The waiter was courteous, which I appreciated, but overall, the atmosphere did not really match what we expected from the menu or price point. The menu itself also was not very extensive, and since it was later in the evening, we decided to try the lamb chops. For $62, the lamb chops came with only three pieces on a bed of caramelized onions, and unfortunately, the cuts were very tough with a burnt exterior. For that price, I expected the meat to be more tender and better prepared. I also did not like that there was no option to substitute sides. We were limited to either a petite salad or fries only, so we went with the fries, but they were overcooked as well. The Bordelaise sauce was actually very good and helped save the dish a bit. I would not say the lamb chops were the worst, but for the price, I definitely expected more. We also ordered mashed potatoes and a Caesar salad. The Caesar salad was disappointing because it had almost no flavor; I have never had Caesar dressing taste like nothing. The mashed potatoes were okay, but they needed salt and pepper. Once I asked for seasoning and added it, they were better. Overall, I did not love how limited and non-accommodating the menu felt, especially with the pricing. This was our first visit, and while I was disappointed, I do feel like I may need to come back and try a few other items before completely writing PB Brasserie off as overhyped. It also was not very busy when we went, so I am not sure if it was just a bad night or if, because they are still new, they are working through some kinks. For now, I would say PB Brasserie has potential, but based on this first experience, the food and flexibility did not fully match the price point.
