Not only did she find the cut of pork butt I was looking for she cut it to the weight that I ideally wanted! I loved butcher shops - this is the classic service I grew up with. It's not a huge location, however, they have so many great products in this store. Everything is organized, clean and well labeled. The other product I was looking for was locally made "The Good Crust" pizza crust mix and they had it!! I bought two boxes. At the register they had locally grown bagged potatoes, so I grabbed a bag to have with our roast pork. When I am in the area, I will definitely stop by again. Don't drive past this place without checking it out!

We have been loyal fans of his food, for decades, when he ran his Beale St. BBQ restaurant in Bath, which sadly no longer exists. He has a a FB page with information about pop up openings - Follow them closely and try to arrive at the beginning of his opening, he sells out FAST! It's a take out spot in Fairfield with plenty of parking given the fact people are picking up their food and leaving. We love everything he serves! literally everything on the menu! St. Louis Ribs, Brisket, Pork Shoulder, Mac and Cheese, Cabbage/Carrot side, Cornbread. So comforting and so delicious. We highly recommend stopping by when he is open.

If you're passing by this area, you absolutely have to stop by for a quick bite to eat. The meat is smoked right next to the stand and is first come first serve. He offered several selections of drinks and sides, but you have to try a side of slaw and the BBQ sandwich! The slaw had a nice sweetness to it, and I was impressed. The mac & cheese was fair, it just wasn't my normal style, but the BBQ made up for it. Obviously fresh and perfectly smoked. I don't think we could've stopped by the stand on a more beautiful, perfect day! Enjoy sitting outdoors by the food stand under a clean and well covered picnic area. The desserts were also fantastic and I recommend the key lime pie when it's available.

They also have pizza dough if you want to make your own, and they have various sandwiches and pizzas available. They are open long hours, which is nice if you want something at an odd time. We got the pepperoni stuffed breadsticks which were really great! (the only down side is it took them 30 minutes to make them, but it was near closing so maybe that's why). We had a ton of different desserts (blueberry pie, cookies, brownies, whoopie pies, etc), which were all good and really tasted homemade. They also have a few basic grocery supplies for sale in the coolers. If I lived on this block, I'd be in this place every day. We were there later in the evening but got a parking spot right in front. The neighborhood doesn't look to be the greatest but we had no problems.

They don't take reservations, and they don't have a waitlist you can join before arriving -- which almost deterred us since we'd been driving all day and the hangry monsters were in full effect. But we risked it and actually got seated right away. Service was great -- friendly and attentive, there just enough and exactly when you needed it. The cocktails were pretty good. I had the Proper Manhattan (Woodford Reserve whiskey, sweet vermouth, and Woodford Reserve chocolate bitters, garnished with a Luxardo maraschino cherry and orange wedge) and the Proper Pig (Crown Maple bourbon and amaretto, garnished with an orange slice and bacon). My dinner was great -- I opted for the Veggie Wedgie (house-made veggie black bean burger with fontina cheese, avocado, shredded lettuce, red onion, tomato, and a citrus chipotle aioli, served on a brioche bun), and I swapped the fries for a side salad. I also added on some mac and cheese, because you gotta be bad sometimes ;) I'd order all of it again! The others got the fried fish and fried shrimp plates and weren't as enthusiastic as I was -- they said the breading was a bit too thick. Overall, it was good, and I'd hit it up again if I'm ever back in town.

Location - Great thing about their location is there are plenty of places to kill time while waiting for your table - local shops or Waterville Creates. We were there on a Saturday and we arrived around 2:30 for an late lunch/early dinner. To our surprise, there was a 25 minute wait! It's a popular family restaurant as well. It's a lot bigger inside than it seems from the outside. When you walk in, there are mostly high tables and a long bar with seating. Walk past the bar and on the right is a dining area with a lot more tables. We had 2 kids and 4 adults and we had plenty of room at a center table. There were booths along the wall. Our server was so great. So patient, and kind. She was great. She checked in regularly, our drinks never went dry. The food was excellent. We had the food for take out during the pandemic and thought it was ok. Having it in the restaurant - HUGE difference. I got the cheese curd burger without the top bun.
