History
Established in 2002.
Romana's Pilates is a family owned and operated company headquartered in Fort Lauderdale that seeks to bring three generations of Pilates' expertise to South Florida. The instructors at Romana's Pilates teach the exercises and philosophies of Joseph and Clara Pilates as handed down to their world-renowned protégé, Romana Kryzanowska, and later her daughter, Sari Mejia Santo.
After "Uncle Joe" and Clara's deaths, Romana Kryzanowska inherited their New York City studio and preserved the Pilates' legacy by traveling the world for six decades to educate the next generation of Pilates instructors. Kryzanowska's daughter, Santo, who also had the opportunity to train directly with the Pilates, taught at her mother's side for more than three decades. Romana's Pilates owner Daria Pace, and is also Santo's daughter, would later join her mother and grandmother in teaching the Pilates method.
Meet the Business Owner: Daria P.
Daria Pace took her first steps in her grandmother Romana Kryzanowska's Pilates studio. This studio is the one Romana had inherited from Joe and Clara Pilates. Romana Kryzanowska is the world renown protégé of Joseph Pilates credited for teaching the leading Pilates teachers and practitioners today.
Daria started taking ballet and movement class with her grandma, (Romana Kryzanowska) when she was 3 years old. Born with a congenital hip dislocation, her mother Sari Mejia Santo and grandmother got her leg stronger through Pilates, not only could she walk, but could dance.
She became an instructor while in College. Later, Daria was asked to travel and teach with her grandma and mother to Australia, Rome, Paris, and Vienna and all over the US. After teaching alongside her mom and grandma for over 10 years, she relocated to Fort Lauderdale in 2007. Now she helps run the international Pilates training, Romana's Pilates.
