I was pleasantly surprised with the baked goods here! Small but varied and interesting assortment…read more I particularly loved the chocolate tahini muffin - super fluffy and moist. They offer both sweet and savory items and nothing's too sweet. There's coffee and tea as well and other retail items. The space is very cute and they have a couple of tables outside. Staff were friendly and informative. I'd definitely recommend stopping by! .. and probably early since at least one item was already sold out by ~ 9.30am.

Now there are three. Vitsky Bakery has to be one of the best bakeries in the Hudson Valley. Anticipation makes the heart grow fonder or something. The standout was a sandwich made with Churchtown Dairy's Wendell cheese and strawberry jam, salty sweet goodness. The sourdough onion bialy was also very good. Peach danish with pastry cream, yeah, also up there. Shishito pepper danish, cardamom buns, there are all sorts of baked goods to try. The hallmarks, to me, seemed to be the softness of the bakes and the sensitive balance of contrasting flavors and textures. I don't know what kind of alchemy Ariel Yotive (owner/baker) is practicing but she creates cravable (is that even a word) items from simple ingredients. If you're ever in the bustling "city center" of Wassaic, check out Vitsky Bakery. There's plenty of outdoor seating and some very good carby items to eat.

I have been purchasing cookies and muffins from Horton House Scone Company for a couple of years…read morenow. Their cookies are delicious as are their newly available muffins. Healthy, low in calorie and filling! The customer service provided by the owners is excellent. I receive orders I place on line and in 2 days. Always arrives very fresh and well packed. If you haven't already, give them a try you'll be glad you did!

Recently diagnosed with gluten issues I was looking for the perfect dessert, breakfast, somewhat…read moretype of sweet that you can have any time of the day. BINGO, I came across Horton House Scone Company at my local health food store. So I bought 2 and they were SO GOOD that I had to buy directly from the company. They are so good that my 30 and 32 year old couldn't even tell that they were Vegan, gluten and dairy free. Most people associate gluten or dairy free foods (actually vegan for that matter too) to be tasteless and dry. Well, think again. If it was taken out of the packaging and put on a plate at a 5 star restaurant you wouldn't know that it had no gluten or dairy. For those with nut issues they are also nut free. I feel like I absolutely hit the jackpot. My entire family eats these scones. BTW the customer service is amazing too. They went on vacation and couldn't fill my order for a couple of days. They actually called to tell me that. Everything is just great about this company. My recommendations to try: Apricot, Cinnaswirl, Peanut Butter Chip are among my favorites. Just ordered another box and will try the blueberry bayou this time. If it's like the others, I will not be disappointed. Thank you for amazing and tasty gluten and dairy free options!

I go hiking and then check out reviews of local bakeries. It's what I do…read more I love morning glory muffins and have had them at quite a few places. Everyone seems to use pretty much the same recipe with some slight variations. The muffins I had here were weird. I don't know what that dominant spice they used is but it was really kind of awful. Weird is just the only word I can think of to describe it. And the muffin was not dense at all. It kind of fell apart when you bit into it. I took a "sour cherry" pastry home snd it was ok. The apricot scone was bleh. I think this place will be a skip in the future.

However, they were out of a lot of bakery items by noon, so I'd recommend getting there early on the weekends. I went for the Smoked salmon bagel, and I kid you not, it was a religious experience. By far, the best jalapeño cheddar bagel I've ever had. I don't know how they made it but angels most definitely had to be involved. Order it with the scallion cream cheese and pay the extra $0.50 for the capers, it's worth it. I don't live in the area, so I will pray to the food gods to present me with an opportunity to return & eat that sandwich again.
