BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU PAY!!!! I thought I was paying for a $25 online course for my son to complete so he would be prepared to take the written part of the driving test. It started at $60 but then they offer you a discount to get it for $25 if you complete everything fast enough. I was hurrying to put my credit card number in etc. and right when I was finished, I looked it over before I submitted and they had changed it to a $809 driving package that included the original online course and some driving lessons. That is a very dishonest way to do business. Also, I was going to pay for a couple driving classes AFTER he passed the exam but now I will not use this company for anything. read more

I am very pleased with the instructor, it was my first driving experience and during the very first lesson we drove on big roads and everything was very calm and professional. I came to the second lesson after the experience of an accident when I was learning to drive with a member of my family, and again the instructor did everything very competently and by the end of the lesson I again felt confident behind the wheel. I would give the instructor all 10 stars. Why did I give 4 stars? There is indeed a small problem with the implementation of lessons. In my case, it was important that the instructor was Russian-speaking, and this was agreed upon in advance. But when it was time to book a lesson, it turned out that in my area there is only 1, he is always busy. So my first lesson took place a month after buying the lessons, and the second - a month after the first. The third, i will probably have to take with an English-speaking instructor. So yes, I advise you to immediately clarify how many instructors there are and what their workload is in your area. Otherwise, everything is fine, polite staff, a good, clear website. read more

AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL experience! I paid a lot of money for 6 hours lesson (which was completed) + the DMV Road Test For the DMV road test you have to call to book. They booked me with the only instructor available, I received the email confirming that it was booked. It sounds all great right? Until the day of the test where the instructor DIDN'T SHOW UP. I called Coastline to understand what was happening, if they could at least send someone else so I wouldn't miss my test. They couldn't do anything for me, BLAMING ME saying that I canceled my own DMV road test. Like what??????? Why I would invest so many hours and money with Coastline and suddenly cancel the most important day, which was the last one????? I didn't receive ANY cancelation confirmation, any refund for the "cancelation", any warning, absolutely nothing. Coastline made me miss my drive test that was booked a couple months in advance. They offered to reschedule the appointment, and I had to fight for a refund instead. BOOK WITH ANOTHER COMPANY! read more

Many moms and dads that I trust recommended coastline, so I gave them a call. They are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable on the phone. They understand working around school, sports, and the crazy schedules some families have. Our daughter loved her lessons with Hal. She said he gave her a lot of great pointers and very solid advice. She said he often used a humorous approach so she always felt at ease with him ( Dad jokes). The instructors email a driving lesson report, so we know what skills we should work on, and what was done well. I'm impressed that she applied what she learned immediately after only one lesson. Ex "Hal would not have approved of your right hand turns, Mom." There was an issue with her final lesson (not with Hal). She was not given enough drive time, she hadn't driven near the DMV, and she wasn't feeling prepared to take her test. I called to see what our options were, and I can tell you that they have wonderful customer service. Our concerns were addressed, they were very accommodating, and our daughter passed her test. 5 stars all the way, everyday! Our friends raved about Julie, but she was all booked up. My shy kid thinks the world of Hal, and we as parents think Coastline is a wonderful driving school. Thank you! Tip: Call them far in advance, they book up quickly. read more

My son took lessons from Coastline he is an adult and relearning to drive after being out of the country for 15 years. Coastline was on time instructors were very helpful and gave excellent feedback. My daughter took driving lessons with Bob and he was GREAT! He was professional and thorough. He gave her additional tips to help her do well on her actual driving test. She passed on her first try. My daughter had 4 behind the wheel lessons with Greg and thought he was great. He knows a lot about what the DMV testers look for and teaches things that I wouldn't have known to mention. We appreciated that he was very frank with her and tells her what he thinks. During her second lesson he told her that he didn't feel that she had progressed enough and that she needed to spend more time practicing with her parents. She really took this to heart and by her third lesson she had improved enough that he told her she would pass the test. She did pass the DMV driving test on her first try and I have no doubt that we have Greg to thank for it. Or wait, this is my little girl I should say we have no one but Greg to blame for it. I will definitely return to Greg when my son is learning to drive. read more

My teen daughter took behind-the-wheel lessons from Kathy at Amador Valley Driving School. My daughter was very nervous, not really looking forward to driving at all, but by the end of her first lesson with Kathy she was fully on board! Kathy has many years of drivers ed experience and it shows. She's very calm, knowledgeable, gives great corrections and tips, is friendly with the kids without being overboard or a distraction. A total confidence booster. My daughter loved having Kathy as her instructor, and proudly passed her DMV driving test on her first attempt -- due in no small part to Kathy's thoroughness, important reminders for test day, and her "You can do it!" encouragement. I would recommend Kathy and AVDS without hesitation, especially if you have a hesitant and nervous teen driver. read more

my son has taken 3 behind the wheel driving lessons with Greg so far. Greg is great at what he does. Knowledgeable, patient and accommodating to our needs. We have also spoke regarding the incident stated in my previous review. Perhaps there were some misunderstanding. It is not easy to command total control in a classroom full of teenagers and stay calm. My opinion of this business has definitely changed for the good. We are glad to be doing business with them. read more

Don't sign your kid up for the online course because they make it very difficult to get the knowledge that one needs. If you don't pass a lesson test you have to go back and do that whole 2 hour lesson over again. Also the lady who reads the lesson also is British and makes a lot of mistakes. Overall, I, as a student did not enjoy or learn much out of the online program. read more
