So fun! I have memories here myself as a kid so I was pumped when my 7 year old got an invitation for a birthday party here - I didn't even realize that was a thing! We easily rented skates and had so much fun rolling around. The music was great, super fun and upbeat vibe, and they did so great with the birthday party too with a private party room for food. i love rollerskating here but my only problem is the fact that one of the workers colleen W maybe?? went onto rock bot and was getting rid of every song my friends and I were qeueing but keeping everyone elses. I understand some of the songs we reccomended were a bit much, but it's unfair to ban artists, allow other people to play their songs and not ours, and just completly turning it off completly. You should have either turned rockbot off to begin with or allow EVERYONE the chance to play their music. read more

Had a blast getting our rolling skate vibe on! Rented shoes and joined MANY people on the wood floor! It was a great open skate from 1-4. It got a bit busy with a variety of abilities on the floor. If you're like me and desperately looking for somewhere to take your incredibly energetic kids when it is less than pleasant outside, look no further. I brought my 7 and 4 yr old here during public skating and we had a blast. It is not the nicest or largest rink and it was a bit crowded but everyone was considerate so it worked. My kids have never skated before so we got some practice in on the carpeted section to build up their confidence first. We played some of the arcade games (very limited selection but the kids enjoyed). The staff were all super nice and helpful. Rentals available. Fairly clean place. There is a skate shop inside. I've had upgrades to my skates done there and have been happy the results. Clean building, ample seating, smooth wooden floor. After seeing some of the older reviews I had to write a review. I went February 2023 for the first time since the 90s, I was wearing a hat and no one hassled me about it, didn't know that was a thing until I read the reviews from 9 years ago. If it is still a thing its dumb and it shouldn't be. Also I paid with a credit card so that's not a thing anymore either. Pretty cheap compared to ice skating at Bolton ice palace. Sessions at ronaroll with a rental are 3 times as long for the same price as 1 hour on ice with a rental. I had no complaints. We worked up an appetite skating and for 28 bucks we got wings, hot dogs, chicken fingers, fries, soft pretzels, and cookies. No complaints from me the 3 teenaged nieces. Its nice to have food there. we did get pretty hungry after about an hour. I plan on going much more often. It seems like great winter or rainy day activity. The young workers seemed like a good bunch of kids, and were all helpful. I'm glad this place has survived all these years. read more

I was here on 7-21-11. Yay I finally got a vacation! So where do you go mid-day when you are with little ones? Ron-A-Roll. The place feels like it's in the middle of nowhere. Alas my sister was doing the driving so I basically wasn't caring if we got lost coming here. I did like the idea of skating though. The place is huge! Like any roller rink should be. It didn't look bland at all. You could tell that alot of people frqeuent this place. The place is clean, & has everything you'd expect the typical roller rink to have. Huge skating rink, snack bar, skate rental booth, arcade games, tables, party rooms, etc. The customer service is basically non-exsistent though. The employees look like they honestly could care less of what concerns, needs, etc you might have. Family owned syndrome possibly? Last but not least they're expensive. I'll just conclude by saying that you come here for the huge skating rink, & music. Not the customer service. read more

The wooden floor has the cleanest floor I've seen, I've skated at rinks in California and Illinois for background. For me the floor was a little too clean lol, there's nothing bad about that at all I just wasn't used to it. The staff was really friendly. The music playing wasn't my style but I understand it was directed toward a different audience. Paying in cash was a minor inconvenience but I didn't mind I just stopped at an ATM prior. The owner seem pretty active there as well. I hope to come back during the adult session with softer wheels for the nice floor. Also their skate shop is really high quality! My recent visit was my first time at Ron-A-Roll and my first time roller skating in a VERY long time! A friend won free passes and brought her daughter and then decided to sign up for lessons. They sell monthly lesson packages (4 classes) or you can pay ad hoc for class on Tuesday night from 6:30 to 7:30. For $18.00 I got the lesson, skate rentals, and a pass to come for a free skate session. They split the classes into three skill levels and everyone that worked there was very nice, patient, and helpful. Brought back a lot of memories, and in just an hour of instruction and practice I was surprised how well I was doing. I didn't stay for the open skate, but plan to go back and use my pass. I see the comments from other reviewers about the DJ/Mic guy, but I'll keep an open mind until I get there myself. read more

They don't bother to tell you they don't take cards anymore but tell you to use their $2.50 fee atm the bathroom doors don't lock in the girls room so if your daughter is on skates and has to pee, good luck. Today was my first and last time visiting your establishment. I came in at 1:00 pm with my 16 year old daughter. This was only her second time rollerskating. I had done my research, as my daughter is still quite nervous on skates, and I wanted to find a rink with a wall all the way around so she could use if needed. Your website made me think this would be the perfect rink for her, so we drove the hour and 10 minutes, stayed in Manchester Sunday night and we were both excited to skate today. When we arrived, we paid admission and skate rental. When getting our skates we were told only men sizes were available. After trying on 3 different sizes each, my daughter felt comfortable enough to get up and skate. A quarter of the way around the rink I could tell my daughter was really struggling. She said she felt like she was falling backwards. She became more agitated and scares, stepping off the rink near the emergency exit because she didn't feel safe. It took me some convincing, but I got her back onto the floor and off the rink. We immediately took our skates off, returned them, and I went to the cashier. I explained what had happened and she told me "No refunds". We were in the building less than 20 minutes. She then asked if I wanted to speak to the manager, I said yes. The manager came out and I explained what had happened. She also confirmed there were no refunds. I was baffled. The manager could tell I wasn't pleased and said she could offer a return pass. The reason we were asking for a refund was because your establishment didn't have what we were seeking, and it is quite a distance from our home, a return pass would do us no good. The rink is ok. But here is why. First I arrive 5 minutes early and there is a line and then didn't actually get in for another 20 minutes. Only one slow cashier. Really? Then they advertise all you can eat pizza. So we go up and wait in line. 20 minutes later we get our pizza. There is only 1 cashier. It's ridiculous to have to wait so long. Don't advertise all you can eat pizza if you can handle it. Stupid system. Have another person working. One for the pizza, one for other things. read more

Ron-a-Roll definitely fits into the "throwback" category as roller skating rinks are certainly more or less a thing of yesteryear. Sad that they have pretty much died out but truth is kids are too busy playing with their numerous gadgets to be bothered with physical activity. Anyways, since I am not from Connecticut, I didn't grow up going to Ron-A-Roll, but rollerskating was my all time favorite pastime. Heck, if I had a safe place to rollerskate now or lived in Miami, I would definitely still do it regularly. Enter, Ron-A-Roll, which is easily walking distance from my house ( and for those that don't live so close, right off I-84, exit 66). I had to check it out...so on the day before my 29th birthday this winter, my sister and I stopped in. I had the time of my life!! At times it was hard to skate at ease with little kids and inexperienced adults dropping left and right, but that is to be expected. I did find out there are different days that are adults only, kids only etc, so that was good to know for the future. Even though the place could use some updating, I think part of it being stuck in a different decade adds to its overall charm. I would highly recommend checking it out! I am definitely am interested in looking into roller derby in the near future thanks to my awesome experience here and realizing I still "have it in me". read more

This place doesnt deserve the time of day or your business. Insensitive, rude, disrespectful, and discriminating staff and mangement. I wonder if managerment knows that their staff apologized to children all night over the mistreatment of their mom, a recent breast cancer survivor who was not allowed in because of their rules on head gear. This rule needs to be reviewed with sensitivity and intelligence. I wonder if they would treat their mom, sister, aunt, friend in the same manner. I think offering someone who has spent the last year fighting for their health, a dirty flithy helmet to wear to watch her kids and their friends skate is disgraceful. Like other reviewers said - It's dirty, overpriced, and we kept getting yelled at by the DJ/Mic guy. However, it was a throwback to old times. I felt like I should be wearing a skirt, holding hands with my date, and drinking a milkshake afterwards. It wasn't too crowded for a Saturday night, although you need to watch out for the experienced skaters, as they kept weaving in and out of the slower paced patrons. I wish they played better music. They have request list, but they never seemed to get around to playing any of the songs. The bathrooms certainly need intense cleaning, so beware. This is an awesome place. My friends and I love coming here, we would come every week before covid started and now I have recently gone again and it was awesome! I'm not a great skater but I didn't fall once! The skates are great but make sure you get your size otherwise it could be difficult. We went here for my daughter's 12th birthday party, although we didn't opt for a "party package" since she felt that was a little too "young" for her. We had a good time. For a Saturday night, it wasn't too crowded, and our group of girls had plenty of room to move around the roller rink -- and fall, repeatedly -- without getting run over. The kids liked the Top 40 music selection and the fact that they could request songs. Service was fine. If you went here as a youngin' it is the exact same. Cash only, ATM has a $2 fee, they have "slow" skates for kids, and the plastic skates that go over shoes, kids can bring their own pads, helmets and even your own skates, they also have roller blades. There is a snack bar, no actual bar, it wasn;t crowded on Saturday. They have lockers for your valuables, some ticket dispensing games a la chuck e cheese in the lobby (1/3 were out of order, but the little kids can't tell the difference). An Adult rental is $12.45 for Saturday. They have different deals and prices everyday of the week (ex. Thurs. 6pm to 8:30pm, $9.50 with all you can eat pizza) I was here for a birthday party, in the party room, there were 2 giant bowls of the most heavily salted popcorn ever....I loved it, but not super kid friendly. The kids got each got a slice of Papa Ginos pizza, fruit punch or iced tea, ice cream cake, Ron A Roll themed plates/napkins/cups/tablecloths etc. Most of the staff was very nice, especially the guys in the skate area and the staff member who skates around. "No hats" How can it be a safety issue? No explanation is given, no justification to discriminate. Maybe you have the unfortunate experience to have to support someone with cancer and watch the same happen to you. The people who made this rule should be wearing there own special needs helmet with a chin strap and face guard. I guess since I go to Ron-a-Roll once a week it's time I write a review! For me roller skating has become very addicting and something I really enjoy doing with my little sister. It's also a fantastic workout. We come so often that I just wish they had some sort of frequent patron deal card, but if you're smart sometimes you can score a deal via certain websites or those little coupon books you get in the mail. They play pretty good, top 40 type music. The only reason I'm giving them a 4/5 is that their rental skates are VERY old and gross. We bring our own. Definitely the biggest and best place to skate in CT! read more

Great rink! Floor is wooden, the boards are uneven and buckled in a few places. It's a bit slick compared to most other wood floors. Hartford Area Roller Derby who practices out of here is wonderful. Open skate is also a lot of fun, with modern music and fun lights. This rink offers skating lessons, artistic skating as well as speed skating. :) read more
