My approach to selecting a contractor for my home to do a job that I have no experience with--get…read moreestimates from with as many companies as I can with good word-of-mouth reputations, and try to understand what the job entails. I'm never looking for the contractor that comes in with the lowest price, but rather the one whose presentation makes the most sense to me. When we had a small leak into our master bath ceiling, coming from a roof that's 20 years old, I talked to 4 different roofing contractors. Dannucci Roofing was one of them. When the owner, Joe Dannucci came by, he clearly communicated that he understood the problem, and presented a 2-step approach to me, short term and long term, that made the most sense. As busy as his company is, Joe got his 2-man "repair" crew to our home to fix the immediate leaking problem--and just in time as we were hit with torrential rain about a week later. Longterm, the plan is to have him re-shingle the rest of the roof in the Spring. I'm happy to say that we are leak-free now and, by Spring, will never have to worry about the roof leaking again for the duration of the time we own the house.

Not in the least surprised at with the results. Joe Dannucci came and assessed the scope of the scope of the job, submitted a proposal and scheduled the job after I agreed. The crew showed up and completed the job on the agreed date. The roof looks great and they did a good cleanup afterwards. I unconditionally recommend them.

Having to hire a slate roofer in the Allentown area (rather than relying on our old one in another…read morearea) turned out to be a re-education about the difficulty of finding a reputable and responsive roofer. In all, I made five phone calls to try to line up estimates on having slates replaced. Two never bothered to return the call. One called back 3-4 days later. Another called back 2 days later. (That guy, the Coplay, not Bensalem Romano, said he "doesn't do" estimates on slate replacements.) Just one called back that very day, and boy, did we luck out - J & M Roofing. We already knew the rough going price of slate replacement and J & M was right in the pocket. The boss, Greg, was a charming and down to earth guy and his son (he has two in the business with him) made a point of stopping by swiftly and taking pictures that were emailed to us to show exactly what needed replacing. Greg has been in the business a long time and knows how to ration his time. Quicker jobs like ours get reserved for days of iffy weather and weekends, and indeed, the following weekend he and one son and one helper showed up and got the job done in short order. The job was done just recently so I can't tell you about durability. I can tell you that we were happy with the speed of response, and that all the workers were personable and cleaned up afterwards decently. Throughout the process, Greg was a good and consistent communicator too. If you're looking for an experienced roofer - and one who knows slate - definitely include J & M Roofing in your considerations.

He didn't overcomplicate the project or load me up with roofing jargon like other contractors did. Their quote came in customized to our project and was built to have no large "extra material " surprises when the project closed. They were always communicative and friendly about the project. When they encountered a situation that was abnormal, they walked me through the issue and offered resolutions that would've cost them money. They seem to be stand-up craftsmen who want to do a good job at all costs and don't treat their customers like just another number. If you are going to invite anyone to do work on their home especially on your roof, they are the type to get.

Couldn't be any more of a nice guy but that isnt why I think hes literally the best guy for your job. Every other roofer wants to up sell and make you pay for things that you may not need or could be purchased for cheaper. That wasnt the case with me because my roof isnt old enough to need replacement but it was leaking to my surprise. In one area only and just when it downpours. Rather then selling me a new roof he came to my house inspected the area found a small hole in my flashing and fixed it. I asked how much and he said nothing. Took 5 mins. You really think im gonna call someone else when it comes time to replace. Definitely would recommend this company to anyone who wants an honest roofer.

Well, guess what? It's leaking. The "new" shingles are tearing off already and looked terrible to begin with. Additionally, these guys were totally unprofessional and rude when talking business.
