Alex was our next contact, and he and his removal/dry-in crew were phenomenal. Professional, fast and efficient. HELP TO EXPOSE A CORRUPT ROOFER IN A INDUSTRY WHERE NO ONE SPEAKS UP AND BAD CONTRACTORS ARE PROTECTED!! - Hired Nov 2024 - Tear off shingles/deck Jan 2025 - installed new decking 15/32" not 5/8" per FBC and contract - Failed Dry-in Feb 2025 - Installed 2 more layers of underlayment (3 total) w thousands of nails + partial metal roof. Screwed up the custom roof, took it off, reinstalled halfass. - Failed 2 Finals Apr /May 2025 - Failed for numerous reasons but also for going above and beyond the scope of their license. They are roofers not a GC or engineer. - there was alot of truss work done that went above and beyond the scope of their license. No GC or engineer was involved. - Collier required them to hire an engineer for all truss work. - Filed Collier County & DBPR Complaints, Insurance Claim due to excessive delays, dmgs, lack of response from ANYONE - owner Norman Dopfer failed to respond to emails and calls since Jan 2025 - underlayment 3x, new metal roof 2x, leaked every time - used subpar materials IE: cheap roofing nails on DTW underlayment which req 11g 1.5" and min 1" non-corrosive discs or reg nails - rusting on drip edge - 3 crew teams did inferior work all failed inspections - they failed to provide W9 records during the investigation for the crews working here. - the crew lead Esteban and Tony Supv were never here onsite - Mike Hetherington the Ops Mgr was a piece of work who was never onsite except once for a forced meeting due to failed inspection. - Mike Hetherington sent me a threatening email that he was not going to fix the leaking roof, and the half ass workmanship. If I did not allow him to continue the work as is, he was going to bring legal action against me. (That is the last thing you do is threaten me) - they made a few halfhazard attempts to make patches to fix some of the many issues but they failed to address the bigger issue. The wrong plywood was installed. - In Aug I was given Norman Dopfers tel # to contact by the County Investigator. Both the state and county had a very difficult time reaching him also. - Once I made contact we tried to work together but it became obvious that Norman did not want to follow the County requirements of hiring an engineer. He was trying to do the repairs how he wanted to ignore all of the truss damages they caused, cover up and move on. - He hired a GC Chris Heyer in Aug/Sept 2025 who agreed an engineer was not required - yet the damages are extensive as you can see in the pictures. In addition the 15/32" (12mm) plywood they installed was no longer 12mm, maybe 6-8 mm due to multiple layers torn off with the underlayment. See pictures. It still did not meet the 5/8" FBC requirements and what I paid for. There are thousands of holes, its split in many places, water, and not mold dmgd. - the 3 layers of underlayment and the metal roof came off in Aug 2025 - tearing off the sealed top layer of 15/32". They put another layer of underlayment halfass down, failed to fix the main issue again, it still leaks, never replaced decking to 5/8", dmgd at least 25+ trusses in process of fixing the 1/4"+ spacing btwn the boards instead of just tearing off the entire roof and replacing w 5/8" they used 15/32"! - Norman had a friend who owed him a favor per his text Michael Sheeley AIA write him a letter stating he came to my home, and inspected my roof on Oct 13, 2025. That false statement was signed by Michael Sheeley and submitted as fact to Collier County. It was a lie. Michael Sheeley was never to my home to inspect. I filed a complaint w the DBPR and the BOAID. - I in turn hired my own expert engineer to inspect my roof. He did a thorough job and completed a recommendation report based on his findings. The entire decking needed to be brought up to FBC code. There are extensive top truss damages caused by Roman Roofing that need to be repaired before moving forward. - When Norman rcvd the report instead of fixing the issues. He hired his Atty to contact me. - the roof mfg will no longer honor the lifetime warranty on the new metal roof laying on ground since Aug 2025 due to being strapped and exposed to elements, it should have been dry and pulled indoors. - I have dmg to gutters, soffits, facia, stucco, drywall (crews fell in 8x), fiberglass pool (Failed to tarp debris fell in), 4x storage units, 1 yr of delays costing my rebuild ++ - My house as it stands today is gutted, cannot do my rebuild due to no roof from Jan 2025 with now $100K+ damages to fix from Roman Roofing crews! - REFUSING TO FIX ALL DMGS read more

We were referred to Roman Roofing by a neighbor in our mobile home park. We had discovered a leak in our roof and were anxious to find out what was happening. Initially Roman Roofing was wonderful. Came out. Examined our roof and thankfully told us it was only a repair and not a whole new roof, that was needed. The salesman, Jeremy, could not have been nicer. Told me how I would get an email to pay my deposit and they would put me right on the schedule. Said it was a slower time, so should all go pretty quickly. Said the repair would probably take an hour or two. So several days later got the email and paid the deposit right away. I did receive a email receipt. That was the last I heard from Roman Roofing for well over a week. I finally called their office. A woman told me that the scheduling person was out and they would call me back. Two days later, still no call. I called again and the same woman now told me that I was on the schedule for that coming Friday. I even said it back to her, to double check that I had it right. Friday comes and nothing. No text, no call, no roof repair person. I called at 3 pm. Getting the same person, I asked where my roofer was. She informed me that Tim's team was still out working. I asked if that meant that my roof was still getting done. She did not know. I told her that I wanted to talk to someone who knew for sure. She said they would call me. I also texted Jeremy my sales person and told him how frustrated I was. That other than my receipt for my deposit, I had absolutely no communication from the company and that if someone didn't call me, I would be calling the Better Business. So someone did call and proceeded to tell me that I was actually never on the schedule at all. So I guess the person telling me I was scheduled for Friday was at the least, confused. He told me they were having inner turmoil, which as a customer shouldn't concern me. But if someone at any time had contacted me and said that, I would have understood. Instead they ducked my calls. They finally got someone out here. The person had a truck with a totally different company name. And was up on my roof for about 25 minutes. That night I got an email from the salesperson Jeremy, asking me to give them a good review. Talk about clueless!!! They might be a good company. And maybe they did have inner issues. RUN AWAY from this company! Nothing but a pain from the start and through to the end! How does a "reputable" roofing company with so many "years of experience" get it so wrong? Problems with company and job (in order of how they occurred): 1.) Workers purposely broke many palm fronds that they deemed "in their way" destroying trees in the process. 2.) Left a lot of shingles, debris and nails laying around the yard after tear off. 3.) FAILED FIRST INPECTION! This was because the peel and stick underlayment was not laid down flat. Yes, you read that right NOT FLAT. THis is such a rookie mistake it's disgusting. (Dry-in inspection) 4.) Installed a ridge vent that should not have been installed. The ridge vent was installed 3.5 feet from a Solar Power Exhaust Fan vent. Anyone who knows anything about roofing knows this is a mistake. They had to come back out, remove ridge vent, seal and shingle ridge which is how it should have been done from the start. 5.) FAILED FINAL INSPECTION! 6.) Damaged gutter causing the gutter to overflow. Had to come back to fix. 7.) Left 8 open bundles of shingles and 1.5 cans of 5 gal roofing cement in front yard landscaping. Was not even aware that it was there until I called to inform them a week after the job was finished. 7.) Very poor communication An incredibly lousy experience. I hope the roof holds up! read more

As I have security devices on my home, I was able to "see" the company show up and clean up. Neighbors sent progress photos as well - and were impressed with the crew. When it c ame time to replace our roof we had 4 estimates. Although Roman roofing was the highest estimate we were sold on the presentation of the salesman, stating all they do to go above and beyond to not only do a better then average job but to please the customer. Debris was left all over the site, including empty drink bottles, nails and pieces of shingles. They shot a nail through the AC line set and calmed it was my fault so I had to pay a AC company to fix it at a cost of $560.00. They claim they're insured but I guess it doesn't cover what they do wrong. The installers threw the bundles of shingles down so hard that it shook the house and caused 14 nail pops in my ceiling that I had to have fixed. when asked the Forman stated that it was normal. Caution, Caution, Caution, will not stand behind work. Warranty is meaningless!!! In January 2019 we experienced a leak above our master shower. We contacted Roman Roofing. The salesman came to the house and inspected the roof. We were told the roof was nearing end of life. We decided to have Roman Roofing replace the roof. The roof was removed and replaced by March of 2019. During a stay in June 2020 we noticed a leak in the same place above the shower. We called Roman and they sent a repairman to fix the problem. I paid to have drywall repaired. 2021 The leak returned and Roman sent someone out to fix the issue. I again paid to fix the drywall. In 2023 again the same issue. This time it was a very light stain on the drywall. January 15 2024 a large leak in the same location after a big rain. I called Roman and they sent out a salesman Jordan P. Jordan got up on the roof, took some pictures, said that he was going talk with his production manager and figure out what was going on. 1/22/2024 called the company because I had not heard anything back from Jordan. Stephanie answered and said she would have him call me. 1/25/2024 Called the company again because he did not return the call. Again I was told she would get with him and have him call back. 1/29/2024 Following the requirements of their contract I wrote a letter to document the issues that have occurred over the last years. I let them know that the original issue was a leak above the shower and the leak has been happening for the last 4 years after replacing the roof. 1/29/2024 I received a response stating that he had talked to the production team about this repair. Then something about trying to send an email to the GAF rep to attempt to get them to cover it under warranty. Roman has a warranty for 5 years according to my contract. I was told that due to the hurricane they could not be held accountable under the warranty. I did not have any damage to my roof from the hurricane. Jordan inspected the roof on 1/5/2024 and said the roof looked fine. He asked me for a copy of my contract because he didn't have access to that information. He also asked if I kept records on the repair people that came out to attempt to fix the repairs. I told him I had the dates of when they came but that his company should have those records. I told him the problem had nothing to do with the hurricane. This leak has occurred every year since your company replaced the roof. 2/01/2024 After hearing nothing from the company I sent another email requesting a meeting with the owner. I tried to explain that it was obvious that Jordan did not have the capability to investigate the situation with his lack of access to the systems. 2/05/2024 Again no response from Roman. My emails went to both Roman's office staff and Jordan. I am just amazed at the way companies run today. I gave two of my neighbors and my sister recommendations for Roman Roofing. On my recommendations Roman did the roofs. I completely regret ever recommending Roman Roofing. One of my neighbors had them replace the roof and they put the wrong color on the house. They damaged her gutters and she had scuffs on the house. While I could just call another roofer and have them come out and fix the problem I won't. I have had by limit on companies that hire poor help, find every way they can to blame someone or something else and won't take responsibility for their companies products. I cannot state this enough STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. Next will be a letter to the BBB and then probably a call to the attorney. I our new metal roof was installed less than a year go. Rain came in through the cap.... did they fix it after Hurricane Ian, NO, did they pay for the ceiling damage in the hallway, YES, with some reluctance and it took about a month for anyone to come see the damage. Fast forward to 2023 after Hurricane Idalia, which did not even make impact here, we had more rain coming in through the cap. Someone came out within two days to puts foam in the cap... why wasn't that done already. We have water stains all over the ceiling and their response is: They came out to seal the ridge vents when our warranty was no longer valid and that getting the ceiling painted was our responsibility. Why in the hell can't our metal roof that you installed, withstand rain coming in through a ridge vent? HOW IS IT THAT LESS THAN A YEAR LATER OUR WARRANTY IS NOT VALID? We are extremely angry! If our roof is going to do this on every storm, what a waste of money! I was unable to be there for the job and when I was finally able to get to the house to see the finished product they put the wrong color it. I have a notarized contract with the color I chose. There was no change order to indicate the color should have been changed. It's absolutely unacceptable for a business to so blatantly breach contract and then give a customer the run around. I followed every proper protocol, yet they still pulled a classic bait-and-switch maneuver. Now I'm stuck with the wrong color shingles that detracts the exterior paint scheme. They assured me the situation was being addressed, but then went totally radio silent. They will not return my messages. Roman Roofing started out really strong, however the minute that the deposit was paid all communication stopped. They don't answer their phone and don't even have a voicemail. They started the project and we immediately realized that they were putting the wrong color shingle on the house so we stopped them. They claim that the color that was put up was the color we chose. We went back and forth with the sales person and it came to a point that they said it would be $3500 to remove a small amount of shingles. I told them it was their fault, but that I would split that amount with them where they can eat half and I would eat half. Called Roman Roofing about a attic turbine vent that had blown off the roof leaving a 12" hole straight to our attic. Their estimator Ralph said he would stop by and look at it but at the end of the day said he didn't have time. I re-iterated the importance of getting it done quickly and he responded with attitude that they are working 18 hours a day/ 7 days a week and he was doing the best he could. The fact I needed it repaired quickly seemed to be an issue and he was rude in his response. He even looked up how old the roof was to try and suggest a new roof, really? I understand everyone is super busy in South Florida right now but no need to be unprofessional. Then the following morning he text me a quote for $1,500.00. Yes the replacement turbine on Home Depot's website is $43.99!!!! This is price gouging at it's finest for a desperate homeowner in a bad situation with a 12" hole straight into their attic. I would have rather they just said they weren't interested and to take my business elsewhere rather than insult my intelligence. Later got a call from the sales manager Robert Hatch trying to justify the cost and further reinforcing the fact they are so busy they actually bid it way high. He noted that because they've been voted the best roofing company last year so they can charge whatever and customers are willing to wait! The arrogance of this company and it's employees is astounding. Shame on Roman Roofing for trying to take advantage of a customer in need, will never use or recommend this company no matter how many star's they have. Then they sent our account to collections because we didn't pay the rest of the balance- they did not fix the leak and didn't adhere to said contract. Sue us- we will win. We came back from a vacation to find a large hole in our lanai ceiling. Evidently we had a leak that went unnoticed and rotted the wood in the ceiling, a torrential downpour was more than the roof could take and it collapsed. Fortunately it was not leaking into the house. We researched the internet for the roofing company and found Roman Roofing. There were good reviews so we called them, but planned to get a few estimates.. Ralph from Roman Roofing came to the house and discussed the repairs. Since our main roof was nearing its end if life, it was pride t to replace both roofed at the same time,, we were very impressed with the quality of the products used so we signed the contract. Within a reasonable time the crew. Led by Tony arrived.on time as scheduled. They proceeded to put tarps around the entire house, covered our pool and carefully covered my pond. Tony and the crew were so very nice throughout the process and weren't above and beyond the call of duty. After.they were done they cleaned everything up. I highly recommend this company.. read more

Thought this was reputable company when the estimator arrived. He was professional and reasonable with his repair quote. I called this company because they had a coupon in the ValPak mailer. They wouldn't honor the coupon because they said the coupon was to only be distributed in Cape Coral even though I received it at my home address. No restrictions noted on coupon either. Was OK that they didn't accept coupon and they wrote up a contract and took my deposit, Then 3 days later said they didn't want the job after I ordered and paid for supplies. I recommend this company, and if i had to do it again I think I would choose Roman. The work seems to have been done well, the workers seemed competent and courteous. Everyone I had verbal interaction with seemed professional. The work took nearly 6 weeks from removing the old roofing to the installation of gutters and downspouts (by what I believe was a sub-contractor). However, there is a general lack of good communication skills with this company. One day, as I was getting ready for work, a small crew showed up to install the skylight tube. As there had been no warning this was going to happen on this nor any particular day, I had to get my retired brother-in-law to come over to babysit the work so I would not have to miss work. Calls and emails made to various members of the company went ignored, so I was left in the dark about schedule and progress. The gutter and downspout installation was apparently done by a subcontractor (with a different company name than Roman on his vehicles). This was another surprise appearance....and the contractor was cursing my landscaping and the fence on the sides of my property for making the installation a challenge (how many homes do not have fencing and landscaping?!). When paying the final bill, I was surprised to find that a bunch of plywood was needed for replacement, hence a higher cost than the original price quote. .......I think mainly on the shed, as later I found the shed was infested with termites. Again with the communication! IF workers found they had to replace nearly the entire plywood sheathing on a 8x14 shed because of termite damage, wouldn't it make sense to communicate this to the homeowner?! rather than replacing the wood and saying nothing? So, again, I say the work was done well by Roman, but there's room for improvement in the communication aspect, on all levels of this company. read more

Disappointing communications, poor clean up coupled with an attempt to seriously overcharge for a minor change. Roofers blew all roofing debris onto our screen enclosure and into our pool failing any attempt to cover the screen enclosure or pool,of course Ralph assured us covering the screen was standard(never happened). What we did find standard is Ralph's ability to disagree with what he placed in writing as well refuse any responsibility or return a phone call unless it was to ask if payment had been made. My advice is that you should NOT pay the balance in full until the job is completed. Even though I was given a written promise that the few remaining problems would be completed, I'm still waiting after nearly 4 months for the last repair to be addressed. It appears that I will have to hire another contractor to finish this final repair. A supervisor came over and indicated they would take care of it; however, I'm still waiting. Overall, they did a good job; however, I am very disappointed with the follow-up work (after paying them in full). The clean-up was also disappointing with roofing nails found throughout my yard. Note: Had they completed the job they promised, I would have given them 4 stars; however, since this will cost me additional out-of-pocket monies, I can only give them a maximum of 3 stars. P.S. Roman Roofing did my neighbors roof across the street. They said if a neighbor had a flat tire they would pay for it. Well guess what? I had a flat tire about three weeks after the roofing. I had to buy a new tire because the nail was too close to the outer edge. They came and took the tire back to the office. I said I did not expect them to pay the whole amount but at least $50 or $25 dollars. Well I guess it was not within their time frame. He said I could have picked up the nail anywhere. When we looked at the lawn tractor it also had a nail in the tire. With the rain and the tractor nails were probably thrown into the street thus my flat tire. Roof failed inspection after completed. Roof had two leaks right after being completed and had to be stripped off in two areas to fix the mistakes. Now roof is leaking a third time and they want $1,600 to fix. When roof was done there were soda cans left in the gutters, the workers used the gutters as a bathroom, and the gutters were not nailed back everywhere. Nails and debris were dropped into the kitchen vent requiring disassembly and a new fan that I had to fix myself. Workers shingled right over spot where light tube was to be installed in the kitchen. They had to strip it back and then glue the shingles down after calling someone else in to put in the light tube. After 4th roofing nail in my foot I rented a magnet to pick up all the nails on the lawn. The original roof on the house lasted 20 years without a problem. The Roman roof lasted 4. The people at Roman were very nice though. read more

Recently I discovered a small leak in our great ceiling, after one of our heavier downpours. I called Roman Roofing, as my next door neighbors had used them in the past year for a complete new roof. I saw firsthand what hard workers the roofers were, and how respectful they were of the property. Our neighbors gave were very pleased with the work, and thoroughly recommended them to me. I called hoping someone could come relatively soon as rainy season was due to begin. I was told the Project Estimator would call, which he quickly did and made time to stop by the very next day. Phillip Marshall arrived on time, inspected the damage and then explained to me what needed to be done to correct the problem. Scheduling the work to be done the following week was easy and everyone in the company that I spoke with was personable, professional and very helpful. As an aside, their website is top notch and the staff is excellent in communication with the client. The roofers arrived early as the forecast had changed. They completed all the necessary repair, took pictures to show me and answered any questions I had. The rain arrived in less then 2 hours and the leak was no longer a concern! Had my roof done a few moths ago. I had gotten 4 bids, and Roman's was one of the less expensive. I didn't go with the cheapest bid because there were too many unknowns. I REALLY liked the salesman, Ralph, who did a great job answering my questions. The job was done on time. I want to change the color of the shingles at the last minute which was no problem, and then mid job, I changed my mind on the vent color, which he accommodated very pleasantly too. The finished job is beautiful. And i must say, I haven't been finding nails in my lawn for weeks, as with other roofs I've had done. Mid job, a severe storm blew up overnight, and i received a call from the owner to make sure everything was ok. Months after my job was completed, I asked for a new sample of shingle as i was painting some trim & wanted to color match. My e mail was immediately returned & a sample was delivered by Ralph. DO NOT trust this company to replace or repair your roof. Our roof was less than a year old when it leaked (In Naples, FL). They allegedly repaired it and then it leaked again 6 months later. Again it was allegedly repaired. Now 2 years later we are dealing with the same exact location of leaks. The issue is a lack of flashing around the chimney. I was told it is not standard to install apron flashings on chimneys. They repaired around the chimney by simply caulking. They offered to fill the gap between the chimney and tile with cement but was only an option. So no surprise it is once again leaking. I will NOT be calling Roman again. I have moved on and suggest you do too!! read more
