Ronald often does work for my homeowner's association, that's how I met him. Recently he was hired to fix what a different contractor had messed up.....that says a lot! As does the fact that you will need to book well in advance, because Ron's a very popular and a very busy guy. Ronald is frequently around my building doing exterior repairs on my townhouse complex.....replacing rotten wood trim & siding and such. The HOA is always so pleased with his work (for the past 5 years) that I hired him to do some interior work for me, and Ron & his crew have been working in my house for the past few days. They always remove their shoes when they enter my house....and this is important haha! If the crew knows they will be in and out a lot, going after material and tools, they cover all my carpet with tarps.....no small task when there are several split levels, with many flights of stairs. Ron is meticulous about protecting your property and furnishings, and keeping any mess to a minimum, and I appreciate that! Also, his guys who work for him are so nice! No sour faces ever. Ronald is working toward his contractor's license. His rates are reasonable. There seems to be no area he doesn't know and understand.....he worked on my fireplace, and my drywall. And did some electrical work, and some tile work, and carpentry. I expected to have to replace a ceiling fan and an old doorbell unit....had been told by another contractor that both were shot...but Ron fixed them both in a jiffy! Cool! Saved me money! So.... Ronald does property management, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, fencing, masonry, tile, roofing and painting. He also likes bathroom and kitchen remodeling, and recently did my neighbor's new kitchen. And he installed new windows for them. Ron likes working with wood, he told me he likes rough and fine carpentry. He likes doing crown molding, hanging doors (he did a French door for me), and installing hardwood floors. what can I say that hasn't already been said? I recently purchased a home and went through literally 20 contractors. I talked to them, showed them the work needed to be done and picked the best one. RON HANDY MAN! I based them off of, reliability, honesty, and price. He won on all accounts. His work is so freaking awesome! Very reliable and gave me honest answers to questions. I highly recommend him to anyone who needs anything done on their home. I just hope that he doesn't get too booked up because I would rather wait 2 weeks to get something done by him, than go to another contractor. I feel really really lucky to have a great contractor! I never found Ron to be dishonest or abandon a project, he was generally a nice guy and respected my house. That being said: Several appliances were installed incorrectly even though simple instructions came with products. This ended up costing me time and money to bring out pro installers who were pretty shocked at "stupidity" of Ron's team (their words not mine). The thermador cooktop being installed incorrectly fried its circuitboard and luckily the second guy (pro installer) documented in a way so we didn't get stuck with a massive financial loss on the replacement. Good job knocking down a kitchen wall and generally great at painting. He did recessed lighting that came out great. I cannot recommend his team recommend for anything that requires technical expertise. Dishwasher also installed poorly. Rubber sealing coming off. I'm looking for a handyman right now to fix this work. Ron seems to overhire a large team of people to book a lot of jobs and then either does not screen them well or does not review their work. But again I'd trust him for basic handyman jobs and his pricing is not bad at all. read more

We asked Ron to remodel a small bathroom and the results have been a disaster (see the pictures of the white subway tile bathroom--they speak for themselves). We are 14 days into a "5 day project" and Ron ***walked off the job today*** after I pushed back on his latest upcharge and asked him to fix tiling work that is completely unacceptable. He previously did two cost effective projects for us with reasonable quality. This project has been nothing like either of those two projects. He upcharged us once for a simple shower box that was always in the plan. Then he tried to upcharge us for fixing the bathtub drain after he and I specifically (during pre-quote) looked at fixing the drain (through a hatch I showed him)--he texted "Nope... not in my notes or the agreement". I offered to let him finish the job "with quality" (including fixing a reduced number of tiles vs. what you see below) and he simply responded via text: "No thx". He ruined more than a thousand dollars worth of tile and it will cost me even more--to say nothing of the inconvenience--to finish the project right. Meanwhile our three small children remain without a bathtub for some yet to be determined amount of time. Ron proved to me that he's a man who doesn't stand behind the quality of his work. And worse, he proved to me that he's a man whose word means nothing--which, like the tile he installed, speaks for itself. read more

I was not going to write a negative review even after having a rocky experience with Ron. But after he busted my $40 Lutron Fan/Light switch then denied doing so, he left me with no choice. I had several projects in the pipeline, and requested four quotes from Ron. He came in at great prices, so I said lets move forward with all of them, but start with the Interior of the house which entailed patching, texture, painting and spraying some cabinet doors. Rons guys are all really nice guys, but much of the work was pretty shoddy. When I say shoddy I'm referring to paint drips on baseboards they didn't bother to clean up (even when I apprised him of them), incomplete patch work showing the tape which was supposed to be covered, and last but not least, numerous dents, messy/dirty caulking, and sparse paint coverage on my brand new cabinet doors. These issues were the least of it. When his guys took the cabinet doors, I helped them label each door, and told them specifically that each hinge must stay where its at (as the hinges are adjustable and if moved to another door, will not allow the door to fit correctly). Of course when he thought he was done with the doors, he left them in a box on my doorstep, no labels, and all the hinges in a plastic bag. In the end I had to have my cabinet guy come back and install the hinges to each door, then adjust each hinge on every door. Ron did rectify most of the quality issues, except for the drips and dents. But Ron did not hesitate to be defensive and argumentative on multiple occasions. Throughout the project, he would never call me back, even when I requested him to do so multiple times. He communicates mainly via email or text, and never came back to check on his teams work. Very unprofessional. I was ready to let sleeping dogs lie, that is until when rectifying the remaining issues, he broke my expensive fan/light switch then denied it. He suggested that maybe my roommate broke it. Which is interesting since my roommate has been out of town for two weeks, and I use the light switch every day, which simply does not work now. It looks like he jammed a screw driver in it to adjust it, and now the button is jammed and I can barely get the light to turn on/off. BTW, I have a home video surveillance system, including one in my office where Ron broke the switch, so there's no point in lying to my face. read more

I had called twice for an estimate. The first message I had left was a general "Hey I'd like some info about re-tiling my condo". No return call. The next message 2 days later was "Hey if you are too busy or if I am out of your area, just call me and let me know." Still no answer.. very disappointing since all the rest of the reviews were so great Here's my addendum - He ended up calling 2 weeks later and said that he had a family emergency that took him out of the country for 2 weeks. This guy gave the worst quote i've ever seen! I had to repair 3 dry wall holes from tv mounts (still had the dry wall pieces) and all that had to be done was to reset the drywall piece sand it and repaint it. He wanted to charge $405.00 and I had to supply the material. I'd go with Webb's handyman services he said he'd do the job for $150. Do your research and don't get ripped off. only plus side was he's really good at responding to texts. read more

He showed up shortly after we called , gave a fair estimate, and his follow up was consistent prior to and during the job. I met Ronald Lopez about 4 years ago. The first job he did for me was a fence around my property. I have a very unique house and wanted a fence to match. Together we came up with a design that not only fits my house but enhances it. It is beautiful and so solidly built I'm sure I'll never have to replace a fence again. Ronald has also painted my five color Victorian house, rebuilt my very ornate front porch,repaired the gable,repaired termite damage and is at this moment painting my kitchen and replacing the floors on my whole first floor. Ronald's prices are always fair. His crew is always very careful and clean. He takes great care and respect for my property. He can can always be trusted and best of all he calls you back and show's up on time. He was quick and responsive, estimates were very reasonable. He is very busy, because he and his crew really do a great job. He is usually at the job when he says he is and keeps his word. His crew has been taught to respect the owners home and put drop cloths every where and was extremely clean in all work areas. Each crewmember had a job to do and I found them very efficient in the way that they worked. They did not leave the job sight for lunch, they would bring their own mircrowave and heat up their food, eat quickly and get back on the job. Ron and his team are great! Good at communicating quotes and answers to questions through phone, messaging and email. Have had a few things done around the house and love the work done (will post pics). They clean up at the end of each day and hauled away all the big stuff. If there was something I didn't like it or changed my mind, no problem, it would be fixed or changed if possible (sometimes late minute changes can add cost but that is expected). Most handymen creep me out. I generally feel like they take advantage of me because I have no idea what they are doing (whether this is true or not, I don't know). Also, sometimes I don't like the work (sometimes it looks worse than before the person started) and it's uncomfortable broaching the subject (we've gotten incredulous looks when the thing we hired them to fix was still broken). Ron is completely different. I needed to fix a hole in my drywall. I emailed him around 5pm, got a response by 5:30, had a quote by 6pm. He was here the very next day. The work done was AWESOME. I thought there would be a little mess, but there wasn't (usually we have handprints all over the walls or something irritating like that). The wall actually looked better than it did before. Ron and his partners were very professional and polite. I tried to pay Ron before inspecting their work, but he walked me the wall to make sure I was happy with the job before accepting the check. Ron's team STOLE from our house. Everyone - beware. Not only was the work terrible, but we found that my wife was at first missing a ring that was a decorative but fake stone, nothing too expensive. On the last day of the job her WEDDING RING was stolen. We know exactly where it was, so it's not exactly a hard case to solve. She left it on top of her jewelry box in our bathroom, which was a terrible idea, and then left it there while Ron's team was in the house. And...guess what...then it was gone. Same day, a short time period has passed. Of course you can guess how the rest of the story goes - he denied it. I have a pending investigation but I wanted everyone to know that his team will steal from your house. There's nothing more personal than stealing a woman's wedding ring (it was her engagement ring). What's coincidental is that it was stolen on our anniversary. Anything else that was taken would not have felt so personal, but this ring was part of our life and memories. The job was also shoddy - here are some details: They used wood that was from dumpster diving - it was for our stairs, and looks horrible. They never had materials, or were too lazy to go find them. I had to go to hardware stores looking for trim. Had me buy extra bundles of flooring when it was close to finished, which I said wouldn't be needed but he insisted. I bought the additional flooring and it was never used, just like I thought. So Ron's team is everyone's worst nightmare - bad work, and they stole from us. I feel stupid because we treated them well, and I even bought them Subway a few times. Beware, have cameras, or keep your stuff in a safe. I have a police report to back all of this up. read more

Ron was great at creative problem solving and helping me identify the products I needed to create the look I wanted. Very disappointed with Ron. Scheduled a time for him to come give an estimate on a laundry list of jobs around the house. Cancelled last minute on me and rescheduled for the next day. Showed up and was very pleasant for the walk through. Sent me a quote that felt a little high. I countered 20% lower. We compromised and he agreed to about 10% under his bid. I then scheduled the installation of my front door which he was going to stain as one of the jobs only for him to come back the next day and say he's no longer interested in the job at the agreed upon price. He wanted to renegotiate or rate after we had agreed. I had $2,000 of stuff for him to do around my house and apparently that was going to be too small of a job for him. Look elsewhere. read more

Need to plan ahead since he is very busy and wants to be at each job where he and his helpers are working. I told him when I absolutely needed some of the work done (a tenant was moving in) and he got his helpers there and did the work. I also needed a cleaning crew and he arranged that for me too. I used Ron about a year ago after reading yelp reviews. My glass shower door had lost a screw and would not slide. I thought, how hard can it be to take the door out, replace the screw and put it back in? Well, after struggling for a long time I couldn't do it so I called Ron. He and a helper showed up within four hours and it took them awhile to get the door back in. They ended up having to remove the track, which would have been impossible for one person to do alone.
