I've have had Ron's automotive as my mechanic along with Brian for over 30 years. I keep going because of the service excellence. They are honest, respectful and have performed miracles with my vintage and newer vehicles i've owned through the years. If you want quality workmanship Ron is your best choice . Ron's is conveniently located in Roslindale center and reasonably priced busines BUT the man in charge is constantly overworked and has a hard time keeping appointments. Perhaps with well intentions he says yes to your requests but then can't fulfill them. This has happened multiple times and I felt like he was yanking my chain. I'm done going there. read more

My boyfriend has been going there for 10 years. I've been going there for 5. It's a small business. Ron is the owner and Brian works with him. Both GREAT people. They do everything... Oil change, tires, batteries, engine problem, etc. Ron is very honest, charges a reasonable price and does things fast with care. Before he does the work he calls to let you know the problem and how much it would be. I would give more stars if I could!!! read more

Ron's Automotive - Auto Repair Near Me - Roslindale, Massachusetts

I was in need of new brakes and have heard good things about Ron's so one morning I stopped by. They only had after market brakes but the man assured me they were good. So I trusted him which I usually have a hard time doing at auto shops. I dropped off my car in the morning and later, they called me to tell me it was ready. I came. I paid. I left. Though the man who fixed my car said there was a wheel bearing noise when he test drove it. Since my car is still under warranty, I brought it to my dealer and he was right! They fixed it. Bada boom Bada bing. I will 100% be back. Great service. Quick and painless. read more

Ron is fantastic! He's always been honest and never tries to up sell you. The best example is when I brought my car in a few years ago because a different mechanic said I needed a new alternator. Ron looked at it and said my alternator could last another year or two and told me what to look out for in the future. I've been going to him for over 5 years and even though I've moved, I still drive the 40 mins to get my car fixed by him because it's so hard to find a trustworthy mechanic! read more

I was very disappointed with their job. I went for general inspection he charged me $40 ans found that there was the engine light showing, so je let me know that the matter was very serious and for that I should go and bring at least $500.00 for that to be fixed. 2 days mater the guys from Valvoline discovered that it was only the gas cover that was,nt well closed. They did it and till today no more engine light. And these guys didnt charge me. It was free for the inspections. read more

I came to Ron with a 73 Charger that was having a hard time running. I've taken cars here in the past and he does good work, but not without the attitude to go with it. This last time was no exception to the attitude, however he told me he was too busy to help me. When he didn't offer me another chance to bring the car by, I asked him for a referal to which I was told "he didn't know of any shops who would want to take that on". Long story short, after coming to him since I start driving almost a decade ago, this was the last straw. I'm not saying he won't do good work for you, but his heart isn't in it anymore. It's just a business now. If anyone has any referals for other shops I could bring my Charger to, I'd really appreicate it. read more

Ron has been my neighborhood mechanic for six years. He's extremely honest and will give you all available options, not just the most expensive one. He'll also suggest preventative care to keep you on the road. As a woman, I'm always on guard when dealing with car repairs. Ron makes the entire process stress-free and affordable. Definitely, call him. read more

Ron and Carlos are great. Just got my brake pads changed and an oil change this morning. Got my car back within an hour. Excellent service and they were very nice. Got a great price on the service compared to the quote my dealership service center gave me. Would recommend this place to anyone in the area needing car services done. Cute shop dog laying around too. read more

I walked into Ron's place and said, "I'm here because you're the best rated on Yelp!" He and his crew didn't disappoint. I woke up this morning with a flat tire and swung over to Ron's for a quick fix. He didn't hesitate to peel one of his guys away to address my issue, so that I could be on the road. Carlos, a hilarious and attentive technician/mechanic, repaired the tire with a side of commentary about current events - it made the 15-minutes I was there fly by. Ron's Automotive will be my neighborhood mechanic - I'm sold. Give them a try. read more

Ron's Automotive is everything you want in a business partner, especially for automotive work: knowledgeable, efficient, honest, and fair. I've taken two different cars in for a variety of issues (tires, brakes, batteries, etc.) over the years, and every time Ron's has delivered 100% on quality, time, and price. Strongly recommend! read more

As usual great job fixing my car ! Brought car in for noise in front ?! Actually it was my rear brakes. I also had an oil lube filter and tire rotation. After test driving my car Ron called to let me know it was the rear brakes and to make sure I wanted to move forward which I did!! He also pointed out another problem I was having with With the rear end. You have to like a mechanic that'll call you and tell you what needs to be fixed right away and what can wait. I had them fix everything at a reasonable price and my car is great now. Anyone looking for a regular mechanic to take their car to whenever they have problems would be crazy not to go to Ron's! Good bunch of guys. Also work is done in a timely manner at a fair price. These guys never disappoint and it won't cost you an arm and a leg read more

I was recommended to Ron 15 years ago. My friend had an old hoopie, and Ron kept it alive for years. So I began using Ron also. I absolutely trust Ron, and can always depend upon prompt service, flexibility, very fair prices, great car advice, honesty and personal care. I wouldn't consider using another auto service shop. It's the best I've evr found, and I've been driving for 50 years. read more

Twice in the past two months, Ron has been able to squeeze me in at the last minute and get my company car back on the road quickly. The first time was on a Saturday. I wandered in with a valve from the Volvo dealer and a headlight bulb. Ron worked me into their rotation that day and only charged me $25 to install the valve and replace the headlight! Friday night, as I was driving to an appointment, my car began to leak oil, and not a small leak either. I barely had enough time to pull over. I called Ron and asked if I could have it towed to his shop, and he was totally agreeable. He looked at the car on Saturday, gave me an estimate and had the car back on the road for me by Monday afternoon. This shop is no frills and no-nonsense. Ron does what he says he's going to do and is fast, competent and affordable. read more

Honest, no BS. Ron's a little rough around the edges, but if you're trying to keep a shitty old car roadworthy, he's your guy.

We've only used Ron once so far (bad brake calipers), but he was nothing but professional, honest, and gave an honest, accurate quote. I highly recommend him! read more

Ron is the man, he seriously gives a shit about your business and will not dick you around. I've brought my busted ass Subaru to Ron countless times, he's done the: timing belt, brakes, exhaust, tune up, oil change, starter, alternator, battery, poltergeist type electrical system freaky shit - almost everything I've needed. And, if he knows he can't get to it, or can't get the part, or doesn't have the right diagnostic tool - he will send you in the right direction. This is a small shop with only 1 or 2 mechanics on duty and you should call ahead if you can. He's also really fair on pricing, as a FYI my whole family goes to Ron for general maintenance. read more

I've taken my car to Ron a few times now, and I have been incredibly impressed with the service. He's always straightforward and honest about my car's many issues, and service has been very fast. Prices are also fantastic; we've comparison shopped on several specific services and Ron comes out ahead each time. There have been several instances where he's fixed something quickly and sent me home without paying a dime. How often does that happen? I can't recommend this place enough. read more

Ron's Automotive in Roslindale came highly recommended. Compared to other shops (that shall remain nameless) they did not overcharge. I saved a chunk of money on a recent job. They took me the day I called, and though I showed up early to pick up the car, it was ready and done. I am so greatful and will continue to go to them. read more

I'm tempted to give 1 star - but here's my tale. I've been to Ron's twice. Once was a stellar visit. My car wouldn't start and I got Ron to come to my house, jump the car and take it in for the day. Problem was fixed quickly and for not a lot of money. Had the oil changed while it was in the shop. The second time, I came for an oil change - thought it'd be good to have a Rozzie business for car care. Asked for the tires to be rotated as well. I get the car back, and there's a bit of a shimmy in my steering wheel. I figure the newly rotated tires need to settle in or something. After a little while, nothing had settled, and I was having a separate issue and decided to take the car to another shop. Here's the long story short: The lug nuts on one wheel had been over-tightened so badly that it took almost an hour to get the wheel off. However, FTW, I was told (and was shown) that the tire had a area on it that had worn down THROUGH the steel belts. Total safety hazard. Made me very angry that I was driving myself and others around in this wildly unsafe manner. Maybe whoever worked on my car that day (I didn't drop it off with Ron) had a bad day, but it almost made my day a little worse, should I have gotten a flat and had a wheel where the lug nuts were never going to come off. Take it for what it's worth... read more

My vehicle was making a horrible noise when I brought it in and he gave it back to me with the same noise. He even said that I could bring it back in 3-4 weeks to look into it. It didn't last 3-4 weeks. It lasted a few days until I heard a bang on the HIGHWAY and then I held on for dear life. I called Ron and he said that he would not give me a free estimate to fix it. No customer should ever be sent on his/her way with an unsafe vehicle. Any good mechanic should have known that there was a serious safety issue with my vehicle. read more

Ron's is by far the best shop I've gone to in the city. I've been taking my car here for about 3 years and my only regret is that I didn't do so sooner. They're efficient, fair and honest. They've walked me through multiple repair options and always find a reasonable quote. Other shops in the area were going to charge me $1,500 for a tiny exhaust leak, Ron's did it for less than $600. I've never felt pressured to make repairs, and always have a clear picture about what needs to happen. read more

Finally found my mechanic in the city. Ron and his crew are solid. No gimmicks just quality.

As the driver of an old Chevy truck, I have met my fair share of mechanics over the years. Ron's an excellent guy, does very good work, and charges very fairly for the quality he provides. read more

Very honest and reasonable pricing. I drive an 02 beetle and have been getting repairs done back to back at different shops after an accident in February. Needless to say I jumped around to different shops because of the over pricing and scams. With Ron, I finally found some one who tells you the problem and the price up front. He does quick quality work and all at a decent price. Love this place! read more

I usually bring my car to Ron, never lets me down. I saw some people on here that had some bad experiences, and that's unfortunate because I think Ron's Auto is really great. Make sure to speak to Ron, always a pleasure to deal with, does good honest work, charges a very reasonable rate and is in general a good guy. You won't be disappointed. read more

I dropped my car off here on the 7th for an opinion on what was wrong with it. I was ready to use this place as my local mechanic due to the high yelp ratings. I know others have had positive experiences here, but mine was negative. Ron physically threatened and swore at me repeatedly for refusing to pay a fee ($90) that is posted nowhere in his shop and that he did not disclose when I dropped my car off. A few days earlier I had gotten an inspection and opinion from another mechanic at no cost. I wanted to drive the car home and think about the estimate he had given me ($450 to replace 1 fuel injector). When a contractor comes to your house to give you an estimate, is there a fee? No. When people come to estimate for landscaping, is there a fee? No. When a mover comes to estimate the cost of moving, is there a fee? No. Do many other automotive places offer free diagnostic service? Yes. You have to communicate with people if you want to get paid for something. I refused to pay and he wouldn't return my keys. He became very aggressive and told his employees I wanted to "put on the boxing gloves" (physical threat). He slapped his bicep and told me "here's my five-finger sign" (physical threat) when I asked where it is posted that there is a fee. He told me to "stop crying wha, wha, wha" and to "stop bull********," among other things. Eventually he walked away and I had to have the police intervene to get my car released without paying the fee. If he had just communicated about the fee beforehand, this would have been avoided, it's very simple. So, this is what happened when I went to Ron's Automotive; I hope other people have more positive experiences there. By the way, he told me exactly what the people at the auto parts store told me after using their diagnostic tool, which is a free service. read more

My family has owned and lived in Roslindale for 14 years, about a month ago I sent my 21 year daughter To Ron's to get help with taking old plates off that screw had rusted on. I didn't expect a free job but I didn't expect them to try and charge her $150.00!!! To remove screws?? Ron's auto should be ashamed! Told her $80 an hour shop cost. Come on guys you got to do better. That is straight robbery. Hope none of you have young college daughters that have to experience this kind of fuckery. "Karma" don't discriminate. read more

Been going to Ron for 5 years. I originally had a car that was cursed and required numerous major repairs. He's attentive, fair and skilled. I know when I drop my car off he is telling me the truth. I had an obscure part that would require 3500 and 6 weeks to be completed. He looked online and figured out how to customize a more readily available part for 1400. He's a good guy and I wouldn't use anyone else. read more

My brother worked with Ron many years ago at a different shop, and said that he is as honest as they come. My family and I have been bringing all our cars to Ron for more than 16 years, and we have always gotten excellent service at a fair price. Highly recommended! read more

Ron is a great mechanic. My whole family goes there. He tells you exactly what's wrong with your car and doesn't push you to fix things that aren't broken/things that don't need to be fixed yet. I have never had a bad experience in the 3 years I have been taking my car there. Highly recommended. read more

Great honest mechanic. Don't find many of them. I recommend Ron to everyone i know.

My daughter was driving into Boston from Western Mass and and had a loud noise from the front wheels after driving in heavy traffic. She took it in to Ron's the following morning and he checked the entire front end and brakes and assured her there was nothing wrong with the car. He spent a lot of time helping a traveler out of a tight spot and not only did not charge for the service but refused to accept a token of her appreciation. Kudo's to Ron and his crew for their help. The car performed fine on the trip home btw. read more

ok heres a christmas adventure for you. last week my car engine "siezes" on storrow drive. that was fun. today my mechanic- well my ex mechanic- tells me he can get an engine with 90,000 miles for $3000. but he doesnt want the job because "its too big a job. Not my cup of tea". ok fine but then he - my ex mechanic- asksh me what is the blue book value anyway. i dont know i say, your the mechanic. his advise is to go on line and find the blue book value even though "you might have to pay to find out". well at least my suspicians are confirmed- he does charge way too much for routine work if he can walk away from $3000. in this economy at this time of year. do your freinds, nieghbors, enemies a favor this christmas- stay away from Ron's automotive on washington st in roslindale across from dunkin donuts!!!!!! My first clue should have been all those times i stopped on my way home at the end of a day to pick up my car and found every guy in the shop with a beer in his hand. silly me read more
