Before writing about my experiences at 'Park Slope Dentistry, I wanted to read the comments from other patients, to get a sense of their experiences, see if it they would coincide with my own. Below is my anecdote.
How I found 'Park Slope Dentistry, Dr. Teichman,DDS'. Having gone to a number of dentists in Manhattan and Brooklyn for the past 55 years ( I am now 64), I had not been content with some of them. My neighbor/friend who had moved from Rockland County, a few years ago to Brooklyn, had highly recommended Dr.Teichman. Having valued her recommendations in the past, I decided to make an appointment. My first visit to Park Slope Dentistry, when I met with Dr. Teichman and his staff, I knew that I had made the right decision in asking my friend. Needless to say, I was very impressed with their friendly welcome and professionalism. In addition, to a pleasant clean office with an appealing and spotless bathroom.
A few months later, my husband had a tooth infection and his dentist was on vacation. He went to his dentist's office and the dentist's colleague saw him . This dentist told my husband that he was grinding his teeth at night. My husband's pain continued and I recommended that he see Dr.Teichman. Dr.Teichman looked at him, diagnosed my husband's problem (root canal) and recommended a specialist. My husband went to the specialist and was immediately taken care of. When my husband's dentist returned from vacation, he told my husband that he was glad he went for a 2nd opinion, the diagnosis was accurate, and the specialist's work well done. The point I am making is (Dr.Teichman made the correct diagnosis) a second opinion is always advisable.
Neither my husband nor I have dental insurance, therefore I can understand firsthand, how costly it can be when seeing a dentist. For that matter, any medical expense if you are not properly insured. With that said, I was also concerned with the health condition of my mouth, which can have an overall affect on one's health. Hence, it was important for me to have an exceptional dentist and a big plus, a dental office with hi-technology dental equipment. Having hi technology dental equipments, enables the dentist (in this setting) both Dr. Teichman and his patient, view the possible problematic dental conditions, or any other mouth conditions that may affect the patients overall health.
I had been informed by my previous dentist that my gums were showing signs of periodontal disease. This dentist suggested at the time, I should have periodontal surgery to avoid any further harm to my gums. Due to the cost/time/discomfort from this procedure, I decided not to have it done.
When I started going to Dr. Teichman's office he had suggested a complete mouth exam, which I knew was overdue. I had been aware that I had periodontal disease, however, Dr. Teichman's pointed out that my condition wasn't as severe. As an alternative to surgery, Dr. Teichman recommended Arestin treatment for my gum condition. Dr. Teichman said that this Arestin treatment was not a magic solution, but in his opinion with my current gum condition, the Arestin treatment should work. Dr. Teichman informed me of the cost and the areas on my gums that needed the Arestin to be administered. He gave me a brochure on Arestin, suggested I Google for more information on the effectiveness/cost of this type of gum treatment and told me to think about it.
Once, I did the research on Arestin, I felt confident to proceed with the treatment. My favorite and caring dental hygienist 'Denise' would be administering the shots. After each of my dental cleaning appointments with Denise, she would point out the gum areas that she felt most needed the Arestin shots. Then we would discuss the costs and I would let Denise know if financially, I was able to go ahead with these shots.
I am very grateful to Dr. Teichman and Denise the hygienist who had administer these shots, that I had made this decision. My gums feel better and are now healthier. Naturally maintaining good dental habits and going to Denise, my dental hygienist, every 3 months does help.
Although, I would highly recommend Denise, my dental hygienist, at Dr.Teichman's office. I ought to point out, in my opinion, Dr. Teichman's staff of dentists, hygienists and technicians at Park Slope Dentistry, are all competent, professional and friendly. Needless to say, the Office Administrator 'Irina' is a pleasure to do business with. Irina too, with her staff, equally as well, conduct themselves in a professional/friendly manner. read more
