attacked Bank Heist 2. We were a mixed group with one being their first time, one the third time and the rest like me, our second. Our host, Brandon, was amazing! So much fun, and he had us laughing even at ourselves! Everything was set up neat, clean and well decorated. It was intriguing and challenging with a LOT of math involved but really straight forward stuff requiring an eye for detail. We all had a GREAT time and almost solved it!! The Black Diamond was literally within our reach! Cannot wait to try another Escape Room and will definitely be trying another one at Room Escape Williamsburg when we are back in the area! read more

We went through the Holy Grail room. We had a great time with a group of people who we didn't know and everyone worked together to figure out the puzzles. The escape room itself was good. We were told that we could have our bags locked in an office while in the game. However, while we were in the game the employee went through my wallet and phone. We confronted the employee about it and he denied it. I found proof on my phone bill that he had been using my data during the time we were in the escape room. I was told there is now a sign posted that they won't hold onto your bags, if that's not true I would recommend holding onto your things or locking them in your car or better yet finding a different escape room. read more

We went to this room for the bank heist room. They did offer us a military discount but their starting price is high. Most other escape rooms are $25 and they are much nicer. Our game master, Jay, was kind of rude and sarcastic. I'm sure he was trying to be funny but it didn't make me laugh. The room, Bank Heist, in my opinion is sort of scattered. It did not follow a traditional progression like most rooms. At one point, there was a clue hidden in a drawer that was needed to even open that drawer. Hoping it was just misplaced. When we made a comment about it, Jay wrote "LOL" on the screen. He was not helpful with his clues, just derogatory with comments like, "well that's because you don't need that number." To me, if I ask for a clue, give it to me straight away. We had to wait as he typed (slowly) and as we read his sarcastic remarks before actually giving us the real clue which wasted our time. When we were exiting the room, I made a comment about the clues being scattered. Jay asked me, "Do you work here or do I?" I do appreciate the cleanliness of the space and the discount. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Try Colonial Escape instead. read more

YES YES YES! Williamsburg just got much MORE FUN AND INTRIGUING! Room Escape Williamsburg is our FAVORITE set of escape rooms hands down (and we do them whenever we travel) - a cut above the rest in terms of creativity, props, and flow. During our brief visit to Williamsburg, we did the Bank Heist, Wonderland, and Contagion, and they were distinct (from both each other and other escape rooms we have done), mind-bending, and tons of fun. Shannon, the business manager, and the two owner/designers have clearly poured their heart and soul into making Room Escape Williamsburg appeal to intergenerational families and groups big and small. I played with my 12-year old son and my 76-year old mother and there was plenty for everyone to do and enjoy and solve. There was no down time or lags or clues that didn't track well. The hints were prompt and helpful without giving us the answer. The gamemasters were always there to nudge us and encourage us. We just can't say how great an addition these adventures are to any Colonial Williamsburg outing. To list a few of the things we really, really liked: new technology and concepts; fun integration of digital items; math puzzles (Contagion and Bank Heist); lots of science (Contagion); being separated from one another for part of the game (Contagion); completely out-of-the-box experience (Wonderland); great props (all the rooms); right-brain and left-brain clues. We are excited to get back there later this year to try their new Holy Quail escape experience! read more
