The real star here was the Gateaux Basque. A soft cookie-like dough forms the crust while the center has a vanilla custard and a cherry jam of sorts. It has one of the most pleasing textures and flavors I've had in a cake. It is worth coming here just for this, although I will have to come back and try some of their other foods. I would also note that while the quiche looks really good I couldn't justify paying $15 for a slice of it. I realize it comes with a little side salad, but when I asked if I could get it without the salad they said they couldn't charge me less for it. Oh well. I then waited about 15 minutes without anyone coming over to take my order. Two women who were seated after me at the booth I had been waiting for were greeted and asked for their drink and food orders before anyone acknowledged me. At that point, I was honestly ready to leave. I stayed because I was hungry and didn't want to make a scene. I haven't even received my food yet, so I can't comment on the food.
