I had my first born drive with A-Plaza more than 10 years ago. My son and I felt they prepared him. Here we are today and since we had a great experience with them before we thought we'd schedule APlaza for my other child. Something has definitely changed over the past 10 years. My child was not as prepared. My husband and I had to do most of the training. We were expecting A-Plaza to teach/guide my child in the following skills: parallel parking, reversing, etc. Basics- we were hoping they would reinforce what we were also teaching. My child stated they did not help with those skills. My child was to drive wherever the instructor suggested- straight driving. Another note- instructors would be late as well. It looks like many others have a great experience- unfortunately, we're not one of them. read more

You get what you pay for. While the driving lessons are the lowest in the area price wise, after paying for 6 hr of behind the wheel training for my daughter, she was never taken on the freeway nor was she taught basics about how a vehicle works: turning lights, high beams, hazards, etc. read more

My daughter had zero behind the wheel training but after the 8 hr driving session & dmv package .. she has now her driver's license!!! I don't have the time or patience to teach my kid how to drive , so I trusted A-Plaza to do it . I'm sooo glad i did!! Highly recommend them !!! read more

We had Omar as our instructor. He was very flexible and responsive. The company did not charge more to pick up and drop off. He was willing to pick up m teenager from school and drop him off at home. He asked me to text him when my son passed! He did on his first try. Thank you. read more

A-Plaza Driving School - Passed my DMV actual driving exam. - Driving Schools Near Me - Hayward, California

My driving instructor Omar was incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and supportive. Throughout each lesson, I felt more confident and received good feedback for improvement. With his calm demeanor and professional guidance, I felt prepared for my driving test and passed on my first try! read more

Different Instructors with different cars and different way of teachings. Can't recommend it for first time drivers like me. No check list of what to teach students and no endorsements of your progress between instructors (if you'll get different instructors which is most likely) Appreciated the lessons but teachings doesn't have structures read more

Props to Omar! Best driving instructor I've ever had! Helped me pass my driving test in Stoneridge DMV and is a very understanding and patient man! read more

After trying to avoid getting my license for 15 years, I've decided enough is enough! I decided to use this driving service after running my friend's car up the curb and into some plants. He yelled, cursed, and screamed. I'm glad no one was around because they would have called the cops on him. I have never seen my friend lose it until I nearly destroyed his car. Marco picked me up at my house and we drove around San Leandro from 4pm to 6 pm. It costs $95 for two hours. He would rather you pay in cash than check or credit card. Anyway, Marco is pretty patient and gave me some good tips. There were times we could have died, but he took control of my steering wheel and used the emergency brake many times. The only thing I didn't like is using the hand-over-hand technique. It got way too technical for me. I also wished he had a sign on the side and the back of his car that says "Student Driver." Many people honked at me and cut me off. It made me incredibly nervous how I was ticking off the entire city of San Leandro. This is one of the cheapest places I've found on Yelp. Most places go for $150 for two hours. read more

The most unreliable business, Be aware! This is not a review of the quality of their driving lessons because we did not get to that point. I made 2 appointments with Glen on Friday, for the upcoming Monday and Wednesday. On Sunday evening, he called me & let us know thatthe instructor would not be available on Monday, and offered a new slot with another instructor at 10am on Tuesday. We were understanding and told him that emergency happens. And then, at 9:39am on Tuesday (our appointment was at 10am), he called again and told us the "new" instructor cannot make it, and offered no other alternatives. When asked about Wednesday, he said he cannot guarantee. read more

Glen is such a kind and understanding person. My son had Tom as his instructor and he was very patient and had great tips to share. We were definitely not treated as a number but as a person. I loved the personal experience. I really enjoyed the fact that they can pick up your child from school for a driving hours. I'll be coming back for the next kid. read more

After 2 years of driving lessons, I'd say this is got to be one of the best driving schools I've ever been in. Tom and the staff were really humbled and appreciative. I'd failed 4 times and passed it on my 5th try. Super worth it and fascinating experience. I'd like to thank you guys for all of the lessons that I've ever took and the chats that we had while doing lessons. Definitely recommend this School. Thank you guys! read more

Highly recommend this driving school. Thomas the instructor taught my daughter how to drive. Thomas helped my daughter with being confident in driving. According to my daughter, he made an impact in their time together. My daughter passed on her first try. Glen always made sure to confirm the day before. The price for the lessons were reasonable and affordable. read more

The best driving school EVER !!! I had tried a few different driving schools in the past years to help me learn how to drive and NONE of them compare to this place. Thomas really helps you and teaches you how to drive well. He is the best driving teacher. Because of him I now have my drivers license ! It is literally guaranteed you will pass your test with the help of this driving school & especially Thomas. Thank you Thomas !!! read more

This review is long overdue. My instructor, Mr Tom, was patient and professional. He helped me overcome my fear of changing lanes. I was even confident enough to drive on the freeway! Also as someone who's busy all the time, Mr Glenn was awesome in making sure my schedule worked with my instructor. He even scheduled my DMV test appointment and all I had to do was just go there for my driving test. Thank you for helping me pass my test and for making it easier to schedule. God bless. I would definitely recommend this school! read more

Went for court order traffic school and it was okay. The class itself was informational, I learned a thing or two. read more

I went to this driving school when I was 17. I forget the name of my instructor, but he he was from the Czech Republic, and he said he taught Spanish and Gym at a local high school. What a full life he must lead. He picked me up in this Geo, and we started driving around. He kept calling me his baby. "Turn left my little baby. Make a U-turn now baby." First we drove through Hayward, and I was turning left and right and being his little baby. Then he had me pull into a Jack in the Box and turn off the engine. He went inside and got some food and started eating it in the car, he didn't offer me food! Maybe he thought I should lose some weight. Haha I SHOULD. Then he had me drive some more left and right and straight ahead, little baby, and then we pulled into the Hayward Post Office. He grabbed some mail from the glove box and walked it inside! Dude. I was running his fucking errands. But that's actually genius! I want to work at a driving school! Then later he pointed for me to turn, and the band aid on his index finger flew off into my lap, then he grabbed it off my lap, which basically meant he half way grabbed my crotch to get it, and was all aplogetic. Gross dude. As I recall a couple weekends at this school didn't cost me much more than $50, although this was years ago. It's probably still hella cheap. Without my Czech man, I probably wouldn't be driving today. At least not quite in the manner that I do. Consider this place recommended. read more

My daughter took her 2nd driving lesson with A-1 because the first company sucked!!!! I drove along in the backseat and I was impressed.....her previous teacher let her drive while talking on the cell phone the entire time....not A-1, they actually taught!!!! Very professional, friendly and I would recommend to everyone! A+ in my book! read more

Greg and Tom we're awesome thank you so much for helping my daughter get her license. Greg was so knowledgeable and was able to advice the best path and how soon a test should be booked. Tom was engaging and guided her through her lessons - she told me they had great worldly conversations! Needless to say she passed first time so a huge thank you read more

Both of my children received lessons from A Plaza driving school. The instructors were very nice and showed up on time to pick my kids up. The pricing is extremely fair and they do not try to milk you for extra lessons. They will tell you how many lessons they feel your child needs after the initial lesson and evaluation. They treat everyone on an individual basis so there's no quota that they are trying to make. They are very honest which I really appreciate. My kids said that the instructors were helpful and very calm and nice. My daughter took her lesson during the pandemic and said they took a lot of precautions to ensure the car was clean and sanitized. Both of my kids felt more confident in their driving and felt the instructors were very fair in the grading and made good recommendations. My son passed his driving test on the very first time And said he felt that his instructor properly prepared him. Due to the pandemic my daughter has yet to take her driving test but feels very confident from the instruction she received. I would absolutely recommend this driving school. read more

Highly recommend this place if you plan to have a driving lesson. My daughter had her lessons for couple of days before she took her driving test. Her instructor took her to the dmv and really pin point of what they will ask her to do. He advised her to be a defensive driver. She passed her driving test on first try. read more

Stay away from this place horrible service I literally got stopped by the police while learning because the car was not up to date and the car is in really bad condition there's not even a handle on the inside of the driver's door so you have to open it from the outside additionally the instructor got there an hour late almost every time read more

This school is amazing and I got my license from first try! All thanks to Tom for being a great instructor and teaching me all the skills I need to become a defensive driver read more

I am so happy that I took a class from here & got my license. I took a class from two other driving school before & they taught me nothing, it was just a waste of money. But when I took my first class with Tom, he made me feel so confident & gave me great tips which helped me to pass the exam. Thank you my instructor Tom(Thomas) & A Plaza driving school. read more

Yeah, the Czech, Spanish speaking instructor's name is Tom. He's a pretty nice and patient, but what I didn't like was how he forgets the days to pick me up and making me drive all the way to Pleasanton just to use the bathroom. read more

A-Plaza Driving School offers a Traffic School course that can be used to keep certain violations off your driver's-license and insurance records. Course times are conveniently scheduled so that you can do the six hours all on one day (several different days are offered through the month) or three hours on two different days. Glen Babel, who runs the school, is the epitome of efficiency and courtesy. He is very flexible in making arrangements that will fit the student's schedule. All paper work is promptly filled out and is now submitted electronically to the respective courts. The Traffic School course is down-to-earth and practical. There is ample class participation. I was never bored, but got a thorough review of traffic laws, particularly new laws pertaining to child seats, bicycle lanes, and violations that can cost up to $1,000. The course would be quite useful as well to anyone preparing to take the written license examination. One pleasant characteristic of Glen Babel's presentations is that he views himself as a driver just like the students in the class rather than as an agent of the police. He points out the pitfalls that can catch up even well-motivated drivers in an increasingly-complex and overwhelming code of vehicle laws. Some people prefer online courses now, but I find this in-person Traffic School superior and more informative. In addition, you get the course completed in a day instead of having to come back over and over again over many days to complete a computer course. read more

A big thank you to instructor Thomas & A Plaza Driving School. My wife passed her driving test as her instructor was the best. She took class from other driving school before taking class from here. But she didn't learn anything from other driving school. When she took her first class from Thomas I can see her so confident in driving. In just three classes Thomas made her a very good driver. Keep it up your good work A Plaza driving school. read more
