Specialties
Our beverage selection is what sets Ron’s Market apart. We carry an unusually large variety of beer, wine, spirits and other beverages, with choices you simply won’t find at most stores in the area. Our selection includes Maine craft beer, domestic and imported beer, hard cider, seltzers, wine, sake, spirits, ready-to-drink cocktails, energy drinks, sodas and more. We’re constantly bringing in new products and hard-to-find choices, so there’s always something different to discover.
Beyond beverages, Ron’s is a full neighborhood market offering groceries, snacks, everyday essentials, tobacco, lottery, prepared and grab-and-go foods, and an on-site bottle and can redemption center that operates from 9-5 daily.
History
Established in 1972.
The history of this neighborhood market goes back to 1925, when it was known as High Street Cash Market. Over the years the store changed hands and later became Ray’s Market.
In 1972, Ronald “Ron” Burton purchased Ray’s Market and renamed it Ron’s Market. The Ron’s Market name has remained a familiar part of Farmington ever since.
The business later passed to Jon and Lois Bubier, who continued operating Ron’s as a locally owned market. Their daughter Amanda grew up with the business as part of her family.
In April 2026, Amanda and her husband James Beane purchased Ron’s Market from her family. For us, keeping the store locally owned was important. A neighborhood market has operated here for more than 100 years, through different names, owners and generations, and we wanted that tradition to continue.
Today, Ron’s Market remains locally and family owned, serving Farmington from the same location and carrying forward a history that began with High Street Cash Market in 1925.
Meet the Business Owner: James B.
Ron's Market has been locally owned since 1925. Amanda's parents owned the store before us, and when it came time for them to step away, we made the decision to purchase it and keep it in the family. We felt strongly that keeping Ron's locally owned was the best thing for our community. More than 100 years after the store began, we're proud to carry that tradition forward.
