Unfortunately, my experience inside the office was a completely different story. From the minute I walked in, something just felt off. The first person who greeted me at the front desk simply asked, "What's your name?" No hello, no welcome, no "How are you?" Just straight to business. I actually said, "Hey, how are you doing?" and had to repeat myself. It almost seemed like he was surprised that I was asking how he was doing. It might sound like a small thing, but first impressions matter, especially in a medical office. A simple "Hi, welcome in" goes a long way. The office was also extremely quiet. I didn't see any other patients, there wasn't much going on, and the same elevator-type music seemed to be playing on a loop. I sat in the lobby for about five minutes while I could see staff talking in the back. Eventually, someone came out and brought me into an exam room. This is where things became even more uncomfortable. I was told to undress and stand on a white cloth because the floor was cold. No gown or robe was offered. I had to specifically ask for one, and the response was basically that they normally don't give patients one. I said I wanted one, and they eventually gave me one. That was a big red flag for me. If you're asking someone to undress for an exam, providing some type of covering seems like a pretty basic patient-comfort thing. Then the doctor came in with another person holding an iPad. I had no idea who she was at first. I asked and was told she was there to help document everything. Maybe that's standard for this office, but when someone is potentially about to examine you while you're undressed, I think an introduction and explanation beforehand would be appropriate. At that point, I had already made up my mind. I wasn't comfortable getting undressed or doing a full exam. I stayed dressed, asked the doctor to look at the two specific things I came in for, and kept the visit short. When I checked out, they asked if I wanted to schedule another appointment because the doctor wanted to see me again in 30 days. I declined. But here's the part that really sealed it for me. About 30 minutes after I left, I actually called the office because I wanted to give the doctor feedback directly rather than just go online and write a review. I asked to speak with her and was told she wasn't available. I left my phone number and asked for a callback. They even asked what the call was about, and I specifically said I wanted to provide feedback about my experience. I never received a call back. That was red flag number four. The frustrating part is that none of my concerns were about the building, parking, or even the doctor's medical knowledge. It was the overall experience and the lack of basic communication and warmth. Say hello when someone walks in. Explain what's going to happen before asking them to undress. Offer them something to cover themselves with. Introduce the additional person entering the exam room. And if a patient calls afterward specifically wanting to provide feedback, at least acknowledge the call. Those little things matter. I left feeling less like a patient and more like I was just being moved through a process. And when I tried to give the office an opportunity to hear that feedback directly, nobody called me back. Based on my experience, I won't be returning, and with the number of dermatologists available throughout Torrance and the South Bay, I personally wouldn't recommend this office.

I wonder if Dr Chuang sold his practice to a private equity firm because the office is now all about profit and not about patient care. Also, I have been double billed, billed for crazy amounts (like hundreds of dollars for a skin check when I called my insurance and was only supposed to pay my $40 copay) and then it's soooooo much work to and hassle: his office just drains the life out of you and makes you want to give up and just let them keep your money. The final straw is that now the office has a new policy where you have to keep a credit card on file. This seems rampant for abuse! I decided to quit this practice rather than have to go through the hassle of this office changing my credit card aimlessly and fraudulently.

I agreed to cauterize them as they were dead blood vessels. She walked me through the process each time and counted down when she would do it. She also sent me home with aquaphor to protect it. I am so happy with the results!!!! The spots are flawless and can't be seen with no scars, and I'm so happy. As for the office, it's very well maintained and clean. I have never had an issue with making an appointment or checking out. All the staff are very friendly. & I am seen immediately at my scheduled time. There's validated parking at their lot.

That never happened. I fought their billing department for over 7 months and finally got a revised bill that removed 1 of the procedures but left the other one. I scheduled an appointment in 2026 with Dr. Michelle Cheng instead. Dr. Cheng herself was efficient and prescribed the medications I needed, which is the only reason this office is receiving one star rather than zero. The rest of the experience was completely unprofessional. When scheduling, I uploaded my new insurance and my appointment was confirmed, leading me to believe the office accepted my insurance. Upon arrival, the front desk was chaotic. Patients were being called out by full name and even MRN numbers within clear earshot of the waiting room, which was extremely concerning from a privacy standpoint. I provided my insurance card and later asked for it back, at which point a front desk employee named Rebecca responded with visible attitude, stating she could not run my insurance because her computer was not working and repeatedly said they "just needed to get me into a room." I specifically asked whether the provider I was seeing accepted my insurance and was told yes. After a rushed and impersonal visit, I was left alone in the exam room for another 10 minutes without being told my appointment had ended. During this time, I overheard multiple conversations about other patients in the hallway. When I returned to the front desk to retrieve my insurance card, I was told my insurance "wouldn't go through" and was informed that it was my responsibility to ensure the provider was in network. I explained that I have PPO insurance and that my coverage is active and used regularly. Despite this, I was told my insurance was "not valid" and that they "hoped it would work when billing got it." I decided to try again and saw Jackie. The difference in a couple months was really great! She listened to my concerns about harsh treatments and how I didn't have luck with tretinoin in the past. She noticed that I had multiple issues that needed to be resolved so she put me on a treatment plan. As I progressed I was able to phase out prescriptions once they were solved. My skin concerns of course were not solved overnight but I was happy to have someone who was able to guide me every step of the way. She listened to all my concerns and is an absolute pleasure to see. I've only seen Jackie so I can't speak for the other doctors. All the nurses I've dealt with have been helpful and professional. I will say I've never had the issues others have had in their reviews. Front desk is like any other medical front desk. Kind of cold but they get my appointments scheduled and send documents quickly. The wait times can be long so I like scheduling end of day. Parking is also not easy during the day but clears up later. Overall I highly recommend Jackie but give yourself time for parking/ wait times.

I've been suffering scalp itching for decades now and I never knew how to deal with it. Whenever I went to physicals doctors never really dealt with it. Finally decades later my primary doctor had recommended me to go to a dermatologist. They recommended me Julie iwasaki, glen iwasaki, good dermatologist. I called Julie's practice first and was shocked to have a 3 month wait. But something told me if she's booked for 3 months ahead she must be good. However I had an immediate skin condition that needed to be dealt with and went to good dermatologist instead. I honestly didn't have the best experience there. I had 2 doctors one wasn't helpful and the second was way better but overall experience I didn't like so waited for Julie's appointment. She was super kind gave me immediate solutions and asked me to return in 2 months. I'm excited to finally to find a doctor that is willing to work with me. On a side note, I found out doctor Gwen Iwasaki is her mother and a rare doctor who can speak Japanese. The caveat is she only takes medicare patients. I know there is a whole Japanese community desperately looking for Japanese speaking doctors so if there are any patients with medicare needing Japanese assistance I suggest trying her mother's practice.
