HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I took my behind the wheel classes here and they are AMAZING!…read more At my first lesson, I didn't know a single thing about driving, but my instructor Kristi was very patient and very good at teaching me what to do. I was taught how to turn the steering wheel, use turn signals, using the brakes and accelerator, changing lanes, merging lanes, deal with traffic circles, speed limit, and so much more! I went from driving with no accelerator around my neighborhood to driving with the accelerator in the main roads! Great progress :) Second lesson was with Shelby, who was very good as well! She showed me DMV routes, taught me how to reverse in a straight line, lane changes when there was a bike lane present, and had me practicing what I needed to practice most. I am now very good at turning, performing the task of a U-Turn, changing lanes, and looking out for bikers in bike lanes. My last instructor was Christian, who was excellent! Very verbal in a very good way. He repeated things that were important so I could remember him saying those things. He taught me how to look ahead at all times, he taught me how to park in the mall parking lot, and he really worked on straight parking! Thanks to him, I can park at many places and I'm able to park along the curb without ever hitting it! Overall, every instructor I had were excellent! They were able to teach me with patience, tips, and of course, kindness and encouragement! Very informative and they prepare you VERY WELL for the DMV behind-the-wheel test!

The instructor even fulfilled my request to have them take my kid on the freeway, which is just an optional part of the class. Naweed was my child's instructor and he was always early to class, plus he was always available when I had a question. We got a great deal. I would highly recommend this school over all other schools I've encountered in the area.

NOTE: I took this behind the wheel class back in 2004, things might be different?…read moreMaybe if I had a different instructor it would have been better. I had Reggie, he's a lot older than you think for being a driving instructor. He basically wasn't that friendly, yelled a lot and was hypocritical. He told me to speed up (while I was driving exactly 65 on the freeway) then when I sped up to 70 he yelled at me saying, "Why are you driving that fast where do you have to go?!" He told me to make a right turn up ahead and I was trying to but there was a car in front of me. I had to move slowly because I was so new at driving I didn't know if I was going to hit the car or not. I turned the corner after he was urging me to do so and ran over the curb a little. He was furious and yelled at me some more saying "WHY DID YOU HIT THE CURB? YOU WANT TO HURT SOMEONE?" first of all thanks for yelling at your NEW DRIVER (student) instead of teaching. after that I never went back and chose a driving school in Pleasanton.

I didn't realize how complex the process was and all the steps we needed to take with DMV first and she was so kind to answer all of my questions and walk me through the processes. This was his first time being behind the wheel and Ryan was able to explain and show him how to drive and what to expect. They understand working around school, sports, and the crazy schedules some families have. Our daughter loved her lessons with Hal. She said he gave her a lot of great pointers and very solid advice. She said he often used a humorous approach so she always felt at ease with him ( Dad jokes). The instructors email a driving lesson report, so we know what skills we should work on, and what was done well. I'm impressed that she applied what she learned immediately after only one lesson. Ex "Hal would not have approved of your right hand turns, Mom." There was an issue with her final lesson (not with Hal). She was not given enough drive time, she hadn't driven near the DMV, and she wasn't feeling prepared to take her test. I called to see what our options were, and I can tell you that they have wonderful customer service. Our concerns were addressed, they were very accommodating, and our daughter passed her test. 5 stars all the way, everyday! Our friends raved about Julie, but she was all booked up. My shy kid thinks the world of Hal, and we as parents think Coastline is a wonderful driving school. Thank you! Tip: Call them far in advance, they book up quickly.

Something has definitely changed over the past 10 years. My child was not as prepared. My husband and I had to do most of the training. We were expecting A-Plaza to teach/guide my child in the following skills: parallel parking, reversing, etc. Basics- we were hoping they would reinforce what we were also teaching. My child stated they did not help with those skills. My child was to drive wherever the instructor suggested- straight driving. Another note- instructors would be late as well. It looks like many others have a great experience- unfortunately, we're not one of them.

During our…read moreinitial conversation, everything was explained to us, and we were told that the fee included both the online driver's education course and the behind the wheel training after she obtained her permit. The only additional cost would be the DMV fees. We paid on a Saturday via Zelle, and the representative provided us with a website to begin the online training. When we attempted to access the site, it would not work. We contacted him immediately, and he initially told us the problem was with our computer and suggested we try using our phone. We did, but the website still did not work. He then told us he would need to check with their IT department and that we would have to wait until Monday. While we were disappointed, we understood that technical issues can happen and agreed to wait. The next day, however, he called us back and completely changed the story. He told us we needed to find another website to complete the online training and pay for it ourselves. We reminded him that we had specifically confirmed that the online training was included in the fee we had already paid. He then claimed it was not included. After we challenged that statement, he suggested that we pay a third party for the training and that he would reimburse us later. At that point, the situation felt very suspicious. In less than 24 hours, the explanation had changed multiple times. First, the online training was included. Then it wasn't. Then we were expected to pay another company and trust that we would be reimbursed later. Because of these inconsistencies, we requested a full refund. He said he would forward our information to the office and that the refund would be processed on Monday. Since we had paid him directly through Zelle over the weekend, we insisted that he return the money immediately. After considerable back and forth, he finally refunded the payment. Based on our experience, I would not trust this company. The information we were given changed several times, and what was promised at the time of payment was not what we were later told. The entire experience felt unprofessional and raised serious concerns about their reliability.
