He listened and was knowledgeable - even on some of my more specialized issues - and he had opinions, but he wasn't forceful. I Highly Recommend Dr. Ronald Young as my personal care physician! I have been his patient since he started and he is a very caring person, a great listener and follows up on his patients conditions. I especially credit Dr. Young with saving my life years ago when I complained about excruciating back pain - he listened closely to my complaint and scheduled an X-Ray that afternoon. To make a long story short, Dr Young personally called me back and said the X-Ray showed an aneurysm in my abdomen (AAA) and I was sent to a vascular surgeon for follow-up and ultimately surgery to repair the Artery. Wow, what can I say... only thing anyone could ever ask for would be to be treated like Dr. Ronald Young treats his patients - like they were one of his family! My old timer doctor retired and I bumped from urgent care to urgent care for a while as I could never find a doctor that I trusted would do their best for me. Not any more. Been seeing Dr. Young a few years now and couldn't be happier. A plus is that he is affiliated with the amazing Hoag Hospital which couldn't make me happier (a requirement for our family of five). My review of Dr. Ronald Young is based on a period of about 15 years of dedicated service especially from his office staff. I spent about the last 8-10 yrs relying on Dr. Young and his staff for help when I probably should have been seeing a shrink. I phoned their office more than a few times in a panic and was extremely difficult to deal with. But they stuck with me and we got through that rough patch and today under Dr. Young's guidance i do not have to take a pill everyday. Not one pill. Thanks Dr. Ron. Ten to five years ago, everyone in my family enjoyed their experiences visiting Dr. Young's office. Recently, however, it's become clear that the expansion of the practice has diluted the quality of service and care. My family members have switched doctors because they felt rushed through their appointments and their calls/emails weren't followed through. They didn't feel like their care was personal anymore and had instead developed into a practice focused more on profit. I didn't particularly believe this until today when I went in the office to get a copy of my medical records. The receptionist told me it would be $35 with a two week wait. Having just come from three other Doctor's offices without having to pay a dime and given immediate attention, even once with the receptionist quickly checking labs with the attending physician, I finally understood why my family left this office. I understand medical records require processing and labor, albeit very little, and I'm perfectly willing to pay for that. But if my medical record is five pages long and simply requires a database search of my name, I should not be charged $35. She said she would talk with the office manager to see what she could do. If you're a new patient, look elsewhere. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Young and this office for their professional and courteous treatment and care. Dr. Young is excellent at giving information and treatment options. I originally went to Dr. Young many years ago and moved from Irvine. I have been to several doctors since for annual checkups and minor illnesses and just didn't feel that they really cared. Dr. Young (who from one angle looks like Matthew Morrison and from another looks like Eric Dane), as the previous reviewer very enthusiastically writes, is an excellent GP. I've met so many doctors in the past that recommend invasive treatments, such as surgery, very quickly. Dr. Young is the opposite of trigger-happy in that sense. He'll hear you out, and he'll give you very practical advice, with surgery being the very last resort. Great bedside manners as well. His office's digital/paper-less approach to notifying the patients of their test results is an added bonus. I'd recommend Dr. Young to anyone! read more

Dr young is nice....he has been my Dr for over 5 years, although I rarely need to see him. That being said, the scheduling experience I just had was a NIGHTMARE. I need to get a physical for a license renewal for work. I had him perform one on me the last time I needed a renewal five years ago. It takes 15 minutes. Called for an appointment and the next available is over 2 months out???? Are you kidding me? So, I wont be able to work and my insurance will be cancelled if I wait for him....I just dont get it....maybe I am wrong and 2 month appointments are normal........But I am moving on.......see ya read more

I would give this guys 0 stars if possible. I dont know how he earned that degree. I went to him because of a swollen ankle due to injury, He said its not a swelling its your bone. Let it heal. I asked for an ortho referral he wouldnt give me one saying i dont need it. I called up a few months later and his assistant trells me, oh did you not visit the ortho?? I see in his notes that he has given you a referral. What an absolute waste. I would highly recomment staying fat far away from this doctor. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Young for many years and still continue to see him after moving to Texas. Dr. Young has good bedside manners and I do think he listens to my complaints and self diagnosis. We have good discussions of what he thinks might be the cause and what I read online thru my own research. He will clearly summarize at the end of the visit what the course of treatment will be and the plan for follow up. He also is not objective to try different courses of treatment that may not be stardard of care. read more

Updated review: Dr. Ronald Young is one of the most patient doctors I have ever had the luck of experiencing. I chose him out of the blue but I'm glad I did. I needed a doctor near my work for convenience. He is very patient, listens to your every issue and this is my first time being on an HMO from a PPO but I can't even tell the difference thanks to the doctor and his staff. I've already seen him a few times as this has been a bad allergy and flu season, on top of other health issues I've had. He also has a great personality and sense of humor. These two things may be taken for granted until you've had the opposite who treats you like a number or cattle coming through their office. And I have had that experience with some other doctors. Beyond that you will recognize Dr. Young's intellectual sense and vast knowledge of medicine, just in your first conversation about whatever your issues are. Thanks Doc! I would also give Dr Young a zero if I could. My husband who has been very ill for the past year because of previous medical neglect is his patient. Unfortunately he has been in and out of emergency as a result of this. I guess the insurance company is questioning him as he informed me that if he does not stay well in the next month he would be forced to call protective services have my husband physically removed from the home, I would be prosecuted for neglect and be forced into financially bankruptcy to pay the state medical bill. It is rare indeed to have a doctor who doesn't leave you waiting for more than 10 to 15 minutes, in fact I'm usually seen in 5 Minutes. More importantly he always is current on my medical history, concerns and needs with truly compassionate care consequently I am able to maximize real benefits of my time with him. Needed specialist referrals are recommended and decided quickly with following documentation in 2 to 3 days. Even though I live 35 miles distant from his office now I refuse to give him up--he is that special.
